Jaedong: "I will show everyone that there's no slump with a victory in this tournament." My winner's spirit is the driving force behind my victory!
-How do you feel about advancing to your second finals in a row? ▲There were many spectators in the audience for today's series, so my will to win was that much stronger. Although I lost in the Proleague Grand Finals, I wanted to show everyone that my skills are a level above [ fantasy's abilities]. I practiced like never before for this series and since I won, my heart is bursting with joy. Now, I can look towards the Golden Mouse.
-It seems that you didn't have enough time to practice. ▲I couldn't prepare that much. I was exhausted after the Proleague was finished (last Saturday) and since I enjoyed the small respite, I didn't have enough time to practice fully. Also, I had to play against Calm in the Avalon MSL yesterday so I couldn't practice for this series like I normally would. However, my strategies were able to compensate for my lack of preparation. As I watched the VODs of my victory at the Batoo OSL (in the finals against fantasy) yesterday, I cultivated my desire for victory. Because of our heart-wrenching loss at the proleague finals, I felt a desire for revenge, for my teammates as well as for myself. I want to thank the players that helped me prepare, as well as my manager and my coach.
-Your losses at the proleague finals must have shocked you. ▲It was really hard for me in the days following those series. The memory of my losses kept me up at night. But the small encouragements I received were able to inspire me and so I was able to regain my strength. Also, my fans left me many messages at the fan websites and thanks to those, I was able to rise again.
-Your loss in the round of 4 of the Avalon MSL must have been distressing as well. ▲After I lost yesterday to Calm, I felt that he must have prepared very thoroughly. Even in the first game, I won simply because he made a mistake, not because I played well. I definitely wanted to win, but since I wasn't really ready for those games, I wouldn't have been happy even if I won.
-In Game 3, you went for a 4pool zergling rush build. ▲I saw many messages that seem to dismiss me and say that I've fallen off and I wanted to use a cheese rush. Since fantasy defeated me using a cheese rush (in the ace match of the proleague grand finals on Neo Medusa), I decided to reciprocate with my own cheese rush. I had planned to do a 4pool in game 3 if I won one of the first two games of this series.
-What were you thinking when he blocked your zergling rush? ▲I thought I would kill his 2nd marine as well and win handily, but it was somehow able to reach the bunker. Therefore, I felt that I was at a disadvantage, but I thought that I had one timing attack (hanbang) left. As the terran finished his sim-city (building placements), I just went for the timing attack. I think it worked well.
-You will face YellOw[ArnC] in the finals. ▲He is an opponent that I have faced my times in the past and I think that he has always been a very good player. Although I didn't expect to be facing him in the finals, I will prepare as much as necessary for this zerg vs zerg finals and play a series that will show all the doubters (laughs). Since YellOw[ArnC] hyung knows that I have something to prove, I hope that he will prepare accordingly so that we can have some fun games (laughs). Although it is a zerg vs zerg finals, I hope that many fans will come and enjoy our games.
-It seems that you definitely want the Golden Mouse. ▲Right before today's games, I thought that even if I don't win it this season, I still have a chance to win it next time. However, since I'm in the finals already, I will practice as carefully and thoroughly as I did for my first finals. I will definitely win this tournament and capture the Golden Mouse.
-What drives your consistently good performance? ▲My winner's spirit is what drives my performance. Since I hate to lose, I can focus on practicing with the final victory in mind and this allows me to keep going. Since I was the champion last season, the expectations are that much greater and I will concentrate on winning this next series.
-It seems that many players have finally grasped an understanding of your play. ▲I can almost feel their team's analysis of my play in my opponents' strategies. However, this is just another motivation for me to elevate my play to the next level. As they work hard to beat me, I must work even harder to become an even better player. Although I feel pressured sometimes, this pressure is what is pushing me to become the best. Working hard to become a perpetually strong player is very important to me.
-It's been said that you really dislike being called the successor to the Bonjwas. ▲If I look at all of the Bonjwa sunbae gamers that came before me, they all have impressive career records and were all very popular. However, I don't think that I have reached the height of my career yet. Rather than getting caught up in the Bonjwa arguments, I will just play my hardest until my retirement. I believe that the concept of the Bonjwa is just talk from an earlier period and I will just maintain my abilities until I reach my last days as a gamer.
-You've looked very tired recently. ▲Truthfully, I have been very tired lately. I want to get the finals over with quickly and just rest a little. I will be able to relax completely when September finally comes along.
-Do you have any last words? ▲I really wanted to have the winner's interview. Since I advanced and am able to give this interview, I am very happy. Although yesterday's loss (to Calm in the semi-finals of the Avalon MSL) was a disappointment, it's a relief to advance in this tournament. I want to thank all the people who have been worried about me lately. As I raise the Golden Mouse, I will show everyone that there is no slump. After the Proleague Grand Finals, there was a lot of talk on community sites that thoughtlessly criticize our team. Even though I lost in the ace match on the second day, my teammates were the ones that made the opportunity for an ace match possible. Also, without my teammates, I wouldn't be the player that I am today. I hope that people will stop calling Hwaseung OZ a one man team. Everyone has been working hard, it's just that the results didn't show our effort and I hope that everyone will anticipate our next season. Finally, I want to thank those players who stayed to help me practice (rather than going on vacation): ggaemo, Killer, HiyA and Lomo. I would also like to thank the players on other teams that helped me practice.

very nice interview, although who does Jaedong think he's kidding about Hwaseung not being a one-man team..
As long as he doesn't make any arrogant remark like the "Week of Jaedong" (seems like there is a curse going on that you make an arrogant remark=lose next couple of games)

However, I don't think that I have reached the height of my career yet.

As I raise the Golden Mouse, I will show everyone that there is no slump. Damn it jaedong... don't be so cocky. Worry about getting the Golden Mouse first. -_-"

Go jaedong. Yellow winning this OSL would be so meh.
|
I don't know why, but Jaedong doesn't, in comparison to for instance Bisu, come off as arrogant when he exclaims ''I will definitely win this tournament and capture the Golden Mouse''.

Bisu's got his bad boy look while JD's more "cute". So looks mosts likely.

Great interview and pretty fast too. I'm never going to be a Jaedong fan (I'll be rooting for Yarnc) but the dude's a monster.
