So after quiting competitive starcraft and not following the pro scene anymore I regressed back to playing and studying chess in my spare moments.
Rashid gibiatovich nezhmetdinov is my favorite chess master. Despite winning the soviet championship five times he was never given the title GrandMaster due to soviet politicing and racial descrimination.
His style is similar to Mikhail Tals, fearless aggression with uncomprising creativity.
His best games contain more artistic strokes then the mona lisa and his worst games would due Colonel Custard proud.
Rashid Nezhmetdinov's Chess Games Collection
watch his most famous games, he is the julyzerg of chess.
Enjoy!
(you do not need to be a skilled chess player to enjoy this games)

Yeah, he's one of my favorites too. If anything, he's more like Kwanro with his all-in crazed aggression than Julyzerg. His game vs Polguaevsky (or whatever his name was) is one of my favorite games of all time. Pure genius. He was also a checkers champion.
P.S. He made Tal look like a zerg turtler on FS.

Yes he was a master draughts player until he left the military and picked up chess in his early twenties

Whoa. Just whoa. He reminds me a bit of morphy, but a more complicated combinational version O_O
sick sacrifices

Nezhmedtinov coached Tal as well, and I'm pretty sure that includes the lead-up to his World Championship Matches with Botvinnik.
The more I try to play like Nezhmedtinov and Tal, the more I realize that I am not Nezhmedtinov or Tal, but their games are just that inspiring that I keep trying.

sick sacrifices His attacks have the beauty of morphy but unfortunately his positional play in open or closed positions is no where near as clear or dominate. The down fall of this genius is that he could only play interesting chess, he couldn't play machine-like at all. His technical skill definately held him back from greatness

Sacrificing his queen and winning the game. So sick. It felt like an all-in counter attack in Starcraft and it worked.
