One part of the failure seems to be the typical EA corner cutting like using the same engine for everything or not really caring about delivering a product that doesnt have stupid flaws like not working melee combat. Typical EA stuff, the just dont give a damn. But the other part is Biowares failure to deliver a really good story gameplay in all levels of the game. Or maybe they really didnt want to do it and wanted it to be more like those Ubi games. Anyways, Bioware RPG doesnt seem to mean much these days. There arent many RPGs like this, so its still worth buying if you are into those, but maybe wait for a sale or maybe EA even fixes some of the really annoying things. Your review seems to echo what I've read here and there (+ my dislike for what Bioware usually writes these days). So I'll just wait to find it cheap. If I don't forget about it.

I bought it for 36e on the first week it launched in eu, using a cd key site (cdkeys.com). Yea, a bit iffy to trust one of those, but seemed to be okay for me. Payment through paypal so I guess it was semi safe as well. Got my key instantly, so no complaints from me there. all the glitchy combat shit and horrible camera / control issues aside, I've been absolutely enjoying this game, would be a silly liar if I didn't, having put 60 hours into it already. I found out that equipping your dps characters with weapons masterworked to give Guard on hit is bloody amazing...

Don't you have enough of that in MMOs?! Why support singleplay games with similar content instead of demanding better.

I just wish I could find a good one-handed weapon. The one I'm using I found when i was lvl 3. Now I'm lvl 9, what on Earth... The quests itself were good, or even great, but the whole gameplay was painfully repetitive. I'm pretty sure if you only want to focus on the main quest in DAI, you can get away with fairly little grinding. Don't collect shards, don't collect wines, don't hunt for astro items, just do some sidequests for power (most of them are fairly short), close rifts and go on to the main missions. I'm not sure if DAI will match or at least get close to the quality of DAO's main- and important side-quests, because in my 20 hours+gameplay I barely moved with the story, but the way they gave us a chance to free roam for exp and items is great. I hated DAO in this regard, because I felt so alone. The forests, the deep roads... they were haunting and not fun to grind at, or try to solve some minor sidequests. The best thing in DAI about the little quests is that the map helps me a lot. I'm sure many people liked the mysterious sidequests most of us could never solve or to be more precise, did not even bother to invest time and energy in trying to do it, but I'm liking this new system a lot more. I'm in control of what I want to do. I've already been at a snowy field, huge green area, rainforest, desert, and a beautiful, stormy beach. The scenery is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Sometimes I feel like I'm just marveling these places while going to one little sidequest to another. Yeah-yeah, someone lost her ring, but look at the river clashing with the shore! Also, I like the random shit that happens. Like I'm wandering in the hinterlands and out of nowhere a fucking dragon. I'm on my way to collect some shards and in the distant I see an ogre fighting with another dragon. I want to finish the last astrarium on the area and I stumble across a farm where I'm taught how to ride a horse. Oh, and don't forget the crafting system! After the first couple of hours i stopped collecting things, saying "it's pointless", then I saw how the crafting works. Oh man, since then I'm on my way to be a professional miner! Too bad I still don't have a single-handed weapon schematic and I don't know where to look for one, but hey... dragons! Also, don't forget how much the combat evolved, or to not piss off anyone, let's just say became more fun since DAO. The best thing after some quality side-quests in DA2 was definitely the combat. Rogue was sick as hell in DA2, but crushing mages faces in with my shield slam to interrupt their cast and watch them fly away miles is fun as well. Thanks to this it doesn't feel like grinding, even though it is. I just hope we get some improvement in companion dialogues after more main quests, and that we will have meaningful choices. I don't want to point fingers (*cough* DA2 *cough*) but there's hardly anything more infuriating when you complete your second playthrough with the opposite choices you made during the first one just to realize it mattered NOTHING at all. I'm not sure if I should get my hopes up for meaningful choices like in DA:O (the very bestestestestest), but at least give me some choices where 1. I actually have to think, because it's not black and white 2. it will have a different outcome based on my choice. And I hope the biggest firework in the story is not what Bioware has said a thousand times, that our party members can leave us if they feel we are not fighting for the same goals. edit: oh, and don't forget the damned codex entries... they are back with full force!

What you also can do is import a world state from your DA:I savegames, which are listed there automatically and then load the world state into editor and check if it really is your planned world state.

Also, one thing Joe just made me remember, but I actually consider it a highlight: the singing! I'm walking into a tavern and a beautiful lady voice mesmerizing me, while I'm just goofing around. Gives me the chills, and reminds me of leliana in DAO. Oh, but one thing that made me kinda mad. When I asked Leliana if she had any stories, she brushed me off!!! Half of my DAO playthrough was spent on listening to her stories (rought estimation though), and now she gives me nothing? My dear!

Leaving shield block on for the AI to control seems to work just fine, the AI is quick to react to incoming hits, so that lessens the microing of a tank considerably. whoa nicely done. the more i mess with customization, the more retarded my character looked so i kept it close to default XD i seemed to have missed my timing to recruit vivienne, i dont see her and the quest "imperial enchanter" is not in my journal anymore, i remember seeing it but its gone now.
