Hey guys,
So since SC2 beta, a lot of my friends/teammates have been MIA, either playing SC2 or being emo about not having beta key. I have been pretty damn bored lately so I thought I would revisit some old classic SNES games. I had two games in mind to start, FF2 and FF3. I chose these games because I have FF13 pre-ordered and I'm fuckin' stoked about it.
The one thing that bothered me was this: Using my keyboard to play games like FF2/FF3, Super Mario World and the Megaman series just wasn't cutting it. I then realised my PS3 controller's were USB compatible, so I did some research and found out it was pretty simple to make PS3 controllers work on my PC. What you will need is:
- PS3 Controller with USB cable - A COMPUTER - Drivers (see following link)
So start out by downloading the .rar file found here: http://dl.qj.net/SIXAXIS-driver-for-PC-Tools-and-Utilities-PlayStation-3/pg/12/fid/11679/catid/518
1. After you have DL'd this file, install the filter driver (libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.10.1.exe) 2. Unpack ps3sixaxis_en.exe 3. Plug the SIXAXIS into your PC.
Now what you wanna do at this point is hold the big PS button in the middle of the controller, until all 4 blinking red lights appear at the top of the controller! (when you plug it in only 1 light should appear, you might have to hold it down for 10-15 seconds)
After the 4 red lights are on, run "ps3sixaxis_en.exe"
After you run this, press the PS button on the controller again, just once. Your controller from your Playstation should now act as a fully functional PC gamepad. If you have doubts if it's working or not, or if you're having problems getting it working, you can follow these steps:
Start -> Control Panel -> Game Controllers
The PS3 Controller should appear in a drop down menu, now hit properties, and a button screen should show up. Press buttons and hope for a response, if not repeat the earlier steps of running "ps3sixaxis_en.exe" and pressing the PS button.
I hope this brings an ounce of joy to someone's life, as it sure has for me. If you guys have any questions feel free to comment here, I'll do my best to help you guys out!

lol I already have the pc adapter for the 360 controller but this is pretty cool info especially since you don't need any extra adapter or peripherals.
|
It also works the other way, as in PC controllers will work with the PS3.

You can have your own opinion ofc but in my eyes it was one of the greatest games ever made! :D

He means he hopes you're referring to FF6 (FF3 in USA) and not the actual FF3.

Kinda funny that you need an extra adapter for a microsoft controller going to PC but the sony one just needs a driver to be compatible. Thus, boo microsoft.

The 360 controller is wireless so you need some kind of an adapter but the ps3 fix in the OP uses a usb cable Not sure if the wired ones work on the PC.

+1
Having played through FF8 entirely on hrap2, I back this up entirely. Incredibly more comfortable than controller and makes the game so much more fun imo ^^
