We'll go ahead and start this post with a quick word from our sponsor:
We're glad to be back in the esports world, sponsoring another SC2 event with another awesome tournament organizer! Rifkin and ZombieGrub have been great to work with and we couldn't think of a better team to represent the Ting brand for us.
Over the next two months we'll be running some exciting stuff for viewers, including a smartphone giveaway and other fun content. We'll be popping into the stream every once in awhile too, so make sure to say hi. We'll also be posting the official #TingOpen trophy next week on Twitter, so keep an eye out for that!
If you're interested in Ting, use bttv.ting.com to get $25 in service credit if you bring over your own phone, or $25 off a new phone in the Ting shop. If you have any questions, feel free to comment below and I'll respond!
Can't wait for the Ting Open to start - see you in Twitch chat

Just want to say that as someone who doesn't talk much on the phone or use too much data, Ting works out great for me as one of the cheapest plans available. Never had an issue reception-wise either. Thrilled to see them once again involved in a SC2 tournament.
2am and 5am starts for the wildcard qualifiers for east coast AU ouch. 11pm/3am start for west coast and most of SEA too. I get wildcard doesn't refer just to SEA/ANZ, but I assume we have the majority of the players looking to qualify for these spots but the times are pretty brutal. I hope we can potentially shift these a bit as I'd love to play.

While we did fight to allow SEA/ANZ to even compete, the wild card qualifiers are more intended for those that failed in the other qualifiers wanting a second chance, with the acceptance of all the other regions. Groups, Ro8 and Finals will all be bad times for the same people that can't compete in the qualifiers. It's unfortunate, but it's how we have to do it!

Why is it so? Ting demanded it?
Latin Americans, Africans, SEA and Middle East region are really screwed considering that the Wild Cards will go to people who failed at the regional qualifiers... that they can't participate in.
I think it's a bit silly and unnecessary, but I guess they have their reasons.
YESSSSSS! Basetrade hype! Love the work you do for sc2 and the community and I can't wait for this! Rifkin is a rad casting vampire and Zombiegrub is a terran-reppin' hottie :D Love the casts and love their archon mode. They have fun and they play the best race. Spam the interwebs ppl!!! Respek knuckles!
(Note: We've heard some mumurs that the koreans are not a fan of the qualifiers being double elimination. We'll look into this with other players and perhaps adjust future qualifiers)

Basetrade, please, let Pomi cast this cup!!! Yeah, yeah, russians dont give a fuck about rights, an he'll stream this anyway, but the only one who suffer is a viewer like me. He see a source quality from your stream, but we are see restream - a soapy lagging horseshit instead of good picture, so please, save an esporsts in Russia! I guess he'll glad to be an official caster and can do that marketing stuff, or how do you call it, in our native language.
Good Luck guys, and thank you for providing much starcraft content! Sorry for my poor english, from Russia with love!
Pomi is a thief and you should just be watching our stream anyways. We don't care about supporting those who support content theft (you in this instance) sorry.
Congrats to MaSa, Hydra & viOLet on winning the NA qualifier Kelazhur will get the tournament's first invite (loser's seed) based on his crazy run (He's accepted)
Check-in's are under way for the EU Qual #2 http://challonge.com/TINGEUQual2 PLEASE BE SURE TO CHECK-IN, JUST BECAUSE YOUR NAME IS ON THE BRACKET DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE CHECKED IN. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT [ADMIN]OLIMOLEY ASAP After the stream is finished today we'll also be figuring out the 2 EU post-invite slots. If you plan to fail, at least do it magnificently so that we are more inclined to bring you back GLADIATOR STYLES!
Also since it's been asked, any EU players that do not qualify & are not selected for invite spots may compete in the wild card qualifiers(at their own risk)

Wild Card Qualifiers dates were changed to avoid clashing with the WCS Ladder Challenger stuff
One of the times were changed to accommodate SEA/ANZ timezones
Feb 16 @ 1PM PST / Feb 17 @ 10 AM PST
A reminder that anyone from any region can compete in these. The default server is NA CENTRAL, but can be changed if both players agree (or agree to rotate during the Bo3)

I'm actually glad that this sort of thing happens because it'll get some attention quickly. It's obvious that something is wonky with protoss right now.
Would have followed this if zerg was not that OP (considering the map pool). Kinda sad. Play P and Z myself and love to see the best. But right now its rediculus.

