Yeah but again it's all vague.
EA can be for adding polish and additional content/adjustment like against the storm or manor lords.
Or like games that are what should have been early beta like silica, which stormgate belongs, where most things are barebone
Manor Lords is a perfect example of a game that went to early into EA. That game is so far from finnished, let alone polished it isn't even funny. That it gets any sort of hype or recognition is a farce and i don't get why people don't call it out for that. Farthest Frontier, in the same genre, also went the EA rout but actually was pretty decent, aside from some bugs, even 2+ years ago.
Against the storm spent like 2 years before leaving EA, and got biweekly updated throughout. Would expect that for manor lord given how much money it got
Not to derail further but I also played against the storm very soon after it opened EA and while not really my cup of tea, it was allready way more finnished than the skeleton of a game Manor Lords is.
I played the earliest League of Legends Beta and I'll say the energy in-between Beta cycles when they turned off access was absolutely crackling. Forums were overflowing with theorycrafting and storytelling from the last phase. Everyone was basically digitally camping out for the next opening while banging on the closed beta door shouting LET US BACK IN. People were signing up their friends like mad in the downtime and each successive phase of this got even more intense. This was when they game looked like an absolute mess but still had a style and plenty of ideas. League cost ~18 mil to make it to launch, which is something like ~25 mil inflation adjusted, and was a scratch build.
Speaking of other games I have to note that Frost Giant had a policy of explicit cordiality towards other RTS games that were coming out, making sure to tweet out 'Hey look at this!' and speaking all sorts of sweetie-pie shit about other upcoming RTS across interviews. There was a stated philosophy of ushering in the RTS renaissance and that a rising tide raises all ships.
But they ain't said nothing to Uncapped Games during their big reveal of a reveal. Then consider that Uncapped Games is debuting at Summer Games Fest where Stormgame has been strutting around for the last two years. So in debuting the 3rd FACTION this summer, will they go head to head against Uncapped Games at Summer Games Fest? Or will they give up their natural and debut at Dreamhack?
Is this someone they don't want to be in the hot tub with? Maybe they don't want to be cordial anymore.
Well, competition between different companies is usually good for the consumer. Hopefully it pushes them to try to outdo the other.
I'm a little surprised the 3rd faction hasn't been leaked yet for Stormgate! I guess what others were saying is true: those who are truly interested are highly likely to be already playing and know anyway.

i think the rts community is small enough no one is really going to leak anything. when ndas are involved i only remember leaks coming from huge games.
I guess it was an NDA breach. I'm curious what exactly was leaked but I checked too late ๐ oh well. Careful out there guys make sure you read what u sign ๐

The video leaked the third race so a pretty obvious breach of the NDA.
The video was a leak from the #investor channel of the Stormgate discord and it had some very exclusive looks at the 'Frost Giant Estates' timeshare cabins you people are not allowed to see yet! I was promised first choice of the cabins closest to the lake so this NDA break was very upsetting for me.
edit: I've arrived at the address where the cabins were to be but all I see is a burn pit and several palettes of expired medical products. Does anyone know which timeshare Tim Morten is at?

I don't think a single person who posted in this thread about the leak sounds angry. Not that we want the game to be leaked but who exactly is up in arms?
I can tell. No NDA signed! It's definitely cats piloting Gundams. Or rather, that would be a more interesting idea than the actual 3rd race (floaty red crystals and very pixelated angels with swords).
