I haven't played BW for a long time thanks to Windows 7. By the way, if Windows 7 was your idea, fuck you for breaking Starcraft on it and robbing me of the pleasure of playing it for so long.
I had to play it in windowed mode, which for some reason runs at like 3 fps on my computer. It hurts to play like that, because there's a rhythm to playing bw, to your hotkey patterns, to carrying out your build order. Everything just feels so right and having it run a little choppy might seem insignificant, but like olives on pizza the entire experienced is marred as the vile taste lingers long after picking them off
I forgot I had to split my scvs. I don't know how long I practiced splitting on that one terran micro map back in the day, you probably know the one, it had various micro scenarios that are common to terran, like pushing with mines and tanks, fighting lurkers with marine medic, splitting your scvs. How many times have I had a bad split in a game of SC and felt like I just experienced a bad omen that will stay with me for the rest of that game, only to forget entirely about the ritual of splitting your workers.
I then forgot that I can't just rally them to minerals, so they just stood there getting bunched up on the top mineral. SCVs are fucking huge by the way. This is how I felt as I watched them mine away:
Anyway the game itself was brutal and I lost because I couldn't control shit with the lag from window mode. But that feeling was still there. At first I was like, "this isn't even possible to play anymore, you have to set all your rallies manually and shit, it's archaic" but it felt so right. It's old as shit, and the interface is ancient but goddamn does it feel good to play.
I got all sentimental, so I thought what better way to rid myself of this empty feeling than by playing some SC2. 1800s platinum and I get my shit pushed in by banelings, I lose a retarded amount of marines. I got to thinking, "wow this is just like losing marines to lurkers" only if lurkers had the double damage bug every time you killed them, and there was no feasible way to micro or maneuver your units to mitigate the damage and you may as well pack it in when you see them, look that 30 apm player in the eye and say "terrible fucking game" and then f10 S, then manually click the surrender button because S doesn't do anything anymore

wait that screenshot is a joke right? sc works fine on windows 7 for me. But yea, those Windows 7 commercials are pretty stupid. And I used to be a B rank protoss. Last week I played a few games and I was probably like D+/C- tops. Not playing bw for over 2 months pretty much destroys you. And I think it's even worse when you get used to a different game that has easier macro mechanics.

so fucking annoying that the S-shortcut isnt working anymore. Because just after having lost a game is NOT the time where you wanna deal with a shitty bug

5/5 for jacked screenshot
and I don't know why so may people have problems with Windows 7 and BW, besides the occasional screwy colors I've never had an issue. I've got an ASUS laptop that's ~2 years old, running 7 Professional.

I have tried to play bw again too and noobcraft2 killed my already nonexistent skill.
Even a 3v3 hunter becomes hard to play T-T The worst thing is probably the SBS.

please don't tell me you're saying wow is easier then sc2 -_- sc2 is easy, but wow is not even remotely close to a game

hahaha awesome fuckin post i rofled

after playing random in sc2 for a while i decided to try my hand at random in BW bear in mind, I was a C- toss only, and that was in the extended TSL season, when ranks were inflated. I lost with my terran and zerg to 800-ish ranked D- players, and then got fed up and played toss, but still couldnt get above 1200 points. Feels bad man. SC2 is the mechanics killer

I lost to harem in a ZvZ after playing exclusively SC2 for a month... T_T
|
It's f10+n now. Also, never stop playing bw :D! I think it only got more fun for me after I started playing SC2.
|
I have a feeling that, if I tried to play BW now, I'd be so clunky and uncoordinated with my play and it'd be very depressing.
|
to be honest, even if I cant beat the kind of players i'd be thrashing with my offrace before, playing sc2 has really made me appreciate just how awesome and how much fun bw truly is
|
suddenly I'm glad I haven't touched SC2 (yet!)
|
I like all that stuff (manually getting workers to mine, splitting etc). it gives me something to do Compared to my LAN buddies my mechanics are better than my decision making and spell casting. Having more niggly crap to do in BW gave me a tiny edge that I miss.

F10S was probably a joke by blizzard...
|
still play bw everyday. far prefer it to sc2... I hope that changes but bw is on a massive pedestal for me.
