As many of you (Well, followers of kpop) know, Jaebeom of 2pm has left Korea.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8GLDXq9ApM Listen for the crying fangirls
"Former 2PM leader, Jaebeom...or I guess we should now say Jay Park, has left Korea. The fallen star left Korea on September 8th, 2009 on an afternoon flight at Incheon Airport with over 500 fans literally screaming, crying, and begging for him not to go." - allkpop.com
It all started few days ago when Jaebeom's Myspace entry was discovered and spread on the web by a netizen.
"Korea is gay... I hate Koreans"
How many people would casually put that on their facebook/myspace when they first move to a country and they're not fitting in/miss their old country/etc.?
This was from when he first came to Korea, during his training days. He even made a formal apology. But it didn't stop the Korean netizens from flaming him left and right.
Although some supported him, many anti-fans did everything they could to make him look/feel bad, including the petition "Jaebeom should commite suicide."
"Go back to America", "I'm disgusted by you"
2PM had to cancel all of their schedule, and Jaebeom couldn't do anything until the controversy was cleared.
Even with Many other stars and 2PM members' support, he decided to quit and left for America, amidst the crowds crying and begging him to stay.
I myself am very disgusted at Korean netizens right now. I know it's not everyone who's like this, but I am ashamed to be Korean for the first time in my life. Anyone could have made the mistake. I doubt that he thinks Korea is actually gay, especially after all the fame he's gotten. I mean really, I can understand the controversy, but to the extreme as to make him leave? To write a suicide petition? Korean netizens have always been known to be notorious, but I think this has gone too far. I look forward to his return.
Of course, this is only one man's perspective. I'm sure others feel differently. So how do you feel?
Poll: Jaebeom - Did he deserve it? (Vote): Korean netizens are crazy. (Vote): Of course, he said Korea was gay. (Vote): I don't care.
Good luck in America Jay. Welcome back.
A lot of information I have on here is from allkpop.com. (I can't believe my first blog was about this!)

Korea: where online petitions DO make things happen.

This and Baezzi thing makes me really think very high percentage of Koreans are very orthodox people I hope I am wrong, but really, how come so many people can hold so much grudge for so long for 1 phrase that person regrets... It's just blind hate...

hahaha "they think im like the illest rapper when i suck at rapping" this kind of defines korean pop culture

Me? I don't give a flying fuck about him or this whole thing.
Karma is a bitch for him.

The Korean entertainment industry is so ridiculously fucked up, I'd rant about it but I wouldn't even know where to begin. It's not the core of the problem anyway. Last month in Korea I realized once again how lucky I am to have grown up in Germany instead of Korea. Still, I love Korea, even though it doesn't make any sense if I think about it rationally.
Anyway, poor guy. He didn't deserve it.
Oh and, I should probably delete this post if I ever become a pop star in Korea.

Nice how the Koreans opt to live up to his comments.
"You didn't like us before? We'll teach you not to like us!!!"

Completely blown out of proportion IMO. Sure he said some things that definitely don't fly, but damn that was how long ago? Jesus christ, while he did say some things that are pretty disgraceful towards Koreans, petitioning for him to suicide is just ridiculous and overboard. Netizens are some fucking sick people.
2PM =( Won't be the same without Jaebeom. Hope he takes some well needed time off and comes back fresh.

Well looks like Korea, besides having the most hardcore starcraft scene, also had the most hardcore troll scene. We could learn things from these people. Maybe even do some good...
Oh the endless possiblities.

Although this is a sad event, the netizen rampage won't stop because there is no way to stop them unless they make it insanely strict like whenever you make an account on a Korean site, you have to put your social security # or something. At least Jay is back home with his friends and family where he can relax. I wish him the best of luck back home and his studies when he goes back to school.

I'm pretty sure you need to put in your social security number to make any kind of account in a Korean website.

Really sad over this - 2pm just won't be the same without him. I hope he has good luck and health in the future and that he's happy with his family back home once this all dies down.

