Because if you've followed his games you would know that he has come extremely close to being eliminated in the past (e.g vs castro, brat_ok). In addition to that, Idra's condition is no different to when Mondi was in his prime, or JF, or any other good foreigner for that matter. there is a huuuge difference. Idra is a professional gamer and neither Mondi or JF were ever professional gamers. its simply pathetic that a professional (licenced?) player is taking part in amateur leagues. I agree with you, there is a huuuge difference between someone who makes a living from SC and trains with the best of them for 13h/day. However, Idra has been a member of the TL community for a long time. He still posts here and is more accessible than any other pro player to the TL people. I would personally find it odd to suddenly exclude him from tourneys just because he won a couple of them in the past few months. In fact I look forward to seeing more of his games. More importantly, the Highlander is a tourney managed by Incontrol and others, using private donations. It doesn't have to meet anyone's particular definition of "amateur" or "foreign", the organizers simply have to make a judgement call as to who gets invited / is allowed to play. The donors trusted them to make the right decisions, and so far I think they have done a fantastic job! Show nested quote +On July 27 2009 22:55 Ilikestarcraft wrote: Hes almost like fbh. except for BoxeR, but he clearly doesn't matter...
more importantly, this is a foreign tournament. if there were more pro foreign gamers, i'm sure they'd be in it too, and what does it really matter if IdrA is professional or not? There are players in the tournament more than capable of beating him, as well as players who could pull an upset. anything can happen in Starcraft which is why it's a great game, look at ret getting knocked out so early. and why anyone wouldn't want the best players possible in any tournament (foreign or otherwise) is beyond me.

I expected Idra to be knocked out the first round, and from the sound of it was almost correct. You say hes a much greater class than these guys, but have you seen him become successful in that 'class'? No. He belongs playing at this level of play o.O He has won like 3/4 foreign tournaments in the past 2 months, or something ridiculous like that. Stop talking out of your ass.

He will not win this tournament. And just because something is "foreign" doesn't make him outclass others. Hes not playing against the pros.

There is no way you can say with any certainty that he will not win this tournament. If I remember correctly he won both the ASL and Valor, as well as other things, beating many of the players in this tournament. No, just because something is "foreign" doesn't mean he is on another level altogether, but he is probably the best foreigner right now, and even the best drop games and series to others that are not thought to be as good, both in the pro and foreign scene. Also, he has been playing pros for over a year now, so I don't know what you are talking about. If you meant in this tournament, then yes, he is not playing pros - but like I said, he has already shown that he can beat foreign players by winning both ASL and Valor.
Stop being blinded by your hate or whatever.

wow. Dreiven vs Aerials game 3, THAT is what I miss about SC. Games with jaw-dropping micro, not 50 minute lategame macrofests that are boring as hell..
I wont spoil it, just saying watch that game, thats fuckin unreal.

A game I recommend (probably only for those who like the build) :

I think the maps were abit harsh on zergs lol esp that Neo Forte map. wow.
And BRAT_OK = best vulture micro outside korea yesyes??

Definitely some surprising results in the brackets so far. I didn't expect Squall to take down Fenix only to then lose to Tarson, makes me wonder if his ZvP is significantly better than his ZvT or something, and I'm pretty impressed Dinot beat both Strelok and Mana (and ofc Ret losing to Horror). DL'ing the rep pack now.

All i gotta say is poor deska lol

Mana sure likes his cheese though haha.

The Dreiven vs Aerials matchs are funny as hell. They kind of make Dreiven look like a bit of an ass hat lol.

any reason why in naruto vs (forgot) that they used forte 1.0 rather than neo forte 2.1?
and in the brat_ok games, it was old gaema gowon rather than sin gaema gowon? pretty unfair since old gaema was harsh as hell to zergs (nat placements were urgh).

Wow, there's two Canadians still alive and kicking there

The chances of Idra winning this tournament are id say around 80%+ Without ret in there he has no real comptetion besides the all iners(castro/dinot/horror is known to be cheesy sometimes too) plus anyone else who thinks "idrais better than me i should cheese"
If you dont think he's the clear favorite youre retarded.

You mean he won SCL and Valor, not ASL. Pj 4-2'ed him in the semis of the ASL. He will almost certainly win any foreign tournaments excluding the Chinese. And he's not that dominant, even excluding the Chinese. He doesn't roll over foreigners like the other Koreans. And after watching JF's replays, I think JF will beat him. He seems back in form.
