Got a beta key from friend.
Installed, turned everything to ultra on 2560x1600, and clicked on "experienced" for the matchmaking thing in multiplayer.
Got matched up with random people, mostly in their favor to win.
Currently 8-0 with protoss with ease, I don't know any build orders or even what the new units do but as long as I macro'ed well and somewhat micro'ed, the games haven't even been close. Plus I tech to psi storm fast every game, and psi storm seems even more imba in SC2 because it still does a shit ton of damage and is now virtually undodgeable.
I say C rank in BW is enough to trash 80% of the kids on beta right now, so I'll be playing tons of SC2 now whenever I get raped on iccup in the blue ranks.
Yay. Hooray for the hordes of 12-year old nubcakes on SC2, my e-peen has grown numerous inches over the past few hours

what
psi storm radius is really small lol Sure its easier to cast but, BW psi storm was much more powerful

Yeah storm blows, I still haven't seen it used at all in any of the games I've played.

SC2 is a great game in all regards, the problem with it right now is simply balancing of the races in general versus each other so than individual units but that takes time. This is easily the best balanced Beta I've played, and I've played quite a few, of course we should all keep in mind 'perfect balance' never happens in any game, and even though BW has come relatively close it takes a long time. I personally like the new feel of SC2, its faster paced, and more accessible to not-so-good players (which allows me to play with friends who I normally would dominate in other RTS, but in SC2 they can fair decently enough to enjoy playing).

to be honest, im really hating on sc2. just not the same feel and awsomeness that sc1 gave us. you try and go ghost mech and all p has to do hit you with immortals before the ghosts pop and rape your tanks and hellions. and you dont neeed to deal with other races because EVERYBODY PLAYS TOSS!!!! not to mention that now you dont even have to 1a2a3a4a all you hasve to do is 1a then macro by going 3zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeee. i just dont feel that sc2 is a worthy predecessor to sc1.
my daily nerd rage.

only reason to play sc2 right now is it is a "new" game and has great hype to it...other than that...I prefer bw eventhough I'm a bigger newb on bw... i wish they implemented new b.net 2.0 stuff to bw..

Psi storm sucks, but its so very cool, but so far i've just rushed immortals every game and it works because they do like 50 damage lolololol. So far i've gone 5-0 and i'm too scared of losing to get on :/.

Being C on icucp means you are #1 plat in this game rofl

my daily nerd rage. Yeah I agree. Sc1 was sooo much better. Sc2 was cool at first because of all the hype. I still love watching tournaments and stuff but it's not fun to play/

and you can probably win games against people that were B- and higher @ sc1 and have far better multitasking/mechanics than you
good thing or bad thing?

I'm 1500 in plat and I never played in ICCup..

good thing because he can get revenge on the people who used to pwn him. But really, while opening build orders do play a big role, any player who was B- should be able to beat a D level player in sc2 pretty easily as long as they don't die early.

1. Cheddar 2. Straight up win 3. He fucked up
The first case really holds no bearing on my opinion of SC2 as you can get lucky and cheese far superior players and win in SC1 as well. Now I dunno how much the opponent would have to screw up for the last case to happen, but he'd seriously have to like take a nap or go get coffee and come back to fuck up enough to lose in a straight up match in SC1. There's nothing to do in SC2, however, you just gotta keep up with the easy 30-apm macro and see where it takes you. Anyway, shit happens, maybe he spilled coke on his keyboard and couldnt use hotkeys, whatever.
It's the second case that concerns me because case two should almost never be happening with such a wide skill gap, yet it is very possible in SC2 because of the following reasons: Macro - mbs, automine are awesome for players like me, makes me not have to frantically switch between bases and try to attach drones to minerals every thirty seconds. Sucks for the player who got used to doing it in SC1 cuz now there's not much difference between his and my macro as long as i remember to inject larvae when I see my hatch select 4 larvae. Micro - autosurround + FAST ASS lings make a good combi, as soon as I get 2 lings out it's byebye probe scout. Plus lack of animation canceling -> a-move+focus fire works better in the vast majority of situations than patrol-move hold-move or some fancy ass shit. When it's a large enough force I focus key units and after that put them on a-move, switch back to my base and do what I need to do. Seriously, if there were a micro-challenge ums without any of the unit attributes changed in GE, jaedong would have a hard time winning it even though he'd crush n00bs left and right in SC1 in those ums maps Tactics - byebye high ground advantage and army positioning. Strategy - all of the reasons above lead to strategy = build order win/loss. With okay macro I can accumulate a large enough force to a-move a hydra ling bling blob into his base and the result of the game will most likely be a cointoss rather than a B- gosu roflstomping a D- noob. etc - I really dislike the hard counter system as well, leaves very little room to experiment with different unit combinations and the game becomes very static and textbooky.
yea it was much harder to beat a better player in SC1 and I miss practicing hours upon hours and days upon days to get that near-perfect macro/micro down, and feel so accomplished when results would start to show in-game. In SC2, when I check the ratings of my opponent I beat and see that it's a 1800+ plat user, I don't feel accomplished because there would be nothing special that I did in the game to separate it from games with low 1000 rating plat users. Every game is a Bernoulli trial of the same strategy I use every game: "I hope my build order beats his and that I dont fuck up anything majorly"
