Worst game ever. Fuck that shit. Fuck Square Enix. Final Fantasy is dead.
Why?
FFXIII is the best because Vanille is awesome (I played all FFs except 2, 3, and 14 too). That is all.
No seriously why with these comments that the whole FF series died just because you didn't like one game (maybe two if you disliked 12)? I see this all the time.
Also if people want, here's Final Fantasy Type-0:
Notice that the game features a world map (plus epic music starts at 9:45)
It came out today in Japan.
Finally if anyone has any FFXIII related story questions, ask me I have read everything about the game that is on the wikia and therefore know much.
I've been playing the FF series since the first one on the NES, I remember having a guide from nintendo power and my brother and I would take turns grinding out levels before entering a dungeon lol.
My favourite would have to be FF VI, so many amazing characters and an awesome story and finding those uber items like atma weapon or ragnarok gave me chills. The game was way ahead of its time.
I've never played FF XIV so I'd have to say FF XIII is my least favourite game. It's the only one I've never bothered to finish.
Been playing Final Fantasy Legend II on my jailbroken iPod. The GB FF's are pure nostalgia... I would steal I/II/Adventure from my older cousins, until Sunsoft re-released them. I bought all 4, plus a green gameboy pocket, with my birthday money + several weeks of allowance. ~those were the days~
So mad that they remade Legend II and III for the DS but didn't bother to release them outside of Japan. It's up there with the Mother 3 injustice. These japanese game companies just don't want my money I guess.
I'm not so much a FF fan as I am a VI / Legend / Adventure fan. Those were the ones I had growing up, and my later attempts at I, II, IV, V, VII, Tactics just never measured up. Sometimes I wonder if I even like video games... maybe I just like nostalgia.
Really hate how all the FF's im interested in playing have been going to PSP.
Crisis Core Dissidia Tactics: war of the lions
And now Type-0. I don't want to give in and spend $100 on a psp just to play these games on such a small screen, but I'm getting real close to doing it. I don't understand why they don't port them to PS3 and allow us to play them there, it would be so easy and probably increase their sales by a crapload.
FF VI was indeed a classic. I think people sometimes forget this awesome game in their clouded overhyped view of FFVII.
I got quite happy when it got re-released on PSN. So people, if you have a PS3 or PSP and haven't played FFVI. Give it a try. And while you're at it... Play some FFIV as well.
I played every single FF other than XI and XIII, and I think FFIX is the best. It may not have an epic story or the best characters, but the gameplay was balanced to perfection. There were no useless characters or skills and you can't be crazy overpowered even if you max all your stats.
As for why FF is slowly dying, I think it's because SquareEnix has way too much money. They're philosophy is to throw lots of money in development while neglecting intelligent game design and good story telling. The reason why the early FFs (pre VII) were so revered is that Square put everything on the line when making these games. They were going to go bankrupt if the games failed to be a success.

I think a lot of it has to do that most people have never even played FFVI and VII was their first FF game. VI really is leaps better than VII.

urggg, yeah i have to agree, FFVII was a GREAT game but it was overrated. I'm sick of people saying it is a perfect game and when i tell them to justify it they just said "cloud looks cool, tifa is hot, epic storyline, perfect". FFS, i'm going to write an analysis on all Final Fantasy (except 11 and 14) for my 1000th post.
Hey, I figured that this is the best thread to ask this, but if you had to buy a hardcore FF fan a birthday/christmas present, what would it be? I'm thinking some sort of collectible or something? any ideas would be helpful. thanks.

Well currently, i can only think of any collectible items from the newest FF, FF-type0. Check the limited edition OST (it's japanese)
Or anything collectible from upcoming FFXIII-2, such as the preorder Crystal Edition that is only available in Europe.
I, myself, don't buy these stuff (i'm a hardcore fan) but it would be very nice if someone else buy it for me :D
