Vampires are fine and actually competitive (says my expert friend).
Two matches a week can be a little tough to organize. It's not that hard per se to play 2 matches a week for anyone, but playing them at a time that fits both you and your opponent is not necessarily easy. Even more so considering the wide variety of time zones we have here. We can give it a try though.
For the seeding and match schedule, the game client actually takes care of that itself. You will be left with the simple duty of advancing the match day once all matches of a half-week have been played. The problem with the BB client is that you have to play all matches of one day before being able to advance the day, even if both you and your opponents have played their match already. It was supposed to get much better with the LE, but I have not had time to try it yet. I'm going to do so in the next few hours and bring some feedback !

ok if we are doing semi random teams thats fine, but i refuse to play as Orcs . Dwarfs still rule

Are there plans to change the interface to manage private leagues? If so, what will be improved? Yes. We have spent a lot of time re-thinking and developing the multiplayer interface. It has been split into several pages for more clarity and better ergonomics. We have also integrated new features for private leagues administrators like: the ability to cancel a game and replay it or even to modify the score of a game.
Will there be some modifications on the online private league system? We have done a lot of changes in this department: • Introducing Commissioners – A league admin can assign Commissioners to help administrate the private league. • Validation - Games need to be validated by a Commissioner once they have been played. • Reset of Matches - Games can be reset by a Commissioner • Set Score - Commissioners can set the score for a match. Awarding someone a win, 2d6 Winnings + 2 MVPs, if one of the coaches could not show up. MNG players will come back after an administered game. • Seeding Manager - If you are not happy with the seeding, you can swap teams around in each section of the competition, i.e. the Division, Group and the Play-off stage. • Participants - And lastly we have upped the cap to a maximum of 140 coaches participating in a Private League. • GUI - Additionally to the above we have changed the GUI for the Lobby, making it easier to find & follow Private Leagues' Standings, Statistics, Calendar, Hall of Fame etc. Sweeeeeet improvements in LE.
Here is an explanation of the league types :
Championship, with one division each team will play each other once or twice (you can set this up). Best team will win the championship. With more than one division the divisions are in a ranked order. Winner of Division 1 will win the league. The bottom team of each division will be relegated into the next lower and the top teams will be promoted into the next higher division for the following season. However, with the seeding manager you can redistribute teams after each season.
Cup, each team will play each other team in its pool once or twice. Teams will be promoted into the play-off rounds depending on how many spots you set up starting with the best teams of each division. Winner of the play-offs will win the league.
Play-offs, all teams directly start with a knock out rounds. Last team standing is the winner.
Grand Slam, this set up combines Championship and Cup. First, the league plays a Championship season with ranked divisions and promotion/relegation at the end of the season. After this there will be a Cup with the whole league. The results of the Cup season won't count in regard to promotion/relegation spots for the next Championship season. I'd say we go for championship, with 1 division.
As for the rest of the options, I think we can agree on the default options, with extended inducements added.

18 of 20 slots have been taken. One slot is 'held'. Getting closer!
EDIT: ONE OPEN SLOT! From this point on, it will be first come first serve. Let that be a warning to all of you 'maybes'. First guys to PM me get main seats.. and I withhold the right to keep people on the 'short list' for if/when players disappear.
As of right now:
Zanzabar Haberdasher Lyter Skirn Nokarot Jaug potatoedoughnut Catyoul Kanil Brownjesus Jayce cloudic MaiBoA38 Tuln Megelrov Fallen InToTheWannaB Gruv kingjames01
(Maybe) Rampoon
Two issues of note:
1. I have received a formal request to keep Halflings in the team pool.
2. We -will- be using a limited draft format, as outlined below.
Tonight at 12:00 AM (EST), I will generate a random list of coach names and post them here. Anyone to join after this time will be added to the bottom of the list.
The first player on the list will be sent a PM with three team options to choose from. The chosen team will be taken off the list and I will proceed to the next coach. I hope this process will go quickly given that it's the weekend.. but at this time I will not enforce a time limit.
------
PM me confirmation if you want to play and are not on the list!

Like I said, it's probably just my horrible luck with always rolling 1's on Bloodlust

Seven hours until draft seeds are posted. Three more slots need to be confirmed/taken.

Count my friend out actually. We're both quite short on time so we will probably use a single team and play one match a week each.

Count me in!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm really excited...
Also, should the coaches vote on the season schedule? Maybe we set up a poll?

Like I said, it's probably just my horrible luck with always rolling 1's on Bloodlust Well a lot of people make the mistake of getting 4-6 vampires and not enough rerolls. So they fail bloodlust a lot. Don't know if that is what you are doing. Starting with 2-3 vampires and 5 rerolls is a solid beginning. Plus vampire teams shouldn't go over 4 vampires (maybe you can find success with 5 but not in my experience). They are actually a pretty decent team, just using things like hypnotic gaze effectively and dealing with bloodlust is hard because you do not have practice with them outside of vampires.

Holy crap can't believe blood bowl is showing up on TL. I've got the old cyanide version and have been playing for awhile. Gonna get LE as soon as I can spare the money (probably not in time for this tournament).
PS: Vampire teams are not competitive, atleast not past 150 tv. Your team is reliant on having several thralls on the field, which isn't a good bet past turn 4 once teams get mighty blow. Vamps never win big tournaments for a reason. =('
They have cool shades though!

Come on!! Midnight can't come fast enough!
I hope everyone is able to choose their teams quickly... I don't want to have to keep F5ing for days on end... =(
Also, will there be any trading teams allowed if someone is forced to choose a team that they really don't want?

I think we should have a reserve pool of teams not picked after 24 hours, and anyone could switch to one of these.
I like the championship model. This way if players drop out the can be replaced and if we cant find replacements that team just leaves WO in remaining games.
I guess we should have a limit on amount of games allowed per week, so that one team doesn't fly away to TV 1800. In my opinion there is a huge advantage to have higher levels and TV, petty cash doesn't make up for it. I say we limit 4 games per week for example. The 2 games per week system could be ok as well, but maybe that should be minimal amount?

If this game wasn't $40 I would totally play, but it is a bit expensive without any demo to try first.
If anyone wants to share an account (I assume it is against the TOS but not tracked) I would play in the tourney. If the game is worth 40 I would buy.

The number of games per week is actually a fixed amount if we use the league system. All matchups are defined in advance, and you know who you have to play when. Everyone plays the same number of games, 1 against each opponent.

Tempted to buy this just to play in the league. I only played the original briefly and got bored with single player.
Edit: Looks like this is already starting. I'll see how the first one goes and hopefully get in on the next one.

After probing around with the new league system I have found this to be true! My apologizes, I have never run an online league before.
As for having a 'team pool', that defeats the purpose of playing in a limited draft. Half of the idea is to make whatever you pull work. Don't be so close minded!
As of right now, it looks like we're playing with 18. Which is quite acceptable. Draft seeds incoming in two hours!

Some people enjoy the idea of a draft more than they enjoy picking a singular race. It's not an unfamiliar concept- DOTA, for example, has draft modes, allrandom modes, etc, where players sign up to play without knowing exactly what they're playing with in advance. It's a different way of playing, is all. I for one, love it. It seems you don't, but if you want to play, you'll just have to live with it I think :O You'll get to choose between 3 races- I'm sure you'll find something similar to your race within those choices.
|
Considering there are like 5 'Elf' teams, you have a pretty high chance of getting one or another.
Also: I am unexpectedly going out tonight so the draft seed with be incoming about an hour earlier than expected. Keep your eyes peeled on this post.
EDIT:
