You are delusional. EG is an American team and gets shit all the time for its slip ups. Incontrol got more insults in this thread than LaLush, stop playing the victim already its annoying. Mill just continues to show a generic attitude of "we don't really care that much" when it comes to professionalism and it looks really bad. Those are terrible reasons for not finishing a show match your team agreed to play in advance and knew exactly what time it would be.

My faith in Stephano anti-faith in SlayerS has failed me T_T. Foreigners losing to yet another B teamer. And this time by someone who I haven't even heard of. Guess I should be glad I had to work the late shift today.

I'd like to continue listing further arguments, but probably best if I just cut this short. Of course we should have showed up with a full team. And it was our honest intention to do so. However, we were barely a full team by this point as it were. Furthermore it was midnight, and then that unforseen thing happened. Wasn't intentional or meant to be disrespectful. Just something that happens sometimes, and something we weren't able to sort out since we're spread very thin at the moment.
You guys were playing a team that kicked a player from the team house, denied him from going to future tournaments and made him drop his Code S spot, all because he forfeited a match. How do you think your and your team's shananigans will be seen by them? I would guess less than pleased. I think they're more interested in their own priorities over what SlayerS opinion of their team is. These things happen, fnatic have done it regularly in team leagues. Obviously you want your full squad but sometimes it's just not possible. You should have played BW if you think this is bad. Nearly every team/clan struggled to get a team together for a clan war. Yea, let's bm the heavyweights of the SC2 scene, what a brillant business plan. Ruining a player's career for a lapse of judgment(Slayers) is bad, but this is just as awful. Very dissapointed. Look, there must have been a moment where the team had to confirm its presence to the fine IPL crew, and the answer certainly was "yes, we are going to play and we got enough members". RIGHT? If so, then why did this happen? 4 out of 7? Are you serious? Why not act like a pro, just giving other teams a chance instead of wasting everyone's time? What becomes of the hard work from the IPL staff? And the Slayers team? And the viewers? Did you catch the last moments of the cast, when CatsPajamas and HD were obviously baffled and trying hard to calm down the viewers, who were going apeshit in the chat? Is all that just worth nothing? Should we just shrug it off? Not even a official statement? All we get is a TL forum post by Lalush, listing every conceivable excuse there is? At least he apologiz... oh wait, there is not 1 instance of "sorry" in that post. I'm not saying you should be prosecuted or suffer anything like that, but if we all agree that what Slayers did to Coca was too extreme, I think we would also agree that what Millenium is showing us now is the opposite extreme. God why there can't be a middle road? I mean, between crucifying a player for lack profissionalism and not giving a shit to profissionalism has to be something right? How about being somewhat responsible, issuing official statements and apologies for fuckups? Accept criticisms and do something about your own player if he acts like a douche in a goddamn international tournament? Am I being too unreasonable here? How do you think your and your team's shananigans will be seen by them? I would guess less than pleased. There's a huge difference between leaving when you're winning and forfeiting a match because you don't enough players. I don't even think SlayerS cares. They won, they'll get their money and this isn't nearly as serious as something like gstl or proleague. Lemme recall what happened last week... oh yea, now I remember. aTn was lacking a player but since they somewhat care about the viewers and stuff, they called Goody to step in. About Slayers not caring about profissionalism in e-sports, be it on small or large events: this past week tells me they somewhat do.
I think the reason you seems a bit upset by this is the apparent lack of respect that Mill had for the viewers and Slayers time.
To me it all comes down to priorities. To the Mill players school takes precedence over Starcraft, which is respectable, and something their sponsors seems to support. Even college athlete's are held responsible for their grades and have to maintain a certain level GPA in order to play.
As for IPL, you could fault them for not being strict enough on Mill and enforcing a strict schedule for the games, but if that were to happen some of the smaller teams that we have gotten to see play (Acer is the only "smaller" team that comes to mind off the top of the head) would make it harder for them to attend, making it harder to see the variety of teams and player we currently enjoy now.
It seems to me like an unfortunate series of events. Nothing more, nothing less.

Minions to the rescue. -_-
Unfortunate turn of events tonight. I really love both teams so I'm trying to suspend judgement but it definitely seems like it could have been handled better by Mill.
Ah well. IPL is amazing, thanks for putting on these wonderful events.

Hard week for slayers, had to use two b teamers :/
I start to think the only way to eliminate slayers would be to invite an other korean team.

Where I lived tolerance is taught as a virtue. Millenium cares about its fanbase which is mostly french. You have been fed like so many others so many press release that you think it's the ONLY way to deal with a situation. Some people are educated enough to solve issues privately. Nobody was hurt or insulted here and if you think the contrary, you are delusional. As for the obligation to play that's non-existant. When your team isn't able to make it, you forfeit. They didn't beg for a rematch or a postpone. They forfeited. Otherwise professionalism in eSports is a dream not a reality, stop trying to sell the bear's hide before killing it.
PS : And no EG don't get the 'I guess they couldn't do anything that forfeit since they are french' kind of insult.

What? It's not a matter of priorities. No one forced Mill to sign up for this league. If their priority wasn't to play a full match against Slayers then they shouldn't have agreed to. Plus this isn't some kind of recreational league. When you're a pro gamer, or a pro team, the matches and tournaments that you're registered to attend are professional obligations.
Mill definitely owes an apology to Slayers and IPL. Another team was short a player and they found someone--you're telling me that Mill couldn't come up with that solution?
imo Mill just does not have good management.
And no EG don't get the 'I guess they couldn't do anything that forfeit since they are french' kind of insult.
Wow dude, maybe because they aren't French and didn't forfeit anything?

can't believe stephano went out so early!

I don't buy the school excuse. Being tired at school one friday is not a big deal. Your never going to convice me these players have never pulled an allnighter before.

Wait, so what do you guys propose millenium should have done? For all we know they entered with the fullest intention of playing a full series, but players had prior responsibilities that got in the way. If my boss called me in at midnight to tell me that in two hours I might be required to play a game when I had school the next morning I'd say that, and I'd be quite frankly more pissed off than you guys if he wasn't happy with me.
LaLush said that they tried to schedule a better time but couldn't come up with anything. So what would you do if you were in Millenium? Forfeit the entire match and drop out of the league, forfeit the game, or forfeit the game and then post a reasonable, if not completely satisfying explanation within an hour of the incident
An hour! And some of you guys are still complaining about the response? It takes days for most people to issue statements when they're clearly in the wrong.
This was always going to be difficult to organise with the timezones involved. That they still fielded four players is much better than nothing at all, surely?
|
Wow, big deal guys, it's not like they were gonna get a 3-kill. There's plenty of games to watch out there, if missing out on one ruined your day so badly you need to find new meaning in your life.
And INControl trolls need to be banned or something, he does so much for Starcraft and you're spitting in his face. You're essentially the guy who comes uninvited to dinner and bitches about the food, or tags along in a group uninvited and complains they aren't doing what he wants.

wow cant believe it goes that far. again people are talking without knowing all the reasons why if had been forfeited.