It was a caster given nickname that he went with if I remember right. I'm 99% sure the casters called him Ironman day 1 so he rolled with it and played as Ironman for like a week. It was just a cool storyline that got dropped
Ignoring the invited players (1 of each race) we have 1 toss, 10 terran and 7 zerg...
And yet toss can't get a buff, only doubled nerfed. Thank god I did not buy lotv. I only watch lotv, yet it seems toss loses a crazy amount of the times, especially vs zerg... I find it funny how some of even the best NA toss players like state, pili and huk all complain how imba zerg is, makes you wonder how small the percentage of people (aka top tier korean) manage to make toss look even or better in certain situations.
Ive been playing zerg recently, and they are rather easy race. So I guess if I ever get lotv (like in a giveaway or something) at least I will have a race to play....
But back to the topic... There are 6 wildcard spots, maybe basetrade can make it an all toss wildcard... That would bring the numbers closer to parity.

Honestly, while I don't like the race distribution, qualifiers are honestly a tough thing to measure balance from. While something may look imba from a certain perspective, there could be a variety of factors like energy level, preparedness, mental state, etc.
Also, look at Protoss mid-late 2014 with the widowmine buff. Terran swung the other way and destroyed Toss for a good amount of time, but with time and map changes, they actually did awful in 2015 with 3 tournament wins. People learned to deal with widowmines, and they'll learn to deal with Zerg.
Now it is questionable whether the widowmine buff was beneficial for the TvP/PvT matchup or if made the matchup more stale, but right now, we just need time for Protoss to adapt.
Important information regarding tonight's qualifier:
- http://challonge.com/TINGWCQual1 - Reminder that time was changed to Tuesday, Feb 16 9:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) - Server default is NA - Central (players may play off server if both agree) please note that this only applies to Wild Card #1. Wild Card #2 will be European default - Anyone is able to play, rank is not required, and anyone who played in a previous qualifier is allowed to play in this qualifier
I don't understand why people complain about in-stream ads. I'd rather see that become the norm as long as people are responsible with it (like BaseTradeTV is) as it would probably attract more sponsors than "lol I turned on adblock".
Rifkin is so full of shit. The sortof situation could have been easily handled in about 3 minutes by just casting game 2. Instead you wasted like 30 minutes being a cry baby about it and casting 0 games instead of at least 1 of 3.
Why didn't they just let sortof start 1-0 since he beat firecake in the first game regardless if it was streamed or not? Seems pretty dumb to have to replay game 1 if sortof won fairly

Yeah and they could just replay cast too.
Well the situation just sucks now, since it even messes with the loser bracket. Could've been easily avoided by BTTV imo.

Agreed, at least rifkin got to run more Ting ads since there were no games being casted.

I guess Rifkin feels that it's his tournament and his rules are absolute on this after he specifically told Firecake not to play without the casters, so no compromise. Specifically because this was a qualifying match.

I think Firecake's ok with replaying game 1 but sortof won't have any of it. From Rifkin's perspective, they messed up game 1, so the only thing to do is to replay game 1, which is only prevented by SortOf being unhappy about having to do it seemingly arbitrarily.

Yeah so FireCake seems to be at fault here? No way you can just force SortOf to play again imo.
Give a warning to FireCake to never start without casters again and cast the replay.

Rifkin's just not happy that it didn't go the way he intended and he's adamant that they stick with his rules.

It's not arbitrarily - he won, so now you are telling him he needs to win 3 of 4 not 2 of 3.
Players were told to wait for caster before playing. Sortof asked Fck to host, so he did, and started game w/o the casters cause he forgot. During game, Zombiegrub went on Fck stream to told that the game would not count w/e the results.

Is it true ? Some other guy wrote that firecake pressed Sortof to host the game... Anyway I think if the 1st game was already played they should have just casted the replay and the second game live.
If BTTV really meant to sent a message like "never ever play a game without caster" then they should have disqualified both players (WTF is that ban ? that doesnt make any sens)

Honestly, I love BTTV, but every now and then Rifkin does or says something so annoying I have to take a break for 2-3 weeks.
Rifkin should've told the whole truth on stream. Instead he gives a really short explanation omitting details that make him look good and sortof look bad.
I still side with Rifkin, but he gets a D+ in PR relations with the public for his one-sided story.

