I don't think he was, I can't remember if he was still recovering from fleeing the wildlings or not, but he was using a bow during the battle mostly (he hesitated on shooting Yigrette). If he did any melee I don't think it was really anything like a 1 on 1.

The thing I take away from GoT very little combat is 1 v 1. Which is why I always found Jamie's comment about who could beat him very telling about his character. He prides himself on his ability as a duelist as a way to humiliate other men. We never hear much about his abilities on the battlefield.

In the book there were 2 battles with the wildlings at the wall. One Jon was still recovering, and was just at aa tower shooting arrows. He marked all his artows to be able to know if je killed his gf. The other one I believe Thorne didn't let him do anything.

Didn't he do some fighting beyond the wall? It has been so long.

Yes, he killed the Fookin Legend.

I mean I actually think you're generally on the right track (the show has a lot more emphasis on combat REPUTATION as opposed to actual ABILITY)... but when they capture Jaime in battle there are some offhand comments about how many Stark men he killed before they got him.

I am not saying Jamie or anything. Only that someone saying only three other people could take him in a duel is a prize fighting boxer says.

Whatever happened to old Edmure?
|
Arya left him to starve in the dungeon.
|
Was that in the show? Or you just screwing with me?

i'd say he gets to Gendry's mystical boat of forbidden characters
pretty much the same crap the did with Blackfish, I still hate Benioff and Weiss for such decisions and Stannis before and Ser Barristan previously and the worst possible way they introduced sandsnakes, which follows with horrible cut off
such reminders makes me mad :D

He is completely forgotten in the show. He was either rotting in a dungeon with the Freys and Arya did not release him on screen or he ended up with the Lannisters and Grey Worm did not release him on screen. It's possible that he was taken to Highgarden or King's Landing when the Lannisters abandoned their castle, but again nothing has been shown. It's a pretty significant plot point that has been completely dropped since going off book.

I just looked up Wilko Johnson, who played Ser Ilyn Payne, and he is alive and well.

It's funny to think that the producers are even more bloodthirsty than Martin because all of these extra storylines need to be "closed".

Who remembers Kinvara? The other hot Red Priestess + Show Spoiler + It seems they also get rid of her

What's the easiest way to get rid of a good character - unreasonable death. Now imagine they never blew up Septa with sparrows and Margery/Loras, it could've been much worse :D

And we didn't get something that wasn't in the show so why are you posting about it in this topic in the show

Oh I am messing with you. We know that Edmure is still a prisoner of the freys as Walder Frey says it on the episode Arya kills him. Maybe he was let go but who knows.

Obviously briennes quite good, and I can't predict or understand the internal logic anymore as it seems to have collapsed, but it seems she is slightly over hyped like most leaders and soldiers in this world. Even Jon is being called the worlds best swordsman Did Jon even won a serious fight in books? The only reason he managed to kill half-hand was because half-hand let him do it, at least Jons believes that. And as far as I remember , he never had another death sword battle. It depends, he killed a wight which is no small feat, but is probably his biggest win in anything resembling head to head combat. The book doesn't (or hasn't yet) had the ninja effect on wights like the show has and I think the wight was unarmed?
Lol if s7 showed us anything, it's that killing wights is not particularly hard.

TV shows always present a single new enemy as a huge threat but within a few seasons the heroes slaughter them by the hundreds. Remember the first time the guys from Supernatural encountered a real demon? That was a big fucking problem and an almost unstoppable foe. Couple of seasons later they're cannon fodder.
