Assuming in a universe where all 4 games came out on the same day, same time, same second. Which one you would be interested to play first TeamLiquid? :D
Poll: Which game would you want to play FIRSTDiablo 3 (69) 47% HoTS (60) 41% DotA 2 (18) 12% Blizzard DotA (0) 0% 147 total votes Your vote: Which game would you want to play FIRST (Vote): Diablo 3 (Vote): DotA 2 (Vote): HoTS (Vote): Blizzard DotA
My take on it: obviously since this is a starcraft forum and blizzard related, an expected result would be HoTS > D3 > DotA2 > Blizzard DotA. But lets think about it:
1/ HoTS is just another version of starcraft 2 where the engine is not new and the only exciting stuff are campaign and new multiplayer units. It takes a lot of time (10 hours for campaign and months for new units) to actually "fully" enjoy the game so i would choose to test it last out of 4 games.
2/ MOBA type take very small amount of time (30-45 mins per game) to test out everything. Between DotA2 and blizzard dota, clearly dota2 has an overall balance stance carried over since dota/war3 which is very important for comp gaming. Dota 2 obviously top out blizzard dota on my order of testing list.
3/ Diablo 3: i have to admit, i has never really been into diablo games that much. Most due to my late access to computer and the out dated graphic of the game itself, i have never want to test the game out but in my head diablo 3 is some what of a WoW version of Magika with a bunch of items, class and money involve. I doubt that i would even end up buying the game since sc2 already cost a tons of time just to practice on high level keeping up with the meta game. Also with no LAN support and not free to play.... hmmmmmmm.
4/ Last but not least, physical condition: well blizzard dota is just a custom map on starcraft2 battle net which mean it could be downloaded in a matter of seconds while every other games are based on new engines which cost hours of download stuff. If this is true, blizzard dota will be the #1 on my try out list.
summing up: blizzard dota-> dota2 -> d3 -> hots

HotS. I don't play any DotA or really any other computer game than StarCraft 2. I do play a lot of board games though...=)
|
Wheres your None option. Thats my pick
|
Personally, I find DotA-type games exceedingly boring. Diablo 3 vs HotS is a tough choice though.
|
HotS I havent played Diablo yet, sadly Haven't played DotA either
|
Hmm... wouldnt play any of the listed normally.. but i pick diablo. =S
|
Diablo 3. I gonna play that for a month nonstop.
|
Isnt Dota that game where a match takes all day to win ?
|
Diablo 3. I'm not really hyped for HOTS...
|
Mass Effect 3.
Then I'll play Dota 2 and HOTS once FemShep is done punching reporters for their disingenuous assertions. Not a fan of "real"-RPGs so skipping D3.

Depending on the teams it usually takes between 30minutes (rather quick) and 80 minutes (long). Mainly around 40-50 minutes, where you level your hero up from level1 till 25.
At the guy who claimed Diablo3 is for him something like WoW.. ugh. Action RPG vs MMORPG.. rly?

I tied diablo 3 and HotS up at 31. Muahahahahahaha!!!!!

DotA can be as quick as 20 mins if the team balance is way off. The most balanced games usually end around 60 minutes into them. It can play for longer times than that though, just as there are SC2 1v1 games of 5h +.
Most DotA ladders allow some form of forfeit and in public games people tend to leave when things get too bad. This means that 30 mins is the average game length.
Voted DotA 2 since I have no plans of playing either of the other games.

Why do you even put Blizzard DotA up there I'm probably gonna play HotS as quickly as possible first just to get it out of the way. Then, I will play a f ton of diablo 3 with a flare of Dota 2 here and there.
|
Diablo 3 for sure. Dota 2? Will buy it, but dunno how much i will be playing. Most likely won't be playing that much SC2 HoTS.
|
If Blizzard doesn't step their game up with SC2 HoTS (or sooner), a lot of people will probably switch over to DotA 2 and D3. It's already been announced that DotA 2 will have everything that SC2 was supposed to have (Reconnect support, Multi-regional play, Proxy servers in between regions for lag reduction, Replays browsing with friends, Full spectator support, including on-the-fly join-in, Load balancers so spectators lagging doesn't affect game at all). :O Plus it's rumored that DotA 2 will be FTP.

I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard Dota silently fades away after never being released. It seemed like a publicity stunt to compete with Hon/Lol/Dota2/BLC but not much ever came of it.
For me it'd be Dota2>Heart of the Swarm>Diablo 3. I was hesitantly optimistic for Diablo 3 but recent announcements have put me off (no mods, internet access for play, don't really care about the RMT though). Heart of the Swarm should fix some stuff and give other races more of an even footing with Terran but Dota2 will be amazing. Currently play Hon but every comp I've tried seems to have issues with the client resulting in lag spikes.