I believe it to be true yes. Firecake said so on his stream, but I wasn't there when it started so I can't confirm. Thing is that both players were made aware to wait for caster, so both are to blame here. Sortof could just refuse to play instead of saying "I won the game, so we keep the win or I forfeit".
The raction of Sortof is childish. When you are a pro and take part in a tournament, you just follow what admins are saying. If you prefer to forfeit and take a 2 months ban, then you just have to grow up.

Honestly rifkin is so full of himself I cant even stand him. From my point of view a won map is a won map, If it was firecake that started the match as a host then its his fault and should be grateful to even get the opportunity to replay the game, let alone get a w/o lol. Way to go bttv

Ok, I thought he knew, my bad. Still, no reason to disagree on the re-play, just accept the apologies and start over the serie. Even if you throw,it is still better than 2 months ban. When you prefer to take the 2 months ban, maybe you don't deserve to be called "professional" gamer. A "real life" job would get you fired for less than that.

What do you mean with "real life" job. This is a competition, playing this game again makes the competition and the results a joke. In no other sport would a game like this be played again, if only one team was aware of the rules and is at fault. If a rematch was really enforced, every professional sportsman/team would and should complain.
Once again, warn FireCake and cast the replay. Everybody is happy, no drama at all, the bracket is fine.
If they really want to punish someone, just DQ FireCake for starting the game after explicitly being told not to (I would not agree with this since it was an honest mistake from FireCake I think, but it's 100 times better than forcing SortOf to play again).

Well, let me disagree with that. Both players were aware of the rules, both players have to agree for the game to start and both did. Also, it was decided before the end of the game that it woult not count.
SortOf did not now that they should not start without casters. Only FireCake had this information. FireCake was told not to start without casters and still did. SortOf knew nothing. In no world should he be forced to play that game again.
Taking in account a game that wasn't played acccording to the rules feels quite amateurish no? To me, the right decision was to warn Firecake for the stupid mistake, obviously. Then try to find a way with the player. I believe Firecake would have accepted the loss if asked, but it wasn't the case from my understanding. Sortof just got mad straight and chose the ban. As such, it is deserved.

depends on the real life job.
if you're a toronto cop you can shoot a 120 lb guy 9 times who is 20 feet away from you holding a 2 inch knife surrounded by police officers and you get 6 months paid vacation .. and when you are declared guilty by jury they still don't even convict you.
you can do lots of bad things and not get fired if you have a strong enough union.
This is the exact tangent we need to get on
no one is getting fired so i have no idea why that guy brought it up and went off on a tangent.

If they had told both players to wait with the game, or something was in the rules which would've told SortOf that casters had to be in this game, I would agree with you!

there is no published rule set. Rifkin just said "cause rules". i didn't see it anywhere in the event related published stuff and Rifkin never named the rule # specifically in his overly simplified explanation.

Obviuosly both players have to be requested to hold the match, or this can easily be exploited to get a rematch if only 1 player is aware of the fact that casters should be in the game. And also how did he lack professionalism? He did not flame or insult anybody. What he did was very professional. He was trying to uphold the legitimacy of the competition and all the rules that he could've known about. Any player in his postion should refuse to play map 1 again.

Read SortOf tweets, he was alway professional and only stated facts in a calm manner. He is the one that tried to apply the rules. There is only drama because BTTV made a bad decision and handled the situation very poorly.
SortOf is the only person who is not at fault. Both FireCake and BTTV failed.

The rule is smart, since it can be assumed that both players have to be requested to hold the game not just one (otherwise it can be exploited). Since SortOf was not informed, the rule was not broken and the game counts.
Well I really have to sleep, if you are still not convinced we can agree to disagree. Was till nice discussing this in a calm manner, good night .

Childish tantrums are the opposite of professionalism. I mean wow, Rifkin giving SortOf a 2 month ban on top of it? How petty can you get?
Rifkin said on stream that he was supposed to permaban SortOf but he was not willing to. This is how it ended up being "only" 2 months. Rules were followed, despite how stupid they are. Stop the drama now and helps providing better rules if you don't like them.

I agree that it can be assumed that both players have to be requested to hold the game not just one. Still, the one that has the power to apply the rules did not assumed it. You can disagree, fact is that Rifkin was allowed by the rules to take the decision he took. Maybe if Rifkin was more clear about which part of the rules applies SortOf wouldn't have said in his tweet that no rules support the decision. And the worst part, let's face it, is players not involved starting the drama without trying to know the facts. Aaaaaaaand, good night my dear Good night to you too.

