I didn't think this warranted its own SC2 thread so am just going to post it here.

I was curious about playing 'Random 2v2' in SC2. That is, you aren't playing with a friend/partner and it randomly puts you on a team.

Is there its own separate ladder for this? Or does it start putting you against 'premade' teams if you start to do well? If it has its own ladder does it just rank each player individually?

This may be a dumb question but I honestly couldn't find the answer anywhere.

I believe random teams will get put up with arranged teams (unlike War3)

I seem to remember a game where the opponent said 'wow my partner was terrible'... but I cant recall if that was a placement game or a ranked game.

I kinda hope they put in random 2v2 where you rank up by yourself, I find it to be fun.

Yeah it pairs you up sometimes with doubles. That isn't as bad as it sounds since all people in the separate singles 2v2 league have the same chance of this happening the same way you get lucky or unlucky with your ally.

I did my placement matches for this a couple of weeks ago... and shortly after my ladder stopped working and got reset or something... dunno but when I won and got +0 points I decided 'screw this' and haven't done more lol

yeah I remember playing against someone twice in a row in 2v2 and both times he had a different partner and both times he'd complain about having a crappy partner (this was while playing as an arranged team)

Do you know if the ladder is still up? If there is an actual ladder ranking for it thats not too bad, just gonna get stomped against premades a lot.

It has it's own seperate ladder yes.

The only problem is, as described above, the fighting vs premade 2vs2 teams and not always random teams like yourself. So it tends to be kinda hard sometimes

The best is when the game starts and your randomly assigned ally doesn't start mining. Yes that happened to me rofl

The last 2 games I've played random 2v2 the player went this sweet build.

Terran:

1) Wait 15 seconds to start mining
2) Make first SCV after 20 seconds of mining
3) Get supply blocked at 11/11
4) Make refinery
5) Make Barracks
6) Finally make supply depot when it wont let you make a marine
7) Tech straight to Thors
8) Make 2 Thors
9) Die to 15 Zerglings.

It was different people and the EXACT same build o_o

If you're in platinum 2v2 by yourself, do you still get matched with random players or does it match you with platinum partners?

I have a random partner 2v2 ranking and a 2v2 ranking with Plexa. Plexa and I went 7-3 in placement and got bronzed, I went 5-4 in random partners and got gold.
