My new computer has been working great thus far.
But today I was playing poker, had osu open, and then my MSN said I had a new message. So I signed on and my computer froze. Was not a real big deal to be honest. But unfortunately, now when I restart the computer and go on, it'll always freeze at the task bar (Windows 7). Whenever I scroll over it I'll get the loading sign.
My KiS (got it because of RoX wtf) keeps saying something about an unorthodox shutdown of programs. Maybe it is because I'm shutting down from the power button and not the computer. So what I did was assumed maybe I'm retarded and somehow got a virus in a week, although the only shit I downloaded was Open Office, reputable Poker software, and Osu + Starcraft belated stuff. Plus the MSN/AIM. Thinking about that, I did a system restore to 2 days earlier, assuming that it would fix whatever the problem would be.
Turns out that didn't fix it. But whenever I run it in safemode it doesn't pause up. The only other piece of information I can really give is the CPU is at 30 degrees celsius at startup right now. Would that indicate maybe my computer is just having problems overheating and locking up whenever I start?
Any advice/theorycraft would be appreciated.

Omg I just restarted it and it took 5 minutes instead of 5 seconds before freezing now.

Also a sidenote, I checked the properties of my computer and still says I have 4gb of ram available so thats cool. I'm gonna let the computer cool down for an hour or so and try it again later.

30C is fine. need more info, at this point i would just format to figure out if it is really a hardware problem or not before your warranty runs out.

yeah if thats all you have installed then a reformat might be faster than trying to diagnose/fix it. Although if you re-download the stuff and the same problem occurs, then you know its one of those programs.

Right now my cpu temp shows 44C. It's definitely not the problem in OP case if he's got just 30C.
In my humble opinion, it's just some Winfuckupbug.
You said you always shut down using your power button, instead of shutting down from the menu?
It sounds consistent with "unorthodox shutdown of programs" which can cause trouble. Seems like your Windows doesn't know how to handle all this processes that got halted in a wrong way.
For future: You should always try to shutdown via menu, there's a whole process of shutting down OS and if you just skip parts of it (or the entire process) you're gonna screw it up (OS, programs and hardware in certain cases).
If your computer does not power itself down, you should not turn off the computer until you see a message indicating that the system is halted or finished shutting down, in order to give the system the time to unmount all partitions. Being impatient may cause data loss.
There's a lot of stuff your OS has to do to shut down.
1. End all ongoing processes (in right order).
2. Save any data that might be lost during #1 (keeping documents etc.).
3. Unmount all drives.
4. Halt the system.
5. Power down computer.
blahblahblah, that's pretty simplified. Just ask your friend with Linux to show you what displays on his screen when he shuttdowns his comp from the console (Windows does roughly the same stuff but doesn't display it).

Bump still having this problem when running games.
I can play Poker fine or draw in MSPaint while chatting with people on MSN for days but when I play Bioshock, Mabinogi, or Starcraft for 6+ hours the computer just freezes. I can restart it then it'll freeze randomly from 15 minutes ~ 3 hours. I updated my graphic card drivers and everything.
Need this fixed! I'm getting jipped off lots of Mabinogi gold holy shit.

Aw. Nevermind. I had this problem consistently-- I'd be navigating or even just going through folders, but if Chrome was open, I'd find myself often waiting on the taskbar to unfreeze and stuff. I'd highlight it and get a "busy" mouse

I've had that problem with Windows 7. Actually, I have that problem with Windows 7.
With me it's just completely random though, it's happens the most in the middle of SC games (the sound keeps going but the screen just freezes, have you had that?) or when I tab between SC and
other programs.

Let me elaborate the problem a bit more.
This computer is new, the max temperature it has ever reached was 42C.
A certain temperature doesn't seem to indicate when it freezes though.
It has frozen at 37C, 39C, 42C, and even 32C.
When I say freezing this is what happens:
There is no indication of when it is going to happen. My computer does not slow down, it does not start lagging, this just happens in the split of a second. My sound produces a constant buzzing sound and my screen is frozen and won't accept input from my mouse or keyboard. I cannot go to task manager. My only option is force shutdown. No alt+control+delete either.
It only happens when my computer is on for a bit and I'm playing a game. I've upgraded my graphics card drivers, I dunno if it is even installed correctly though but it shows up in device manager and shows no problems. My computer shows 4GB ram that is properly installed.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try a new (or old) graphics card. And try a different operating system. My problems didn't start till i installed Windows 7.

Yeah I've been reading up on freezing with Windows 7 for past hour.
It seems like some hardware can mess with Windows 7 beta.
There was a suggestion that the problem could be registry though, so I downloaded CCleaner.
Ran a scan, and see if computer will freeze anymore.
If it does, I'll prob just put another operating system on this.

It could be related to Windows 7 but I don't know enough about it to recommend switching for no reason. You can try that as a last resort after consulting with some forums like fanatacist suggested.
My computer would freeze periodically and give me occational BSOD when the RAM was seated improperly. It's really easy to reseat so it might be worth trying.

Can you give me more information on this?
If this doesn't work I will just put a new OS on it.
I googled a bit and I've seen a few posts on various forums where people with AMD motherboards (or processors wat) are also having the same problem as I am with Windows 7.
Anyways here is my shitpage, is this ram normal? It always says only 3.25GB is available when I have 4GB installed. And any help on how to properly mount it and make sure it is in right would be appreciated.