^^ How can you be so blind? YOU quoted: "If an admin request you hold your match....", the guy told you an admin did not request to hold the match, and your answer is "Rules doesnt apply to him?". The point was the rule does apply and a request was not made to the part about "YOU MUST WAIT" doesn't apply. If you are going to quote the rules then at least be able to follow the logic.
I can't tell if SChlafmann is not writing his thoughts clearly, or if he's contradicting himself.
Regardless, the end result is a poor situation for both BaseTradeTV and SortOf. Better communication was needed from BaseTradeTV to prevent such an occurrence. Placing the blame on SortOf entirely is comical.
^^ true. Rifkin should've provided a more detailed explanation. i'm 51% in favour of Rifkin on this debacle. When if he handled it in a much more transparent way I would've been 90% in favour of Rifkin.
if Rifkin continues with this "i never make errors ever" act it just adds fuel to the fire of the growing mob of people who've been banned from his chat for borderline innocuous stuff and can't wait to trash him in every public forum possible for the slightest transgression.

furthermore, there is no rule using the phrase "the score will not count".
are you just making shit up? or what?
you probably are referring to this rule which i copy and pasted from the site "Admins may postpone a match to allow casters or observers to join"
there is nothing in the rule that says "score will not count". Furthermore, the vague verb tense in the rule makes it sound like it is a match that is about to occur but has not begun yet. You can not postpone a match already in progress. The wording is vague, however, its clear someone somewhere broke the spirit of the rule.
BaseTradeTV reserves the right to change the rules at any time.
Whatever they say is right.
Furthermore:
Admins may postpone a match to allow casters or observers to join.
Sounds like BTTV should have at least given FC a formal warning if he knew about that but told SortOf to play the official match (though they don't have to), yet, they explicitely put it in the rules that they can delay matches. Whether SortOf knew about that is besides the point, ignorantia legis non excusat.
Never seen such unprofessional behaviour from a caster, and so many lies. Sure you can change a rule, but you can't change a rule after something happened and apply it to previous events.
Here you CLEARLY see the ADMIN telling SortOf to go to the EU server after the game was played, on instruction by RIFKIN.
Rifkin is the lowest of the low, he is what hurts the legitimacy of Esports. If we want starcraft to thrive as a game, we need to get rid of pathetic immature front figures of him. It is also quite disgraceful by him to the sponsor TING to handle something in their name so awfully and then completely lie about it.

even if he is lying ... as long as he pays out the $5,000 and runs the event the way BTTV usually runs things he is still of value to the community. and BTTV does good stuff over all. if he is lying though.. that stings.
Dumbledore's overly harsh criticism should be levied at guys who don't pay their prize pools. While Rifkin can sometimes circle the wagons and say "we never do anything wrong" at the worst moments I don't think the guy is a fraud at all. Rifkin has demonstrated high integrity over a long time period. My biggest criticism of the guy is he sometimes fails at PR. What can you expect though.. its not like BTTV employs 200 people along with a professional company spokesperson.
considering the resources one can reasonably allocate to this event i think we're getting a pretty good show.

You aren't immune to the rules, no need for name calling.
Since Firecake was apparently the only one informed, they should have punished him with a loss of a game (plus the one he already lost) and sent him to the loser bracket. Instead they punish the player that not only won, but didn't know they were supposed to wait for cast. It seems very unfair to SortOf and extremely fortuitous to FireCake, who was ironically the only person to break the rules since he was the only one informed.
Honestly, who would want to replay a game they already won while never breaking any rule (to their knowledge). If Firecake would have won I could understand a reset (on a dif. map). It's a bit unprofessional to not inform both players that they must wait AND on top of that punish the one they didn't inform for breaking a rule he didn't know was in place.
from what i can read about all the sortof question,i think is not sortof fault but bttv why not simply cast the replay?btw i can only judge by reading this thread so i dont know all the details but banning for 2 month is just low i rlly dont knwo the reason behind this

I was in the channel, I think I have a better understanding than you of the events that occured. I didn't take my own screenshots though, I didn't expect anything to escalate this far. I was wrong, I was also wrong in thinking that you were a person to expect professionalism from. And please, sarcasm doesn't make you look cool. Try to be the big man, bring some honesty to the table, people respect the truth.
Edit-- Also why do you act like FireCake had no choice but to follow SortOf? He is capable to act on his own. To say that SortOf grabbed him is just silly.
Didn't really expect anything else from BTTV there ego's have ballooned, i mean Rifkin cant even take being called a vampire on the chin.....hold up..... sucking the sc2 life blood from SortOf......confirmed sc2 vampire??
On topic though why didn't they just cast this from a replay and ask them to hold on15 mins (however long game one was) surely would have been the logical and quickest choice.

