The maps are the most disappointing in the series to date and the mini games suck compared to usual. I want to applaud them for going (back) in the right direction. I didn't play any mario parties past the third game or so, but some really weird shit with every player being in a car or something and moving together across the board?? Super mario party is much more similar to the old games, but unfortunately, the maps are too few and too short like you said. I also feel like the game doesn't swing as hard as it could in the old ones when it comes to who's winning. The game is so easy and so simplified, that I didn't even have to grind. At all. I just went through the game at a pretty standard pace, and easily beat everyone. Even in the post-game, the difficulty level is a joke. I honestly didn't even feel like I earned my wins; I just went through the motions and won everything, all the time. 7. Pretty sure I only used my money to accessorize my character (and to buy Poké Balls). I never needed to use items in fights, let alone whatever the other tabs (like berries) were. The only "held items" I ever used were two items that gave me more money and two items that occasionally replenished small amounts of health. I didn't use 99% of the things I picked up in the game. 8. Since the game was so effortless, I never even felt encouraged to switch in any new Pokémon I caught. I'm sure the late-game, high-level Pokémon I caught are really good, but I just used the same six Pokémon for the whole game. Had no reason not to, really. I haven't played any pokemon game past silver, but this doesn't sound much different, especially: 5. Depends if you consider trainer battles grinding, but you can get by with 2-3 pokemon in gen1 and just do trainer battles and breeze through the game. 7. Whenever i replay gen1 I never visit the pokemart except to get the few balls I need to finish up my small party 8. See above I used to think pokemon games got worse past Silver, but looking more objectively I suppose the biggest reason is because I'm not an obsessive 8 year old anymore. I suppose that applies to a lot of other gen1'ers too.

The latest one definitely falls flat there. It's true though. It used to be that winning all the minigames doesn't assure you victory since you need to play around the board as well, but now the board is so easily navigable that you can reliably nail the minigames and gun for the star steal every time. With some characters (Boo/Wario) you can also reasonably expect high rolls often, which wasn't an element previously. I always thought that 'anyone can win' and all the shenanigans was the main reason it made such a great party game, and seeing the clueless person who kept losing at all the minigames claim the win in the end. And no, getting an extra star for 'having just the right ally' doesn't count. We need the spaces that makes people trade stars, bowser communism, warping to the star should be rare, stealing stars should be more expensive, we should have less stars, bigger maps.... but they're close.

The report's author, Tom Phillips, has also taken to Twitter to suggest that HD versions of Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario 64 are also on the way. The author of the original report, Andy Robinson of VGC, has seconded those claims, while also stating that Super Mario 3D World and "other 3D Marios" will come to Switch. Original Article: Nintendo is set to remaster "most of Super Mario's 35-year back catalogue" on Switch to celebrate the franchise's 35th anniversary this year, according to a new report. Apparently, Nintendo is set to hold an event which will coincide with the anniversary, with all plans due to be revealed alongside new details of Nintendo’s partnership with Universal and more. The specific games theoretically coming our way haven't been mentioned, but the report mentions that as well as the remasters noted above, "several other Mario titles" are also launching in 2020, including a new Paper Mario game. As part of its anniversary celebrations, Nintendo will reveal plans to re-release most of Super Mario’s 35-year back catalogue this year, remastered for Nintendo Switch, VGC was told. As VGC’s network partner Eurogamer reported in a follow-up to our story, these remasters will include 1997’s Super Mario 64, 2002’s Super Mario Sunshine and 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo will also release several other Mario titles in 2020, including a new instalment in the Paper Mario series and a Deluxe version of 2013’s Super Mario 3D World.

RD is my favourite Wii game, favourite FE game as well, none of the new FE games have come close. Sadly I appear to be a minority so idk if they'll put in the effort of porting FE 9 and 10 to Switch. Excited to check out all these Mario games! I played Odyssey and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. The only other Mario game I played is the super mario bros on game boy color which was my first ever game... Missed all the games in between

But it makes sense considering FE's 30 year anniversary is in 3 weeks...but I fear Mario will overshadow it.

My two main Nintendo eras were N64 and the Switch, with a huge gap in between (I was mainly playing PC/ Blizzard games during the GameCube/ Wii/ Wii U generations), so while I've obsessively played Super Mario 64 and older Mario games, I've completely missed out on Sunshine, Galaxy, and Galaxy 2. I loved Odyssey, and I would love it if they brought back the interim Mario games I missed out on.
