Yea, most switches are being sold on Amazon and other resellers around 600$, it is ridiculous. I really wanted to get one for Pokemon Sword & Shield, but I'd rather get a new PC set up if I am going to spend 600$+ on Console + Controllers + Games + Internet subscription + Etc.

I don't know if anyone wants a Switch Lite, but they're "only" around $200-$250 on Amazon, brand new:

I updated my tier list of all the Nintendo Switch games I've played to date, organized by which games I liked/ would recommend the most to the least:

Solo, yeah, I really enjoyed it I think there's a demo you can try out before you buy it (and obviously, plenty of gameplay videos on YouTube to watch).

Nope, the Switch is the console that can be both handheld and docked, playable as both a handheld console and a console you can plug into your television and play with a controller. It works both ways. The new Lite version is handheld-only though.

Yeah, I do remember being surprised at reading your post and took a look for myself. The regular Switch is also sold out everywhere I looked but the Lite is available. I bought the Switch as a 3DS replacement but ended up mostly playing in docked mode on the couch. I rarely use it as a handheld unless there's some basketball/football on tv.

Btw, if you do get Pokemon Sword/Shield, I'd recommend the digital version. I still play it a few minutes here and there post-game. It's a pain to keep switching out cartridges whenever I'm playing something else that's also physical.

This is the first generation of console where I'm slowly transitioning from physical to digital games. I have every N64 cartridge, a ton of GameCube/ Wii/ Wii U discs, and I started off my Switch collection with physical copies, but I've completely switched to everything digital now.

Switch shortage is going to continue for a while, most of the parts if not all are made in China and for obvious reasons production levels are reduced right now.

Anyone looking for a big time sink who finds Animal Crossing isn't for them should try Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. It's basically a game where all the enemies are a large boss fight. A huge variety in weapons and enemies. Can be pretty grindy though if that's an issue for you.

I have had a grand total of 1 digital Switch game before the pandemic hit. Found some games on sale in the eshop in April and now I check it regularly for deals. Too soon to tell what my buying habits will be once we get back to normal.

Of course, PC gaming has been digital for a decade now. And that's still my main system.

I'm still stubbornly collecting cardridges.
Even though the days of getting a manual or a map or w/e with the box are long gone. It's nice to look at a collection of cases.

I bought my Switch specifically to play a Monster Hunter game eventually on it. I can vouch for MHGU. It's a challenging game to get into if you haven't played a MH before but it has more content for your buck than about anything on the console. The multiplayer is very much still alive but you can play through most of the game solo.

Who follows Nintendo eshop sales religiously? There's one right now but I wonder if I should wait before buying anything. I'm playing way too much right now, money is a little tight and I'm cheap. The only things that went on sale are the games that are fairly low on my list, basically the ones that I'm only interested in if I run out of stuff to do. The games I really want did not go on sale.

Did a bit of digging and it feels like they have a few big rounds of sales during the summer. Is that right?

New Pokemon Snap for Nintendo Switch... apparently, it's going to have the graphics we had hoped Sword and Shield had:

Idk dude Nintendo doesn't do specials on their prime stock very often, if at all.

Mario Kart, Breath of the Wild etc never go on sale because they know that most people will just buy it anyway. All their launch titles are still full price 3 years on.
