After many days of listening to Jango.com streaming while playing the beta I stumbled on a great artist I had never heard of before. I've always been a big fan of Sarah McLachlan and Eva Cassidy and in general the female piano singer-songwriter type. So it was fantastic when I heard a song by someone named Vienna Teng that I thought was awesome. I proceeded to get her first album and there was a song on there that blew me away:

The crescendo at the end just amazed me. You could have told me that she had wings at this point and I would have believed you because I tell you, she soared and she took me with her.

I'm digging her album right now, and will shortly be getting the rest of them (there's quite a few as this album, Waking Hour, was released in 2001).

Also, earlier this week I bumped into an early 90s song which I am diggin a lot atm. It's a song dealing with the horrors of war:

I might as well plug another favourite song of mine here just because it deals with the same theme:

As for the movie recommendation, you might remember a blog I made a few weeks back about a romance film called The Lover. Being the secret romantic that I am, I'm back with another romance film suggestion.

Before Sunrise (1995) is a film about two people who meet on a train in Europe and who spend a single night walking around in Vienna, before going their separate ways in the morning. It's a romance film without the usual romance trappings.

There is a sequel called Before Sunset where they meet 9 years later but I haven't seen it yet.

an interesting thing about before sunrise and before sunset was that the time that elapsed between the two films is also the time that elapsed in real life

the director who did this (Richard Linklater) actually is doing a film which started shooting in 2002 called "Boyhood" and is about a kid's life growing up for twelve years (film released in 2013 or so), and all the actors stay the same. that means all the actors get together and film it a few weeks every year, which i think is pretty cool.

wow thats quite a ballsy project, sounds great.

before sunrise/sunset are definitely great movies, no typical cheesy hollywood shit
