With the recent $25,000 sOs jumped over half a million USD earned in SC2 bar. After MC he is second player to do so - he also overtook MC as top SC2 earner of all time.
This also makes him 113th player of all time by earnings.
For those interested - both Flash and Jaedong are top Starcraft earners with Jaedong slightly higher combined earnings and Flash being top SC:BW earner by far.
First off, congrats to sOs for this historic achievement. I know he has made his family extremely proud, not only realizing his childhood dream, but also being compensated for it financially.
Secondly I was quite happy to see that Snute is currently the highest earning foreigner. This guy works as hard if not harder than almost everyone else - yet he seems to be the hardest on himself. I hope he will one day learn to be proud of his accomplishments, even when he fails to place as high as he hopes in tournaments etc. Being motivated to keep improving and working diligently are of course essential to maintaining competitive top form, but there is always a balance, and beating ones self up over ones "Failings" is not the most healthy way to go about motivating ones self.

Edit : Showtime is German and not Polish
Aligulac probably just didn't update recent results
They did. No one ever earned 500K on aligulac. MC is n°1 with 495K $$ and sOs's earnings include the IEM money
Earnings isn't exactly a primary focus for aligulac, results are more important. I would imagine at some point someone forgot to enter the earnings for a specific result and that's it. Probably more than a single time if I had to guess.

If we count Afreeca balloons from spon matches, Flash has probably made millions.

It's just prize pool alone from tourneys. It doesn't take into account salaries as well (perhaps earnerer is not the best term because of that).

If you're joking that I mislabeled Showtime than fair enough. If you're asking seriously then the answer is - it isn't. Poland just has three players at the top (well Mana is no longer top player but he earned quite a bit). The 4th player - Tefel - is a lot lower.
I never understood this fascination with (prize) money.
Obviously it's very important to the players themselves, but why do the fans care? It's not like they are getting a cut or something. What does it matter to them whether their favorite player won 10k or 100k?
More prize money in the scene as a whole is important, because it's a useful metric of how healthy/sustainable the scene is. But more prize money for this specific player or that specific player.........who cares?

Just another metric to look at in order to gauge a player's career success. Of course, there's always a lot of caveats with prize pools, since more $$$ doesn't always mean more prestigious tournaments. Back in 2011, MLG champions only won $5K - a laughable amount for a premier tournament nowadays.

I think a lot of us fantasize and look up to those players, and its kinda tough to see people at the top of our favorite game making money.
Also, its not just those people at the top, I'd want my favorite player to make enough prize money for a sustainable career. Keep in mind Scarlett wanted to pursue a Dota 2 career just 3 years ago, I'd have to imagine part of the reason would be how SC2 wasn't that lucrative for her.
