This morning I was in Petco and saw a small fish swimming in a tiny bowl - I asked the salesman "what kind of fish is this?" and he looked me square in the eye and said "it's a beta fish." I immediately poo'd my pants on the spot and literally sprinted home to post this. It's happening, guys. It's happening soon.
I was chatting with a co-worker at the coffee machine and noticed, on his coffee mug, a series of Greek symbols. "You were in a frat?" I asked. "Yeah," he replied, "I was in beta gamma epsilon." I dropped my mug - it shattered to a thousand pieces on the tile floor - but I didn't look down. My pulse quickened, my head swarmed with a thousand exploding lights, my bowels clenched and released into my underpants. Without saying a word, I sprinted back to my cubicle. It's happening, guys. It's happening soon.
I was watching Arrested Development with some roommates, when one of them said "I love Jason Bateman." I turned from the TV to face my roommate. My pulse quickened, my heartbeat hammered in my eardrums. "What...did you say?" I asked, my face a mask of concentration. Taken off-guard by my sincere expression, my roommate responded "I said I love Jason Bateman. The actor who plays Mike." My bowels spasmodically contorted and sprayed. I sprinted to my bedroom. It's happening guys. It's happening soon.
My friends and I were going to watch a movie on my old-school VHS player, but there was something weird about our copy of the 1976 Disney classic, Gus. One guy said to me, "Yo, this thing's too small to fit. I think it's actually a Betamax tape. I wonder why--" But he could not finish the thought, for I had seized him by the shoulders and gazed wonderingly into the depths of his eyes. "It's finally time," I mouthed silently to myself. My bowels could not contain their pleasure. I ran to my iPhone to post about it.
Sometimes I look into the night sky and seek out The Hunter in the night sky - the constellation Orion. As I visually trace the lines from star to star, I stop for a moment at Rigel - "the beta star." My heart swells with the beauty, the anticipation. Looking into the night sky, I whisper "someday..." Rigel, the beta star, is my star, is my dream.
