I recently got into Astrology and just figured out how to do natal charts of people. And I wanted to apply this knowledge into things that i was interested in (mostly Starcraft and other strategy games). So, I looked up the astrological charts of the foremost strategists and generals to find if they all had something in common (from astrotheme.com). I discovered that they all had their Sun and Moons in Taurus or Scorpio or at the very least had a Taurus/Scorpio influence in their chart. Most importantly all of the well-known chess masters were all Tauruses and Scorpios. Tauruses and Scorpios are astrological opposites for those of you that don't know. Also, having your Sun in Virgo is equivalent to saying that you're a Virgo in layman's terms. From what I've gathered so far the Sun, Moon and Ascendant are three of the most important factors in a person's chart and they correspond to your Ego, Id and Superego respectively. The natal charts are available in the internet so you can check them up for yourself- if not you can use the birthdate into astro.com or astrotheme.com to get their natal charts. Go to cafeastrology.com if you wanna know more about astrology.

Note: I didnt look up all of the Starcraft players charts I'm too lazy for that so i just looked up the top 10-ish. I also don't have access to their birthtimes if i had those I'd be able show their Ascendants.
This all got me started when I read something about Scorpios and Tauruses being strategists from some astrology website. I know this all very shallow research but I just couldn't resist sharing it. So what do you think so far? Please no haters T_T If you don't believe in astrology and think it's all hogwash I respect your opinion so please try to respect mine. Suggestions to the list would be totally welcome.

I don't respect opinions I respect facts and data, and both of those would agree with me in saying: astrology is hogwash.

Because TossGirl was such a wonderful strategist.

what does it mean to have your Mars/Mercury in some symbol? I don't know how many symbols/planets there are but just by looking at your list, it seems the probability of someone NOT having his or her Sun, moon, Mars nor Mercury in either Scorpio/Taurus would be pretty low...
|
The TossGirl one made me laugh...
I bet you could list just as many people deemed intellectuals or strategists from all the other astrological signs besides Scorpio and Taurus. I think you may be a victim of confirmation bias.

Adolf Hitler was a terrible strategist...

Isn't this essentially the statistical equivalent of fishing? You can't choose sun for some, moon for others, etc.. simply because thay have taurus or scorpio as a result.
Plus it'd be nice to give your general insight into the reasoning behind the result. That way for the many of us that don't follow astrology, we can at least take some interest in your findings.

Also I just quickly checked Paul Morphy (an all time great), Viswanathan Anand (current world champ), Vladimir Kramnik (former champ), and Veselin Topalov (most recent challenger), and none of them had their suns or moons in scorpio or taurus.

Yeah, but he also created most of the wermachts strategies and codeveloped the other ones.

i never understood why we should respect religion or in this case astrology. Respect is something that you have to earn you can't just ask for it.
and yes i believe what you have written is not readworthy.

It's impossible for an educated, rational being to take astrology seriously...
We can find equal numbers of these occurances if we bothered, and even if a preponderance of a particular astrological sign was observed, it'd be an irrelevant coincidence.
|
Also, astrology is hogwash. You want to see connections so you make yourself see them. The location of floating rocks or burning balls of gas vast distances away from earth relative to one another at the particular time someone was born has absolutely no bearing on any part of their being whatsoever.

This thread sums up Astrology well, I think.

Paul Morphy had a ton of aspects to his Mercury. Sorry I forgot to add him.

Astrology makes me cry T_T
C'mon, really? You don't see all the flaws? You really need to look to the stars for some greater meaning in life because, what, you had a bad day and need a cosmic justification?
Come on...

Oh god, incoming rage and grief from TL.

I'll spare you the agony of having 20 pages of people telling you "astrology sucks!" and other such comments by closing this now. Much like your previous thread was closed.
Trust me, no genuine discussion is going to happen in this topic.