And this is why basetradetv is dead to me. Rifkin thinks he can just tell his viewers they are stupid and has the right to tell players to 'fuck off' as he said on stream yesterday. No appreciation for his audience.

In no world should he be forced to play that game again.
furthermore, there is no rule using the phrase "the score will not count".
are you just making shit up? or what?
you probably are referring to this rule which i copy and pasted from the site "Admins may postpone a match to allow casters or observers to join"
there is nothing in the rule that says "score will not count". Furthermore, the vague verb tense in the rule makes it sound like it is a match that is about to occur but has not begun yet. You can not postpone a match already in progress. The wording is vague, however, its clear someone somewhere broke the spirit of the rule.
Is this Reynor first appearance in a ""major"" international tournament? Congratulations to this little boy for the qualification. He's got a bright future ahead of him
It has a lot more to do with servers and time zones than anything else. Doing it this way also guarantees eventual KR vs Foreigner action, it just filters out the best of each first :-)
Ting is giving away a brand new Galaxy J7 smartphone. Ask Ting a question on Twitter (@tingftw) and use the hashtag #TingOpen to be entered to win! The question can be anything, it can be related to starcraft (ex. what race do you play/hate), related to Ting (ex. do you prefer Android or iOS?), or anything at all (how old are you?). Just keep it PG-13, please .
We'll be picking some of our favorite questions and answering them in an "AMA" style video that will be shown during the playoffs - viewers will win Ting swag if their question gets answered!
Winner will be announced on March 7 during EU Group 2.

Game 3 Nani vs Elazer, so much harass and work done early game only to get crushed by Lurkers, kinda sad. Protoss doesn't prep for Muta's or Lurkers doesn't seem to matter what you did early game, you still lose.

At least now we will have 1 toss out of 14 players. So that will help make the tourne more interesting. Would have been a bit of a disaster with no tosses (and if mana gets in, that will be 2/16 players are toss).

GROUP STAGE #2 INFO Random draw of 1st place and 2nd place finishers from Group Stage #1 will be placed into group stage #2
Okay so scheduling needs almost amounted to their own version of "seeding" as 11/16 players had requirements we had to work around (example: "can play any day except the 12th" vs "can only play on the 9th"). Not a single player was/is aware of who else is in which group leading into this as it's the first time any of this information is being revealed, so consider it 'blind seeding'?
I was worried at first, but this tournament has now achieved near perfect balance. It is slightly overrepresented on the Terran, but aside from that, every race had close to a 50% advancement rate. Also, I was surprised given Mana's performance in WCS that he 3-1 Marinelord. But congrats to Mana and Naniwa for carrying the Protoss flag :D
randomising the groups is really stupid in my opinion, it should be one of each region per group so 1korea 1eu 1na and 1wildcard. As it is now group D is definitely a group of death. I hope Nerchio can still manage it somehow.

If you read the post though, it says that 11 out of 16 players had some sort of constraint regarding the dates. In order to accomodate all players, the groups ended up looking like this. If they'd forced 1 per region per group there'd probably have been at least 1 forfeit per group, which would have sucked.

Hey, if Nerchio wants to prove that he's legitimately amazing, this is how.
Since the caster kept mentioning that the "gold base pushes Reality's income" - is that really true? As far as I know, a gold base doesn't really give more income than a normal one - you just need less workers for this max saturation, isn't it?. Meaning: If there are enough workers on the map, the gold base is not really that big of a deal. Is that true or am I totally wrong?

