Which aegis skills are actually worth putting points in? im really afraid of dumping points into something that will be useless later.
Does this sound like a build that would be useful/useless? What stats should I pump with this build? Shield bash is amazing. With a strong shield it does a lot of damage, has stun chance, and lowers attack speed at a really nice mana efficiency. I'd probably make sure to get rid of flame hammer, since you're going to want your charges for other skills. Stats you'll want plenty of vitality, obviously, and strength at a close second. Around a 2:2:1 ratio should be fine. Thanks man!

This game is really fun. I've never played a diablo-esque game before so this is new to me, and AMAZINGLY entertaining.
Can you change the difficulty once you've started a playthrough? It's a tad bit too easy on normal.

Reroll on Veteran.

Yes, start a multiplayer game and you have the option to change the difficulty.

Prismatic Bolt, Healbot, Blast Cannon and the Berserker's short-charge-that-heals-and-shatters-shields I think are just too strong. I have nothing against feeling overpowered but these go too far, are too mandatory for any build. (Except maybe Blast Cannon because it's so specific but it's still dominating.)

Nothing is mandatory in a single player game. If they inhibit your fun don't use them ^_^

I eat mana pots like a fat kid eats candy in this game.

How many fame level are there (or how many bonus skillpoints)?
|
|
I dont think they can, it says on the description of fumble specifically "basic attacks" or something like that. And i can't remember seeing a skill fumble, either.
|
I have never had a spell fumble so im just gonna say they cant.

Been running my Engi for like 10-15 lvls on this sword and board, going to be sad seeing them go. Love this game, tho its eating up all my time! but the loot is so good!
Also, is anyone else having trouble with steam? i can play games, but cant check achievements or even see anything on the main page, its just writing/links, no pictures or anything.

Been messing around with the console a bit, testing things out for my cannoneer.
- Spells can sort of fumble; it only ever happens if your damage/level is too low.
- HP/Mana/-Armor on hit do not work with most spells (Blast Cannon, Flame Hammer), but works with other spells on a case-by-case basis (Mage's Magma Mace only one I've found).
- -Armor does affect Physical Skills (Tested Flame Hammer, Blast Cannon).
- If a weapon has Physical/Magical damage, both Focus and Strength increase its damage. Strength increases it's damage much more than Focus (even if the weapon has a higher amount of magic damage, like this one).
- If a weapon has only Magical damage, both Focus and Strength increase its damage, at a similar rate.
- Spells that only say something like "XX Physical Damage" or "Inflicts XX% of your Weapon DPS", with no mention of an element, are not affected by Focus at all.
- %Attack Speed increases damage of scaling spells (Inflicts XX% of your Weapon DPS as X), because attack speed bumps up your DPS. %Cast Speed increases spell speed.
- Strength is much much much better than Dex at increasing damage across the spectrum (source).
The implications for a Cannoneer that mainly uses Blast Cannon is that on-hit affixs are useless; Attack Spd/Cast Speed are ways to improve DPS. Focus is not needed at all, as summons+Cannon will do all damage. If tanky enough, you won't need the dodge from Dex, and since Fumble is nonexistant, can safely pump STR all the way.
The fact that there is a lot of hidden information in Torchlight 2 is both intriguing and infuriating at times; I was worried that since a lot of high level weapons have elemental damage, that my engy would be gimped with 0 focus, but luckily system is well designed

That's some good info there gj dude
And ya there is barely any reason to make Dex in TL2 to boost your damage, dex is more useful for people going for 75% dodge cap, some higher crit chance (you need high atk speed for this) and capable for equipping high dex requirement weapon. This whole thing somehow made outlander in a weird spot (read here if you are interested).
My outlander stats are 200+ for str/dex and 100+ for focus/vit but before adding stats boost gears, they are something like 80 str, 120 dex, 60 focus, 50vit so i actually have some room to come back as a high focus glaivelander (currently at lvl63 and have 30+ stats points unspent). I really don't like the idea of getting high tier weapon is irrelevant to my glaivelander, i want to see shiny high dps weapon works well with me but glaivelander only needs +% poison damage weapon.

Most of the beserker skills work with on hit effects. It's funny when you get 5k armor while you use Ravege because of shred armor, and you become invulnerable in such a situation while you wind up because of battlerage. Of course, it only makes you immune to physical damage (at least the armor stacking) so you still have to not stand in the fire sadly.

anyone know why my brothers game crashes whenever he enters a dungeon? he had to stop playing with me because of it.
we sorted out the lag issue by having him and his cable internet connection run first into an area and spawn the mobs, making him upload to me.
But now we are in the temple swamp map and he crashes when entering any dungeon, overland maps are fine oO. Even if i enter the map first with no problems, he still crashes. We have the exact same files, its really confusing.
We also completed a dungeons earlier with no problems.

Quick question. I just got this gem at like.. level 15 and I'm wondering if I should save it for later to slot into a money farming outfit or something since the $$$ I'm getting right now is probably insignificant in the long run. Also there's an orange gem which I got at like level 10 which increases my frost damage by 15%, since I'm a frost embermage should I also save this gem for later?
|
Why save gems for later? You can just slot them now and then reclaim them when you're done with the armor.
|
6% gf gem is actually is the highest i have seen lol iirc this gem can drop in any level, i got a 4% gf gem in some 60+lvl map. You can use it on some decent 'common' gear that you knew you will use it for some time but will defo get a better one later, defo keep the gem. For other gems just use them because you will get better gems later, much much better gem.
edit: you can get the gem back by destroying the gear or the other around, there is a twins in town can do that
