And regarding my disagreement with you on this matter, I have said all I intend to say and I hope you appreciate why I see hypocrisy here. If not, well that sucks but I said my piece.

i.e. your chain of thought is valid (in the formal, logical sense) but unsound. I can see why you chose the premise you did; but that does not change its soundness, only its understandibility. It was also needlessly aggressive of you. do you see why I claim as I do?

Feel free to add some context. EDIT: Just to be crystal clear for the umpteenth time, people are going to get out of me what they put in. When someone challenges me and that person persists in relentless and hostile stupidity even after I try to nicely correct that person, I'm eventually going to say something that's not nice.

With regards to zlefin, I replied because it's the second time in a few days he gets criticized unfairly here, and I see him as one of the most measured and hyperbole-averse posters in the thread, which is honestly a breath of fresh air (and I say this as someone who's had strong disagreements with him in the past). I feel like disagreements like this would be best solved through PMs or by reporting posts, not by calling out people here.

They sometimes influence the discussions being had on the topics you comment on. The issues touched upon in the US Politics megathread tend to be of interest to me, and if I feel like I have something to say, I will sometimes participate in the discussion, whether it's you or someone else who made statements I agreed or disagreed with. I've already said I'll be happy to discuss substance civilly with you in the future, but if you're not interested in replying to me it doesn't mean my comments on statements you make can't be of interest to others. In any case, I'll send you a PM within a few days to see if it's not possible to defuse some of the animosity (feel free to ignore it if you prefer, of course). Sure, why not? I would entertain a good-faith effort to resolve the matter and respond when I have the chance (though I may or may not be busy over the next few days). With regards to xDaunt, part of the problem is just that he has a tendency to be outspoken and very short in his responses. But IME he is right that you get out of him what you put in. He tends to respond well to good-faith questioning and clarification, and aggressively to context-assumption and accusatory language. And there's no real immunity from not having a report button - it just means you have to PM or post here to report a problematic post. I've seen him warned at least once or twice and that's definitely not "immune to moderation."

I hate leaving the upper half of posters on the scale of "argues in good faith" without a response.

In general, since the firmer actions around election time, moderation has been top notch.

I reported this post under thread specific violation. From page 5983 onward, posts containing only Tweets or articles will be handled a bit more strictly. Wondering if this is the kind of thing I should continue reporting for. Post with only a link to the article and zero content besides a flippant setence.

Posting the article alone is a better post than that.

It doesn't have to be a large quote, just a decent sized one so that the reader can decide if they want to read the rest.
