There are people here who genuinely discuss what makes an RTS good or not. They talk about what they like about Stormgate and what they don't. It is clear to everyone that you are not one of those people. You have an obvious vendetta.

To be frank I think the posts I made rock and I like them, they highlighted what I think are some interesting bits about what's going on with the game and if they don't connect with people its fine, but there's nothing but honesty behind them.

But yeah, I post a lot about Stormgate, which is normal because I really like the game. It is normal for people to feel passionate about the games they like and engage in different communities. What is not normal is to create a TL.net account just for the purpose of posting negative stuff about a game you don't like, even in threads that are about other games.

Take more of a chance, it's a scifi/fantasy mashup and this is your most creative ideas??' What do you think people are really saying with these re-occurring type of comments? Why do they jump around a bunch of words like design, art, lore, aesthetics, story? It's quite obvious really, because the game isn't out yet. People can't comment on gameplay because they aren't playing yet. They can't comment on story because they haven't played the campaign. All people have to go off is art style and lore. And Frost Giant admitted to putting visuals behind gameplay and infrastructure. They might have made a mistake not recourses into art and lore because it's what people see first. If Frost Giant wanted good PR they'd have done only NDA betas, and no trailers or reveals until the visuals are complete. As for co-op, literally no one cares about consistent lore. SC2, LoL, Overwatch, literally every other game has inconsistencies between gamemodes because people want to play all the characters and all the maps. Why would you make so many playable characters and fun missions just to restrict multiplayer to what's canon...

About something so meaningless in the grand scheme of things, as which videogame. Both desperately holding on to your opinion. So strongly holding on. As only a paid marketing instrument ever could. I suspect both of you to be bots/LLMs/marketing employees. And seeing you go at it, against each other, is like looking at androids fight each other in blade runner. Uniquely repulsive. And yet, I can't look away. Is this what the future will be like?

This has been crossing my mind multiple times. Minibuster has been driving this thread for some 100 pages. When he was banned the thread pretty much died. Using someone going on at it so obnoxiously, if done right, might drive people into supporting the game to spite the obnoxious presence and to defend the game from obvious exagerated criticism, even if those people were neutral to negative at first to the game.

I don't think they're a paid agent playing the heel for Stormgate.

In my opinion both spartak and megabuster are paid actors. Paid to drive the public discourse/opinions about "the next big RTS" in certain directions. There's probably a decent mountain of cash to be made from "the next big thing" and both SG and David-Kim-New-Game are fishing for it, in the same pond. Just like influencers, but instead of instagram, it's happening on our beloved forums. And just like influencers, their posting should be clearly labelled as advertising, if it is. polarizing works quite well, at driving the attention of big crowds. Donald Trump is a prime example of that. I Would not be surprised to see video game companies in very heavily contested marked go for such tactics. On June 30 2024 04:40 Fleetfeet wrote: The simplest answer to me is just lonely people doing lonely people things, so I default to that. At least Megabuster is practicing their satire in the process, even though their commentary doesn't result in actual conversation. It's hard to have anything meaningful when the discussion's fundamentals (i.e. "rune signs r bad" or "co-op multi narrative #1 important") are bizarre. I don't think they're a paid agent playing the heel for Stormgate. Fair point, it could just be loneliness. I don't think it is though, because the fervor and intensity of the argumentation would fluctuate regularly. If the Intensity of the argument stays high all the time, I would suspect a reason for that to exist. Like money. User was warned for this post

this is a catch 22 in the making though. if you want to cash in big time you need an engaging game, which takes time to make, which costs money higher tier units a huge part in most RTS, this one included i myself wont spend any money on this until it offers me atleast >10ish hours of a campaign, knowing full well that this might result in them never getting there before calling it

in some previous phases, the gameplay has deteriorated into a state that really needed a balance patch. im assuming they're going to not let the game linger in such a state like they have before. and that should be enough to keep 1v1 players satisfied as we wait for them to actually implement everything according to their vision / plans. and then there are the bigger changes like figuring out what celestial mechanics are going to be. and then once things have settled a bit they can finally start fine tuning the 1v1 experience i dont know what the reality is out there but i dont think something like initial impressions of day 1 of EA matters that much for long term success. there are some other EA games that i have an almost 100% chance of playing when they're 1.0, which i have a 0% interest of playing in EA (or judging in their EA state). i'd rather wait for the polished version of the game and have a better experience. in fact some games i wont even play on release because i'd rather wait for a major update. so yes of course almost everyone posting in this thread is interested in EA for this particular game but i have to imagine most people prefer to wait until 1.0 at least. so if FGS can survive until 1.0 and then have some advertising push to get people to try it then, that seems like the path to sustaining this game.

A big key to this piece of software surviving is how easily a small group can pump out new revenue generating content. A niche game within a niche genre, Fire Pro Wrestling World, hung on for 2 years with 2 guys pumping stuff out. It is a fully open ended sandbox and larger in scope and detail than any Pro Wrestling game ever made. It hung on for another 2 years with 1 guy creating new game features. For general audiences, Battle Aces and Stormgate will be competing on Steam with Real Time Tactics games like "College Bowl". A game made by 1 full time coder and 1 part time artist. When I say general audiences I'm referring to the "Angry Joe" crowd. I don't think the game will need an advertising push if a team of less than 10 guys can keep the game going. If this game requires 25+ people to keep pumping out content I do not think it is financially viable. Possibly Kakao can find a way to make money off of it in Korea? As game making tools get better and better very small teams can make great games with massive scope, depth, and detail. Summer Games Fest highlighted this fact quite well.
