He got 10 for the sentence whereas I got 2 words plus a letter for 11 points. Yeah that's why i asked. Why would that be a bad strategy? Well, their word guesses helped me solve the puzzle... That goes true for everyone else that is playing though. Except the person guessing presumably already has a good idea as to what the word is, and so you're helping others much more than yourself by actually guessing the word. Gotcha. In that case, if you or anyone else has any suggestions on how to improve the rules then I'm all ears. If you still want the champion to be the guy who solves the sentence and don't do points in the championship game as well, i don't think there is a good adjustment. I think current rules are fine though, it just wasn't completely clear. The reason I didn't add points for the championship game is because some people are way too ahead of others that even winning the championship game wouldn't make a difference. For example: In Season 1, rotta had 53 points after the season ended. Which meant that no matter how hard people tried, they probably wouldn't be able to win over rotta. Even if I did raise the Championship Game to give out more points, that doesn't automatically mean that rotta won't take some of those points as well. That's why I went with this format for the championship game. It gives others an opportunity to try to win it despite being down in points. But the people with high points still needed some kind of advantage for participating in the regular season, which is why I made the revives system. That's not what we meant by points. I'd assumed that everyone who qualified started at 0 again within the championship game, and that whoever got the most points by the end of the championship game would win. But it really doesn't matter as long as it's clear that the winner is just the person that gets the sentence rather than the person with the most points in the championship game. Ohhhh~ I get it now. Now that I understand what you've been talking about, I'll take some time to think about whether or not that's what I want to do.
Because now I see that giving out points would give people incentive to guess the word rather than just try to get the whole sentence.

There are downsides to it though. For example since I was at 11 points, The_Templar would be incentivized not to guess the sentence even though he knew it and get more points through words before being able to end the game by catching the golden snitch guessing the sentence.

In general i don't think we would want people to not guess the whole sentence because someone got 11 points before (aka 2 words plus one letter). So maybe the whole sentence should be worth a little more for the championship game if you wanna go with a point based system in the deciding hangman to begin with :D

I was thinking along the lines of 3 points for letters, 10 points for words and 30 points for the whole sentence.

Championship Game Rules:
- Only the Top 10 are allowed to participate: TBD
- You may use 5 points from your remaining total to PM Seeker to guess a letter in secret
- You may use 10 points from your remaining total to PM Seeker to guess a word in secret
- You CANNOT PM multiple letters and words in a single PM. Each PM must contain either a letter guess or a word guess. The next PM cannot be sent until Seeker responds first
- If the letter/word guessed is correct, it remains a secret. If the letter/word guessed is incorrect, then it gets revealed to the public
- An incorrect letter guess will result in the loss of 1 life
- An incorrect word guess means the person who guessed is out
- An incorrect sentence guess means the game ends there
Revives
- For every 10 points you accumulated during the regular season, you get a revive.
- The cost to come back after an incorrectly guessed word is 1 revive.
- If an incorrect sentence guess occurs then the game has ended. However, 2 revives can be used to bring the sentence back into play.
- Revives cannot be shared and revives cannot be combined between players

Interesting new rules. Points during the season now mean something
|

I actually thought about guesses in secret but figured that would be too much work for you, apparently not Interesting changes though!

This is a great change actually. Like Acro said, points matter now.

Do the rules involving consecutive guesses apply to secret guesses? That seems hard to track. Because otherwise I'm pretty sure the best strategy is just to PM all the letters you can think of to Seeker immediately (the highest ranked players should have 5 or 6 secret letters available at least ), and as soon you get a reply make an easy sentence guess. Seems lame that people would just have easy wins due to extra information.
Not really a fan of these new rules--paying points for consecutive guesses would be simpler especially logistically.
