I'm writing this just for a little therapy here.
Two days ago, my mother in law committed suicide. She was struggling with depression, opiate addiction, fibromyalgia, and trauma. This has been ongoing for long before I even met my wife. She strangled herself with the cord of a curling iron in her bathroom.
This has been very hard for my wife and her sister.
I was actually planning a blog composed of all the positive things that have happened since we bought our first house. Instead we're picking up the pieces of our family.
It gets bitttersweet. My sister in law revealed today that she is pregnant. One generation just ended and another is about to begin. She's devastated that her mom never knew and never will. That child is now constantly tied to this memory her mother will hold. I look at it more positively... I think she'll come around with time.
My wife is a wonderful woman and slaved over helping her mother. She is strong, she is making the tough phone calls to estranged family members and friends. Her best friend is flying in from California tomorrow and will be with us for a few days. My work has given me some bereavement pay and my wife's boss donated some of hers as well.
There's not much to say... I just hate seeing my wife in pain.

The only thing on this planet that has brought me to tears since I was a child has been my wife's tears. Her friends are over taking care of her right now. Tonight I'm going to see my brother in law who is not doing well at all. Tomorrow we clean out the mother's apartment. Saturday is the celebration of life.
Oh the things I want to say.

I don't really know what to say, but I wish you and your wife the best. I'll also never admit I said this, but you're a pretty great person for the way you seem to be handling this.

Condolences dude, I don't exactly know what to tell you on this one. If something that honestly there isn't much of an answer for. Nothing makes this situation any better.

Man, tough times. Hang in there, be strong for the wife you obviously adore. Your behavior is an example of every husband and hope for every wife.