without wanting to derail the thread from the tournament: less money spent on workers early, means more money spent on units. Even if you go up to 60 workers, you can have 3,5 bases instead of 3
Firecake was contacted with almost a full 24 hours to provide a response, but has chosen not to (relevance of this statement in a moment to do with punishment). For those who don't know, while it wasn't publicized, after the qualifier incident for this tournament, he was given a formal warning / strike against him for his previous actions regarding sortof. This in mind, Firecake during the Ro16 chose to throw games, provide public misinformation via twitter, disrespect the fans, the broadcasters, and most importantly, the sponsors of this event. It is this last point that concerns us the most, as it's become more difficult over time to secure sponsorship for Starcraft 2 in general, and to have the amazing, generous folks at Ting treated this way by a player scares us of future involvement with him. We do not want to risk accusations of match fixing, letting the fans down, or deal with general misinformation from this player in the future. Thus, firecake has officially been banned from all BaseTradeTV related events for the next 9 months. He was offered the opportunity to have this sentence significantly reduced in exchange for an apology & explanation of his actions, but chose to argue instead.
Please understand that this was discussed internally for several hours, and even during the broadcast you can see both Rifkin & Zombiegrub try to brush off and avoid discussion of the incident to keep it from being a heated decision such as the one made in the qualifiers (we're learning!)
Prior to the last group being played, there is currently an equal Foreigner to Korean ratio 3:3
If we classify Polt as North American, there's a chance we have a 4:4 ratio for the Ro8
Regarding times for the Ro8/Semi-Finals & Finals: We've had to postpone posting times because we didn't want to commit to something that would work against the players schedule's, but it's safe to assume at this point we will most likely begin the Ro8 at Saturday, Mar 12 3:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00), and have Masa's (and possibly Polt's) matches play later in the morning. Since these are not typically NA friendly hours for play, we plan to run rebroadcasts in the afternoon for those that miss the games!

Honestly I 100% agree with your ruling. Firecake was a moron, why would he play in your tournament if he didn't want to play on the NA server? If he used his brain he would know "Koreans and NA players... Oh I will have to play on NA or KR". If that was such a problem for him he shouldn't have signed up.
I can't imagine you getting flak for this justified decision. Looking forward to watching the rest of the tournament

I don't understand the FireCake situation. He didn't throw any games right? He went for 2 risky cheesy all-ins and they failed.
A drone pull spine push is a legit strategy which we have seen multiple times during sc2 and not once so far has it been called a throw. FireCake wanted to hide his strategies for Hydra since he already wasn't confident in beating him, which I consider a legit move for playing a tournament.
He tried this risky strategy once more to surprise his opponent, it didn't work. Too bad.
It's still a legit strat and not at all comparable to a probe pull for example.
Also how did he disrespect anybody? I as a fan certainly don't feel disrespected and I don't think he insulted anybody. He tried to win while hiding strategies, but could not. That's nothing to be punished for.
I don't really care about the ban since he doesn't want to play BTTV tournaments any more anyway. But I think painting him as the evil guy here is not fair. He played and lost, that's all. He didn't disrespect anybody and didn't break any rules.

I must say, that was a great performance from Nerchio! But against Ryung, he does not have much chance. Maybe if Rogue loses, Nerchio could take him down ...

Unlike Cactus Valley though, it's been around for way too long already and looks bad.
He deserved it for clumping all his units as much as he could. There was also a point in that game where he was 170 to 100 supply because Snute went up to hive with no units, but still.
still better than 240 second auto-turrets/PDDs vs swarmhost though. LOTV made SOME end-game progress - i still think the interactions are kinda bad, and it's kinda difficult to play well enough to make the game exciting because you have to be even faster for that (imagine nukes everywhere, runbys, nydus, drop, all that stuff all over the map)
i tried to end the game sooner but avex - detox as a map is extremely difficult to close games on especially without mutas, i could start nydusing but it's way more comfortable to play with this unit composition to not die to mass liberator. didn't want a repeat of game 1 on lerilak crest. mass liberator is too intimidating sometimes to go for the 'pull terran apart'-strategy, especially once ghosts are out too. it's not like i can go for mass muta to poke away either once terran has established 3-4base and liberators, so this was the only thing i could do without taking massive risks

he deserved it for his stupidity of playing lategame against zerg.

Maybe this is the time of day he feels the most comfortable.
I think, this influenced Ryung in the last game as well ... at 4:00 a.m. after 40 minutes ... he just wanted to go to bed, so he tried that sky attack with all the risk ... poor Rogue :-(

Doesn't the JinAir vs SKT starts in 1d 13h? I don't get the schedule excuses like implying that a full time progamer had a full workday waking up at 7 AM so they are tired at 4 AM.... on Saturday

Yes, it will happen on Monday, which is tomorrow for Rogue. But when he goes to sleeep at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, one day before an important match, if I were the Jin Air coach, I would not like that ...

