It's about something possibly more... AWESOME!
JAWS
As usual, my blog inspirations all spur from conversations in the lovely super-secret Teamspeak channel that I hang out in.

However, I wish to add more substance to this blog than to solely focus on one item. That would be too much free advertising and I'm not paid to do this anyway -_-.
Beating Summer - Korean Style!
That should have been the blog title. Growing up as a kid in Korea, I had my ways of surviving the hot summers. I was not born obese (thank you mom and dad), so I wasn't restricted from consuming large amounts of frozen ice cream bars.
1) Screw Bar
+ Show Spoiler +
I don't know if that's the correct translation, but it seems plausible. Anyhow, I had this thing for fruity stuff and I apparently had healthy gum so I could bite and crunch on frozen stuff no problem. This one though, was more for the suckers. Kids would suck on it until the edge became smooth and sharp, then bite into it bits at a time.
2) Melon Bar / Melona
+ Show Spoiler +
Both started as melon-flavoured, soft-frozen bars. Ugh, that's the best I could describe it. If you had bad gum/teeth, this is one thing you don't want to bite into. Recently it diversified in flavours. I don't like mango as a fruit, but the mango-flavoured Melona is amazing stuff.
3) BOONG UH SA MAN KO ... or translated as... Wrapped Carp?
+ Show Spoiler +
This is a classic. Both kids and parents love this one. The perfect ratio of vanilla ice cream and chilled red bean paste is wrapped inside a soft shell. It's not as much of a heat quencher as the previous two listed, but for the red bean lovers, this is almost as good as it gets.
4) "Flutter"
+ Show Spoiler +
This one is more recent, and it's my roommate's favourite. He apparently has the case of bad gum/teeth I was talking about earlier (can't take cold stuff directly to his gum), so he can't take the frozen hard stuff. It's essentially milkshake in a neat pack. Like its name suggests,

5) Red Bean Sundae (Pat Bing Soo) YEAH THIS IS THE FINAL BOSS
+ Show Spoiler +
I don't know the exact history, but I believe this is the true Korean way of beating summer. The red bean paste makes it appeal to people of all ages. There is crushed ice at the bottom, maybe a tiny bit of cold milk poured over it, red bean paste, assorted fruits and fruit jelly bits, sometimes cereal, and then ice cream on top, and then cherry on top. It is the deluxe dessert that's meant to be shared between lovely couples or just a bunch of single guys sweating like pigs but enjoying it nonetheless.
Cute girls take small spoonfuls, carefully scooping a bit of ice, red bean paste, and a choice of fruit. More aggressive girls may like to dig in deep for extra ice taste.
We, men, do this:

I know that red bean sundae is meant to be the final boss, but my favourite is the Jaws. I had a thing for this bar ever since my first try. Okay that's probably a bit of a myth, I don't know what was my first time eating ice cream bars (possibly two decades ago, o_O). The important thing is, until this very day, it remains my favourite ice cream bar.
Knowing that the morning inspiration would not leave me, I knew what to do. After work, I took a different route home - so that I could stop by to treat myself to the goods.

Of course, here's what I was really looking forward to:
+ Show Spoiler [JAWS] +
Needless to say, I devoured it viciously, chomping the hard blue shell away to reach the soft red sweet stuff. Then I twirled it in my tongue sensuously until its flavour completely engulfed my mouth. Okay basically, IT'S SO GOOD!
I recommend everyone to visit the nearest Korean grocery store and treat yourself to one of those above!
