why is tesla valued higher than volkswagen when theyve been writing losses for years now? the price to earnings ratio should go into infinity (being mathematically accurate, it shouldnt be calculable)
and how does palladium reach an all time high while the automobile sector drives back production and cuts costs across the board? im not aware of other uses for that metal.
Dividing by negative numbers doesn't give infinites or uncalculable results. It just gives negative results.

hmm, did i just confuse it with that rule about square roots? should be something i was taught at high school. i feel dumb now :p

Square roots of negative numbers give imaginary results

Given how explicit Trump now is about this Ukraine Biden situation, do you guys think he will ever admit defeat in the elections? He clearly doesn't give a fuck anymore now that Pelosi will never impeach him and all his people found out they can just ignore congressional subpoenas.
|
I do, I think he will make a big stink but when push comes to shove he is a coward. The same way he won't fire people in person I don't think he would do what would amount to starting a civil war. I think if he loses the election he will make a bunch of claims about how he won, it is rigged or whatever. But I don't think he will actually do anything about it.

I imagine someone will explain to him how much richer he'll get after leaving and he'll go peacefully honestly. Him losing is far from in the bag though.

Whether or not he admits defeat isn't relevant when no one is going to start a civil war for him.

Whether or not he admits defeat isn't relevant when no one is going to start a civil war for him. This came up a couple months ago and The Independent interviewed some experts and it basically would come down to which side law enforcement took.
“If Trump decided that the election was illegitimate, and he was going to resist actually leaving office, he would – I don’t know whether he would try to arrest his opponent and stop them from appearing to take over the office, or whether he would just say on January 21, ‘I’m not leaving’,” Mr Quirk says.
“At some point, the question would become: whose orders do law enforcement obey? Because it would ultimately become a matter of the use of force in one direction or another.”

Think you'd have a harder time finding cops willing to arrest the president. We can bet Democrats would let him stay in office for months while the election was certified and recertified then they'd have to wait for formal congressional action and if it managed to get passed the senate they'd wait for the supreme court.
Then it ultimately comes down to trusting the SC and law enforcement side with Democrats. A dubious endeavor to say the least imo.
EDIT: I imagine you'd have to sort out Republicans arguing it was rigged in races they lost at the federal and state level around the country as well.
EDIT2: Worse yet we could get clearly rigged results in favor of Trump then we'll have a real mess.

Yeah I feel that something like this will be the play if the result is anything but a big defeat for republicans. If it's only a few % they wil delay delay delay, then either a bad SC decision or him just going "Can you believe the democrats still haven't accepted the 2020 loss! They provide fake voting results but it was clearly a landslide for me. So many dollars wasted in appeals. Donate for the 2024 campaign on this website'
I'm not sure it will be anything close to a civil war when he just lets it be in legal limbo somehow for ages while everyone slowly continues with the status quo of him continuing in the White House. People have accepted tweet driven foreign policy somehow. People have accepted zero press conferences somehow. People accept him altering weather charts for his personal vanity somehow. People accept him ignoring the emoluments clause completely somehow. I don't know what the limit is that people will accept.

It boils down to when people stop accepting Democrats placating them with empty promises of accountability they couldn't keep if they wanted to.
Democrats like to blame Republicans but that's like blaming the fox for talking you into putting it in charge of hen house security.
|
I agree, its unreasonable to hold Republicans accountable for being shitty human beings, because being shitty human beings is an immutable part of their character. Sounds great.

Doubt it's immutable but their worldview is pretty well ingrained as has been amply demonstrated.
As long as people let Democrats continue to enable Republicans and refuse to hold Democrats accountable out of fear of Republicans then Republicans will continue to run roughshod over them.
It's sorta amazing to me how easily duped Democrats are into supporting for president a Reaganomics Republican that helped people like Carson be put in charge of HUD for example.
|
Oh, well if their views are ingrained, then fuck, can't blame them for that. Their actions are clearly now the responsibility of everyone around them.

Well we're all products of the society we grow up in and on a planet with interconnected systems so we all share responsibility and the fallout if we fail.
Not sure I get the point you're trying to make though?

I don't think it has hit people yet as to the disaster this election is going to be. Like a volcano waiting to erupt. Doesn't matter who wins, both sides will contest the result. I've been thinking about it more and more lately. I cannot imagine the current GOP and Republicans around Trump even allowing a fair election to take place.
They already tested this by not having primaries for those to challenge Trump on the ticket, one reason to keep Trump off a debate stage. But what happens when he does in fact become the nominee again? IMO the only way Trump shows up to any of the debates is if it's against Biden. I can't see the GOP allowing Trump to be on a debate stage with Warren, Sanders, or Harris. They will walk all over him. So if Trump claims all R challengers are joke, and the debating the D nominee is not needed, whose to say he won't claim having an election is not needed ...since he made America great again and the D's can't be trusted etc....
I remember hearing someone, maybe an author of one of Trump's books, say that Trump has to rig every game he plays. So whats the best way to avoid losing in the election? To not have it, or rig the results. Or for him to resign which I can't see him doing (can't lose the election if you are not in it wink wink). Seriously though, lets just say it's Trump v Biden, the day before the election, and all signs point to Trump losing, do you really think Trump will just sit back and allow himself to lose the election?
We all like to think Trump is stupid, but he knows the only reason him and probably most of his family are not in jail is because he is president. And he knows that all changes the second he loses an election and someone else is sworn in as president. They are going to do whatever is takes to make sure he wins again... I'm telling you the volcano is rumblin' and tumblin' and nobody is ready for it...
|
IMO the only way Trump shows up to any of the debates is if it's against Biden.
Why do you think Trump would skip an opportunity to call Warren "Pocahontas" during a debate?
|
I think no one knows what Trump will do including Trump. He will do whatever his gut tells him in the moment because his gut is smarter than anyone or anything. At least this is his belief. He is wildly unpredictable on what he will do to be the biggest news story all we can be sure of is he will be the biggest news story.
|
I'm more worried about after he's out of office. If he isn't censured, well...who knows what he'll tell. I also think he has to be barred from going international as well. He's way too much of a liability.
