Time to watch old Gundam series if you haven't

+ Show Spoiler [C3 bu 3] +Sure, they were pretty hard on Yura at the end, but I think it was deserved. Surrendering like that just shows that she doesn't give a shit about all the hard work and effort that everyone put into that tournament (and I'm sure it wasn't free). Looks like she learned her lesson though. I hope she doesn't keep her hair short like that

I've watched most of the Gundam and Macross series, and as it turns out I'm not a huge fan of the super robot genre ):
It seems like the only big "real robot" option I have is... VOTOMS?
|
VOTOMS is very good, Patlabor is another obvious one
|
has anyone watch the new GITS:Arise?
wanted to discuss what GITS fans thought of this.

Oh well I guess technically Gundam Unicorn is still in progress... Yamato 2199 technically isn't Mecha, but is close enough, and still in progress. But yeh, otherthan MJP, us mecha fans are having a light season of actual mecha stuff.
@Maxie: Votoms and Patlabor are both very good, but what Super Robot anime have you seen/not liked? There aee some very good super robot stuff out there..

Hajime no Ippo Season 3 airing this Fall... Fuck yes!

Getter robo, TTGL, for example. It's not that I disliked them, just that I seem to prefer real robot. Gunbuster/Diebuster were great though. Maybe I'll give G gundam a chance, for funny gundam designs if nothing else (windmills etc).

Anyway, seeing how much you like Symphogear, which is fundamentally the same as a super robot anime, I can't imagine you having something against the genre. You should try out Shin Mazinger (skip episode 1, trust me) or Giant Robo, for some of the best directed anime ever made.

Armageddon. It was fine but you're probably not supposed to start with it, or it didn't feel like that, anyway...
I'll check those out, thanks.

Yeah, technically Armageddon isn't a sequel to anything, but it does expect you to know who the characters and such are.
But yeah, both Shin Mazinger and Giant Robo are great. Imagawa's masterpieces imo.

Do we know how many episodes it'll be?

Try Votoms Finder, that one is pretty good too.
Anyways, time to watch GATCHAMAAAAAAN~!

Gundam characters are really stupid when it comes to interacting with the enemy. Stardust main character finds out guy who saved him is his enemy. Fixes the guy's mobile armor anyways even after hearing he plans using the mobile armor to attack his ship. Bromance over people's lives. Now I'm watching Gundam Wing. Mysterious boy says he wants to kill girl. Girl follows mysterious boy and confronts him and event tries to stop his attack on the military and shockingly he tries to kill her. What is this? This isn't even the romeo and juliet interaction of 08th ms team or family relationship of other series either.

All 3 are super good though, and I am not even that big of a fan of mecha. I'm sure you'll enjoy both, Maxie.

Well, Gundam Wing and 0083 aren't exactly good examples of shows with rational protagonists lol
