The only things that went on sale are the games that are fairly low on my list, basically the ones that I'm only interested in if I run out of stuff to do. The games I really want did not go on sale.
Did a bit of digging and it feels like they have a few big rounds of sales during the summer. Is that right? Idk dude Nintendo doesn't do specials on their prime stock very often, if at all. Mario Kart, Breath of the Wild etc never go on sale because they know that most people will just buy it anyway. All their launch titles are still full price 3 years on. I got Odyssey on sale (when mario maker 2 was on the sale as well).

I want the switch, hopefully the price drops soon. Holy **** Pokemon snap remake, WOW I loved this game as a kid! I will have to get this for sure.
EDIT : it is still 500$ on Amazon at the moment... -_-

Nintendo Switch spotted and purchased for $400 CDN at a giant canadian national drug store chain in the middle of Canada's 6th largest city. The Switch is still around at normal prices if you are willing to do a little digging.

nintendo has also released statements of normal switch production starting again so shouldnt be expensive anymore

That's good to hear!

Over the past few months, in the most populous area in Canada, the Walmarts had a few Switches in each location. I found they were buried underneath and behind giant PS4 boxes. I suspect the employees had them posted on Ebay and if they got a buyer they just bought the unit outright and then completed the sale on EBay.

Given how much I couldn't stand XC2, I can't justify ever buying another XC game x.x
I did not finish all of these games, nope.

Oh man. You're missing out on the best game in the series because you didn't like the worst game in the series. Those two games couldn't be more different.

Is the battle/combat system even remotely similar?

Not really. The first one is closer to something like FFVII than XC2. It feels a lot more real time in the first one and there isn't any of that blade/driver nonsense.

I just watched some videos on it and I think I'll pass. I appreciate the recommendation though

Oh yeah, I'm not knockin' the story at all. I just dislike the combat/battle system so much that it trumps anything else.

Funny how tastes goes sometimes XC2 was my most played game on Switch, even more than Zelda and I found the combat system one of its strongest point, a tad unclear at the beginning but growing stronger and stronger with each layer. While I found Octopath Traveler to be absolutely garbage (and I did force myself to finish it...)
As for XC1, almost at the end of it, combat slightly worse than the sequel but really, really strong story. We can agree on Ys 8 at least

Haha I'm fully aware that my opinion of XC2 is not a very popular one, and I appreciate that different people will agree and disagree with me on the list What did you find to be garbage about OT?
|
haha, yes, that’s the whole point of talking about stuff anyway
As for OT, I found the battle system okay-ish. Takes a while to get going though (which is a serious issue in this game, see my next point) and I found the game lacked challenges other than the 4 secret jobs bosses to make full use of it.
But the absolute breaking point is in the complete lack of story. Sure there’s the tiny thread that binds the 8 characters together with the “secret boss” but that’s like 1% of the game and you have to endure 50+ hours of nonsense, cliché to get to that point. The lack of bonding between the characters is extremely problematic as there’s 0 sense of attachement between the player and the team. The division in chapters makes the matter worse.
Game’s gorgeous though and has great music, I’ll give you that!
