A fellow map maker/SC2Armory member (Timmay) and I have been talking aboot custom maps, popularity and consistency with them as well as their recognition. I've realized that many new map makers either don't post or get scared away from map making because of various reasons, including me in some aspects.
Here's where Timmay and I would like to help.

The Idea:

To create a fun activity session for all forms of map designers -New and seasoned- following through for a week until the next Map Making Day.
Map Making Day itself will consist of a full day where players brainstorm an idea and put it to life in the galaxy editor.
The very next day, a chat channel will be opened and for all who choose to come. This channel will be for presentation of your map and is intended for you to join with other map designers/play-testers to flesh out your map and; eventually, finalize it.
The second day marks the beginning of the play-test week.
NOTE: Your maps do NOT have to be in any means finished for the next day, the first day is just for brainstorming a concept and having it in the editor.

Im Happy to announce that the first community map tournament featuring user maps from this thread was an absolute success!
We've had great success in previously testing our maps and great response from the players of todays tournament on these user created maps. In the future we hope to continue to provide the community with more maps to play and more exciting live games to cast.
So look forward to the next Tournament, Hopefully we can get some more great map designers to contribute to the entire process that is slowly turning out to be a great accomplishment..

I encourage all designers to participate, as this will most likely lead to fun, creative and well designed melee maps. Don't feel like you cant submit if you've missed Saturday either, still submit a map on Friday if you want
Remember this is for everyone so feel free to participate and invite friends to help play-test maps from the community!

I simply wanted to try a template that I havent tried before as I have only recently done natural designs. I thought a space platform would be the way to go for my next map. I also wanted openness with a hint of sneakiness, that's where the center comes into play!

Seeing Crossfire SE so much in the Gsl inspired me to design this map, It's tight like Crossfire but opens up mid-late game. The fog here adds an extra oomph to the setting

When I started this map I had only a bit of practice on making 4 player maps, often they were wayyyyy over-sized but I think I captured the actual size that I wanted for a 4 player map. The Center Xel Naga was my way of giving the map a little dangerous signature
