If you think your event might qualify for a featured spot on TL’s calendar of events, you’ve landed in the right thread (well done). In here, I’ll outline some rules and requirements for getting your event listed, as well as provide some answers to a few frequently asked questions. I’m sure you’re a very busy person, so let’s dive right in.
What are the requirements for getting my event on the calendar?
Simply put, there are no absolute requirements, but as a general guideline: 1) The event should have a prize to be won in competition. For tournaments, the cash prize must be at least $100 (or equivalent in other currency). For show matches, the prize must be at least $50 or equivalent.
2) The event should have streamers scheduled to broadcast. There must be some form of stream embedded on TL. This means either your main stream or one of your casters must be an embedded stream here on teamliquid.net through one of the various streaming services - see below for more information on getting your stream on TL.
3) You must associate your stream with the event on TL. This means when the event is live, you or your streamers mark their TL stream as being associated with the event so the stream appears directly below it. Events that run without associated streams are subject to removal and future calendar requests may be denied.
4) We're looking for high-level, high quality events. In almost all cases, featured tournaments and show matches will be restricted to high-level players. Exceptions to this will be very infrequent.
Obviously, some events won’t have a prize (like a charity event) and some will be featured if a TL staff member finds them relevant despite not meeting the above requirements, but these decisions are done on a case-by-case basis after evaluating the merits of the event. Please don't be offended if your tournament doesn't merit an exception, as exceptions will be rather infrequent.
Awesome! I meet the requirements. What do I do now?
Now you should submit details of your event using our shiny new submit form. Here's a brief description of what you should submit:
Name: Name of the tournament / event (not your name). Short Name: The name that appears on the sidebar for the event (keep it short!) Date and Time: Date and time of the tournament in the correct time zone. Make sure you double-check the times you send as I can't double check them for you. Note that the time is in 24 hour format, don't get confused and enter 07:30 for 7:30pm. TL Thread: Link to your thread on TL about the tournament. If you want it listed on our calendar, it should really already have a thread here for discussion. Most of the information about the tournament should be kept here. Short Description: Include basic details such as notable players participating, format, stream links, etc. Don't include too much here, be brief. Keep the bulk of the info in your thread. If you don’t have someone streaming your event yet, go and get someone because you need it before you’ll get added.
That seems like a lot of work, can’t I just link you to the site or thread and you can add it?
No. Scrounging for information from people has become too much of a chore. This is your event, and while I have no problem facilitating you and helping you get your stuff on TL, I don’t have the time to go to your website, convert all your times, find your thread on TL, discover who your streamer is, etc. If you submit a link to some website that’s in a language I can’t read, I’m going to keep sending you back here. If you persist, you’ll get ignored. I’m not trying to be a jerk here, but it’s far easier for you to aggregate this info than for me to do it.
I run a weekly/biweekly/monthly event. Can I schedule it every week?
No. If you want events added every week, you will have to submit the event every week. This is to ensure that events are actually running and not blindly added each time. I will add events up to 2 weeks in advance, so don’t submit broadcasts for the next three months.
When should I PM you?
Never! Use the submission form linked above. (unless you need help, then PM me)
How do I get my stream on TL or associated with the event?
You will need to have a stream account setup at TL. See this thread for instructions on applying for a stream listing. Once your event is live, use your stream control panel to mark your stream as covering the event.
You added tournament X, why won’t you add my tournament? It’s better than that one for Z reasons
Each tournament is considered on its own merit. Some events will be treated differently than others for a variety of reasons. This is not an issue of discrimination or fairness, it’s one of practicality. Any issues you have with a tournament being denied can me asked of me in a PM. If you persist in asking stupid questions, I will become vexed and let you know it.
If my tournament doesn’t meet the requirements and has no redeeming features, can I bribe you to get it listed?
Oh, absolutely. Please send your generous offers to me via PM and I’ll gladly shill away my dignity and self-respect for practically no money.
I have a question that wasn’t answered here, what should I do?
You can PM it to me or post it in here, and I’ll try to answer it as best I can.
Please use this system to add OSL, MSL, PL, and other professional Brood War events that you see missing from the calendar. Sometimes they slip by TL staff.

Thanks!
Thanks Chill, always stinker when you miss a match because you were asleep when the event got posted. :p
Now we just need a BW option in the dropdown (instead of / in addition to the "OGN", "MBC", "Proleague", "Community Event") so we can find them between the hundreds of meaningless sc2 events going on every week (or just a seperate bw calendar). There were a few threads on it in Website Feedback but they were all seemingly ignored :x
If grouping calendar/user streams by game isn't possible, could the text [BW] be added to all broodwar calendar events? I ignore every non-SPL/OSL/MSL/STXcup event without exception.

R1CH is busy. It wasn't ignored.
Does that mean we may have this feature in the future or we'll probably never see it implemented because RICH is too busy? I dont know what to make of your answer. Anyway, make the community able to add/edit BW events is a very good thing!

It means I don't know. R1CH has a lot to do and this isn't a priority.
I would like to express my support for this motion. Thanks for looking out for us Chill and for the update on the calendar thingy. It is good to know that those grievances (the other that comes to mind is the ability to personalise default TPLD I'd assume) were noted by the staff.

I just found a burried thread about R1CH remaking the calendar. I would guess it's a couple weeks away before he perfects it, but it should make things a little bit easier. We realize that filtering the calendar is a big priority for a lot of people.
