I don't understand the FireCake situation. He didn't throw any games right? He went for 2 risky cheesy all-ins and they failed.
A drone pull spine push is a legit strategy which we have seen multiple times during sc2 and not once so far has it been called a throw. FireCake wanted to hide his strategies for Hydra since he already wasn't confident in beating him, which I consider a legit move for playing a tournament.
He tried this risky strategy once more to surprise his opponent, it didn't work. Too bad.
It's still a legit strat and not at all comparable to a probe pull for example.
Also how did he disrespect anybody? I as a fan certainly don't feel disrespected and I don't think he insulted anybody. He tried to win while hiding strategies, but could not. That's nothing to be punished for.
I don't really care about the ban since he doesn't want to play BTTV tournaments any more anyway. But I think painting him as the evil guy here is not fair. He played and lost, that's all. He didn't disrespect anybody and didn't break any rules.
Standard Firecake stuff. He's done stuff like this and acted like a complete jerk multiple times in the past; I don't know why people are surprised about how awful he acts. =/

organizers trying to make themselves bigger than the talent in the classic tradition of totalbiscuit
look, i don't care for "bad boy" players - don't like naniwa, not a big fan of firecake, etc. but bttv isn't taking a moral high ground here, they're just making it about rifkins dick versus firecakes dick, and i can't imagine anything more childish and boring. i watch for players, not organizers

i do watch for really well organized events. so the organizers do matter. if they are really great organizers they are not noticed at all. What happens is i keep watching their events in the future.

adding to your point, BTTV uses this description "to have this sentence significantly reduced" BTTV is the new 53rd State of the USA or maybe BBTV is the new 11th Province in Canada. BTTV hands out "sentences".
the NFL , NHL , and NBA hand out suspensions. BTTV delivers "sentences". I never knew Rifkin even went to law school.. much less was a judge.

how did Firecake disrespect the fans and the sponsors?

if you are going to start using words like "sentence" for your punishment then a counter argument is necessary for a fair trial.
I was looking forward to see something new about Rogue's state of mind when he plays against the Poltmaster, also wanted to Nerchio and Ryung do well ... a great group btw ... and then there is a chat about banning a player, because he rushed in the game?????? BTTW :-(((
Polt was way too passive, letting the zerg creep the entire map.... or drone as much as he wants... and build tanks while there is no roach warren, or don't build a single liberator vs mass mutas....
Oh hes banned after not being a push over and apologizing for YOUR lack of information. Goodbye basetrade, i used to tolerate your crap for the games but im done. Its not worth the second rate casting and tyrannical reactions to any player that stands up to one of their rules.. its stupid and not what the starcraft community needs. Rethink your attitude before your organization falls under because sponsors dont want to be represented by children.
Then you proceed to make a video making fun of him on youtube. REAL MATURE BRO

instead of a silly edited VOD they should've just posted the actual game(s). if necessary they can edit out the swearing.
maybe its time for Rifkin to embrace the whole "evil promoter" angle and use it to his advantage.
You are using your audience to make firecake look evil. You know he has always been hated, despite being one of the most serious and fairplay player. I'm glad to see some people read his tweetlonger though. Ogaming already abused their power to make him look like a bad guy, millenium refused to recruit him because their very pretentious line-up made of lilbow/mlord didn't accept him, firecake has always had trouble on the scene, he owes nothing to organizations, he has built his success over hard work and huge talent.
edit: I had commented on the firecake situation before i realized this was the thread for the whole tournament. I don't want to derail the thread from current matches.
