Anyone know how to restrict incoming chat to only people on your friends list? I've been getting chatbombed like crazy as of late. Like, seriously intensely trying to macro/micro or whatever with some guy like "DUDE 1v1? OMG DUDE C'MON AT LEAST RESPOND MAN 1v1 GO?" After 3 minutes I'm like "in game no thank you" and he's like "OK ILL WAIT TILL AFTER OK FRIEND ME MAN LET'S DO THIS" and I'm like "no thank you" and he's like "WTF WHY MAN C'MON IM 30TH IN MY GOLD DIVISION I CAN BEAT U WE CAN BE TRAINING PARTNERS" etc etc.
I'd much love to just play quietly!
On another note, anyone know ANY other chat commands? The ONLY one I know if is /r which responds to the person who JUST msged you. I can't seem to get /w to work (maybe I need to know their identifier?)
halp meeee!

yea, I would like to know this as well. Also, how do I send a mass friend message? This stupid 'Real friend ID broadcast message' only works if you happen to type everyones real names in and shit. Bnet 0.2 is so fucking gay.
(no i did not typo b.net 0.2, that is literally what it feels like)

the command on bnet 1 was "/o igw" and "/o unigw" to disable, that doesn't work?

Story of my life right there.
Really interested to see what people come up with. This is especially annoying when I'm making videos.

Just be happy you have the beta >: i think teamliquid should adopt a strict no-whining-from-starcraft2betaplayers policy.

i think the only way to ignore someone is to add them as friends and "block communication". i haven't found any command for /dnd, maybe there's some hidden setting in the interface, but as far as commands go the only chat command is /r so far.

it would be nice if that made a list of commands available, or at least let us know if there will be some.

What DC said seems to be the only method I did a boolean search of the battle.net forums and i couldn't find anything on ignoring people in chat.
But maybe if you put yourself on busy or away it will block all communication, as that is a friends list i think busy might serve as a dnd

just act nonsensical, spam aasdfasdf replies and rage at your friend list frequently for no apparent reason, seems to work for me.
|
Is there a spam threshold for bnet 2
|
Haha, yeah this is quite silly. In your friends list there is a "Block Communication" option when you right click a persons name and click on "More" but I'm unsure how to do it for people who aren't your friends.
Maybe try /block
I guess you could always add them to friends and then block them

new chat feature you don't know about!
when you're in-game, press Enter to open a chatbox line, then press TAB to cycle through previously whispered users. Of course for the first time to chat with someone, you need to open your friend list button at bottom right and click their name. after that you can use TAB i believe. i can't figure out why clicking a name in friend's list opens an IM chat window, and other times it just puts "Whisper to USERNAME: ______________" in the chat box.
as for blocking chat, I think there's no way right now probably. however you can change your status to AWAY (hopefully soon DND as well).. perhaps that does something? not ignoring whispers but maybe clue them in to stop messaging you. probably not though

Just quit the game then rage at them i'm sure they will never msg you again lol

Can I add something to this thread?
If you know who I am, then fucking say who you are. It's ridiculous to have a conversation like "OH HO HO I KNOW WHO YOU ARE BUT YOU DON'T KNOW WHO I AM". This happens in ~33% of my games. It's fucking ridiculous. intrigue can back me up here.

Such are the drawbacks of being a Starcraft celebrity