He can still sleep for basically an entire day if he has to.

He plays his proleague game in 37h+. I think some genious in his coaching team can work out a sleep schedule to get fresh to there

I know, he can ... I do not think, that is a problem for Rogue (except that he might be sleepy and tired now), but for the team, this could be a problem. I would not want one of my important players have switched day and night before a match ...
I wonder, what's the best way to defend the queen/ling drop as Terran? I guess you have to have a sieged tank and a medivac out by the time it hits, and some marines? Do you need a bunker in each base?

honestly I would just veto this map or wait for a lair requirement patch, his build really gets a lot of units out still he gets destroyed.

Well, I am not sure, how your body works :-) If somebody genious plans for you a schedule :-) For me, even when I plan a schedule, my body doesn't play with. When I switch the day with night, it takes quite a few days to get it back into normal. It is like a jet lag. In fact, I am living Los Angeles time in Central Europe ...

I feel like if he skipped the mine to get a quicker siege tank he could have held with good tank micro, but it might really be that you need a bunker in each base :/
Or I guess you go full MarineKing and make 3 barracks in the express pathway.

I think you can rest easy considering he won in like 30 minutes. Probably barely warmed up.
Games for the Semi-Finals will begin 1 hour earlier than they did today.
Sunday, Mar 13 2:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Rogue vs GuMiho Bo7 Sunday, Mar 13 4:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Snute vs MaNa Bo7
Also to note: If Gumiho wins the series, finals will play on Monday If Rogue wins the series, finals will play on Wednesday (avoiding conflicts with proleague)
Snute & Mana have both been informed and said this is acceptable. See you all tomorrow!

MarineLord says hi.
I've been following SC2 since early 2011. Stephano was the high water mark, since then no player aside from maybe Snute has been consistent enough to compete against top talent. qxc also all killed IM in 2011 in the GSTL, but it's frustrating when these performances cannot be sustained.
Blizzard splitting up the foreigners and the Koreans in WCS today means that there are fewer opportunities for non-foreigners to practice against top talent, and there's less willingness today to send foreigners over to Korea than there had been in the past.
If I'm wrong and Snute or Mana win this, please let me know and hold me accountable, but I don't think that'll happen.

New Zerg version of Science Vessel, same effect as Terran had in BW. Glad to see we finally have a nice answer vs mass air. In HOTS and original P and T late-game-air was totally unbeatable. So frustrating when u played a 1h game vs turtling terran and in the end have no answer to their air... Love LOTV!

Yes, that was awesome ... Ryung is a great player, and so is Snute ... I still feel sad for Snute that because of the current WCS system, he cannot beat the Koreans regularly on international tournaments. His victories are real skill and not some random coin flips.
I'll be completely honest here by saying upfront I didn't feel like skimming through the 28 pages of this thread to find the answer before posting. Perhaps a good soul would tell me if the replays from the tournament will be available ? That MaNa vs Snute build on dusk towers was very interesting.
I left my computer as I saw Snute's Muta transition. I mean Mana should've been dead there, yet when I come back I see a fleet of Pheonixes killing Queens and Corrupters and Snute GG's. Mana, you so good lately!

I don't think the Global Finals will be this bad of a beatdown because - no offense - there are better non-Koreans than MaNa.

...no, I thought from the start that "the korean side of sc2" would have easy way at blizzcon but seeing MaNa lose like this is draining away any little hope my body had kept in remote secret places for unexpected-you-never-know event... MaNa is playing really well lately but he is getting demolished by Rogue so hard... ...probably the fact that kr vs. foreigners tournaments are no more stresses this gap to make it look bigger than it really is and/or maybe MaNa has just a bad day but this series is quite unispiring-for-what-will-come...
The good thing on RO16 at BlizzCon is that there will not be 8 Manas and Lilbows. Remember Polt and Hydra will certainly play good games, Polt should be able even to come to the actual BlizzCon ... and Snute is always able to surprize everyone. But 5 Manas and Lilbows will be certainly worth laughing.
I don't care whether foreigners will have a chance or not, I just hope that until then Blizzard will introduce new, better, balanced maps and improve the balance of the game, so that Ro8 doesn't end up being all ZvZs.

Perhaps not (although Nerchio could probably win straight up games against at least Dark offline under good conditions). But that's not really the point. MaNa is getting completely destroyed in the games, beyond just the score. I expect other players to put up better fights, even if they still lose every game.
