Hey all,
I'm trying to make a trip to Shanghai this June from Taiwan. Are there any special things I need to apply for? I'm hoping no, because all of my documents for entering Taiwan say ROC (Republic of China) and not specifically Taiwan.
I know for the flight, I will need to go through an intermediary stop like Hong Kong, but hopefully that will be the extent of my troubles.
Thanks for any information.

Eh from my experiences they throw you around at Customs a bit if they know you're Taiwanese,
but I don't remember having to apply for anything special.

The thing is, I am Asian, but I shouldn't be classified as Taiwanese (although I am going to school in Taiwan, yes)

My friend is from USA, and he went to China several times with no problems. Just as you said - through HongKong. But if you're Taiwanese, i heard, they ask you if Taiwan is a country or not - you have to answer correctly

hahahahahha, normally for US citizens, you have to apply to the local Chinese embassy or consulate at where you are but Taiwan ... you will be transisting in hong kong i suppose? don't remember any direct flights yet so yeah sort it out while you are in hong kong.
