Political freedom is sacrosanct. Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Shrug. The internet is not a place of freedom and never has been. It's a selection of houses owned by people that they allow us to visit. We're permitted to voice our opinions in the US Pol thread, but if the noise annoys the owners they can shut it - and overly noisy participants - out of the house at their whim. My point being the internet has never been a particularly good place for ideals of freedom to be voiced, entirely because every single website is just a benevolent tyranny. Zuckerburg and Facebook could block every single user tomorrow if they felt like it, for the reason: We felt like it.

I am parodying the propensity for political grandstanding. It wasn't even particularly subtle.

By using one of the most influential political thought for something so frivolous. ![]() "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety" was just the icing on the cake, taking the piss out of those who thinks random quotes is a logical argument in itself. I do think that limiting the pol thread to those of a certain post count is unnecessary, but the real message I was trying to impart is the humour. By the way this post is genuinely in good faith.

Even if 95% of low post count posters are PBU's, I'd hate to have a lurker go 'oh, THIS I have to chime in on' for then to realize 'damn, guess I should have anticipated that and made an account a month ago' if that stifled his ability to participate.

Just read the kind of source less inflamatory posts about the president on this page, with 0 warnings issued: https://www.teamliquid.net/forum/general/532255-us-politics-mega-thread?page=1127 I guess "poor posting history" and "thread rules" (selectively applied) were use by the mods. At the very least, there should be a mod note on my post that got banned and why instead of shadow banning me.

They can last upwards of four months, though. I had no problem reading your posts. The closest I could find lately is this one by Wulfey. It's literally just a slap at perceived racial subtexts (not working class, but "white working class, right?") with a link. It might get warned later, who knows. If he did two more of low brow jabs he might also get a thread tempban. Since the temp ban reason was just quoting the last one, I'll refrain from further comment.

Resorting to childish invective is "10% of the vitriol" of everyone posting in the thread? I don't even know what you're referring to in the links, everything looked fine to me. Sounds like you just have problems when people disagree with you.