Dont really care but.. those myspace posts were disgustingly retarded :x watchu bin .... doin ... ..
Ugh

Where can I sign the petition?

anyone who types like that deserves to be flamed

I have conflicting emotions on this subject. If you come to a foreign country, don't appreciate its values + make fun of the people, but bask the glory, fame, and riches that it gives you, you're just like an ungrateful brat that doesn't understand what he's getting. But then again, he's Korean so it wouldn't have been as bad if some American said that while they were in Korea. On the other hand, that information is almost like a blog, its freaking personal information, sometimes people have their shitty days and vent out their stress there so it might have been a temporary thing.
I agree Korean netizens are over-the-board always, and something really needs to be done. Yeah he deserves to publish an apology and suffer some guilt but to sign petition like commit suicide is a bit extreme

yeah ever since yesterday this has been talked about in the kpop thread

i'm korean. i was born and raised in korea before moving to the states. but stuff like this makes me really hate korea. and i generally hate koreans. we are too prideful, too unforgiving, too uncompromising. i have (sadly) lost all pride/faith/hope in my own culture. the only thing i remotely like about korea is that we rape in sc. i don't know if all other asian cultures are the same but i really really hate korea's. it's to the point where i don't even like korean food. i know it doesn't make sense (there really isn't a connection) but i used to love the food and only started to dislike korean food when i started hating the culture itself. it's almost as if i'm so disgusted by the stupidity of the country and its people that i am disgusted by the food as well.
sorry if it was off tangent. but when i read the post i just started to rage against korea.

That's kinda dumb. You shouldn't reject the culture just because of a bunch of stupid netizens. Everyone is dumb on the internet.
The thing is, netizens take their e-rage into real life like 4chan members. There are a lot of times when they harass people and deface the group's van or something.

The thing is, he said it like 4 years ago, way before 2pm came out on the scene. He was younger then too and who hasn't said or done dumb things when they were teenagers? It's really unfair, even if it was his fault for typing that out publicly.

Jay is an American born who doesn't speak or know the Korean culture that well. He never had any intention of becoming a star in Korea. When he was near the end of high school, he did not want to go to college. His mom knew he had talent since he was a capable bboy and an average rapper. His aunt/mom (some say aunt, some say mom...) was the one that suggested he go audition for JYP Entertainment. JYP watched his audition tape and decided to fly him over. He spent 4 years in Korea without knowing the culture or speak the language. He went through hot blood training where it was pretty much a boot camp. Since 2PM's debut, they've been steadily growing popularity and attracting more fans. Jay is not a snobby white washed Asian that is only in it for the money because he is doing it for his mom, family, and friends. If Jay decided not to go to college, he would be in the states making less money he would by being in 2PM. I don't think Jay thought bad about Koreans or the country, but after what he had to go through, he just wanted to pour his rage on MySpace by typing up a blog.
One other thing, many people criticized him for not deleting the comments and blog, but how can he remember what he wrote? 2PM are constantly training and doing other activities. He kept his Facebook and MySpace account to keep in touch with his family and friends back in the states.

There are privacy settings.

Yeah of course since I have friends who try to add him on Facebook and MySpace (they're fangirls alright...) but the person hacked into his MySpace account after episode 7 of Wild Bunny. In that episode, Jay was showing his bboy crew on YouTube and his friends on MySpace. I don't have a MySpace, but only a Facebook. I know that you can't track your comments unless someone replied to it (unless there's a feature that I don't know about...)

Actually the current Korean administration has been trying to push through a law which would essentially abolish anonymity on major portal websites for a while now... it goes without saying that this has been met with Intense opposition from basically everyone. It was fuelled by certain recent tragedies which were strongly linked with Korean Netizens, but at it's heart it's mainly a political thing.

Could it be possible that his MySpace or Facebook was hacked (by means of hacked, he forgot to log out then some asshole provided the comment without him knowing)
or, he really did put it and got burned for it
