Thezerg, "I'm extremely satisfied"
"I don't think I've ever received such personal advisement before"

You impressively beat the formidable Jangbi – what are your feelings on that?
- I’m extremely satisfied. Although the result is also very important, I also think the course of the game itself was very good. I feel confident that I can win future games as well.

After your transfer to SK Telecom, you haven’t properly displayed your skills yet.
- Although it’s a bit embarrassing to say this as a 4 year progamer, I felt so much pressure during broadcasted matches. Because of that, I wasn’t able to show my abilities. However, recently I feel that I have discovered a method for improvement.

What is this method of improvement you’ve found?
- My mindset has changed a lot. Also, recently when Coach MuMyung arrived I’m started receiving personal management. I don’t think I’ve ever received such personal advisement before (laughs). Before, I would practice by myself and the coaching staff would have to take care of all the players. However, recently with Coach MuMyung’s arrival, many factors are changing and improving. The coaching staff are also exerting a lot of effort.

With your transfer to SK Telecom, you often played against zerg and didn’t show good performances.
- Even if I didn’t play against zerg I would have lost. The mindset I had then was different from the one I have now. The team brought me in thinking I would be a savior (t/n: pun unintended) but for me, the news of the transfer was so sudden, and I was in an indolent state. In a moment of bewilderment I joined the team and as I played in matches my performances weren’t good at all. I wasn’t in a state where I could win.

What is your goal for the future?
- My goal is to have 20 wins for the regular season. How hard I work will affect whether I can attain this goal or not. I want to affirmatively change T1 zerg’s image.

Practice was probably difficult since you had to play with Bisu and Best.
- I didn’t practice with Bisu and Best but rather with the B-team players. Because of this I did feel that my practice lacked a bit. However, as I analyzed the replays I worked on figuring out what my problems were, and I believe that was what was most effective.

Last words you want to say?
- T1 zerg hwaiting.

Original Korean Interview:
+ Show Spoiler +

Fantasy, "Today's concept was 'Coach Oov's management'"
"I'm preparing as if I'm a novice"

In the 4th round, you’ve played in 3 and won all 3 matches.
- I didn’t want to break the win streak. If I were to lose in the midst of this, the fans would be disappointed so I think it’s important that I don’t lose in the future.

Your opponent was Frozean who has been in a huge slump.
- I believe a player who has been losing a lot is actually scarier and more dangerous. You never know when those players will explode. However when I played him today, it seemed that he has shrunk a lot mentally.

What was your concept for today’s match?
- Today’s concept was Coach iloveoov’s management. I wanted to use pure strength to dominate. It makes the opponent feel as if they’ve hit a wall. In the last match against Hwaseung, Canata hyung wanted to use it but today I used it. I wanted to use macro as a weapon.

Was there a moment where you were in danger?
- In broadcasted matches, I feel like it’s been a while since I’ve won so simply. As I played, I was very satisfied. In regards to my 11 o clock position wavering, I’d have to say it’s because my hands weren’t loosened up yet since it was a broadcasted match. But still, it wasn’t a big danger.

You’ve undergone a transformation into a dependable ace player.
- I believe the moment I think I’m an ace player I will fall. So I always hold the mindset that I have 0 wins as I face upcoming matches. With the novice mindset that if there’s nothing that has accumulated, then there’s nothing that can fall apart, I am preparing my games.

How long do you think SK Telecom’s winning streak will last?
- In last week’s interview, I stated that if this spirit continues, then we could win all the games 3:0 but today we won 3:1 (laughs). I think I shouldn’t talk recklessly. I don’t know how much we’ll practice in the future but in the 4th round I believe we can go 9-2.

Last words?
- Today in the 1st set we lost to a strategy we anticipated so the team’s atmosphere sank a bit. However, in the 2nd set Thezerg hyung won and the atmosphere improved and in the 4th set Best hyung completed the victory so I was thankful. We have a rivalry with Samsung Khan so I’m happy that we won, and next time I want to win 3:0.

Original Korean Interview:
+ Show Spoiler +

Best, "It's the first time I've been on a 5 game losing streak"
"Because I lost to zerg often, my confidence fell a lot"

You broke your 5 game losing streak and finally won.
- I finally grabbed a chance to play after a long time and since I won I’m extremely happy. Because my opponent was Stork hyung I’m even happier.

You’ve never been on a 5 game losing streak before.
- If I were to include teamplay, then I’ve been on a 6 game losing streak before but individually a 5 game losing streak is a first. Because I kept losing the losses just piled up. I even wondered to myself “have I weakened?”. I think I was just lacking confidence. In particular, because I lost to zerg so often, I think my confidence greatly fell.

Although you were in a slump, the team is winning consistently.
- Although I have been in a slump, it’s a relief that the team has consistently been on the rise. I think it’s because of that I was able to get an opportunity to play like this. I’m thankful to all my teammates.

What did you think once you were successful in your match against Stork?
- Among the Samsung Khan players, in head to heads the only player I was behind was Stork. When I saw the entries I knew if I lost it would be a huge blow. So I practiced very hard.

You defended against Stork’s attack and seized a chance at victory early.
- Once I blocked his attack early, I gained a huge advantage. I thought that he would find his way into my base again so I played the most optimal defensive strategy. I was able to defend better than I thought. Most of my dragoons didn’t die and after I defended I knew I was at a 90% advantage.

While you were in a slump Bisu stepped up and pulled the team forward.
- I’m thankful Bisu did so well. I think the image that Bisu solely pulled the team forward has strengthened. I’m also feeling apologetic. This is also a stimulus. I will have to work harder so that I can effectively support Bisu in the future (laughs).

Your goal for the future and words?
- After I joined the team the only time we’ve advanced to the finals was the Grand Final. This time I hope that we can make it to the regular season final stage. Rather than my own statistics, I believe the team’s results are first priority.

Last words you want to say?
- Stork hyung is someone I like very much so the fact that we had to play each other today kinda sucked. It seems lately Stork hyung also is in a bit of a slump I hope that he can also come back and show us the force he showed at Incruit OSL. I hope that in the future when we play each other it can be highly anticipated.

Well, I offered to help Smix translate Best's interview but she's way too fast

Anyway, I encourage everyone to read both of our translation to get a better idea through different perspectives.

+ Show Spoiler [Interview with Best] +

Best: "It's my first time going on a 5-game losing streak."
"Because I was losing to zergs a lot, I lost a lot of confidence."

'Monster Toss' Best, who had been slumping recently, has finally managed to win, helping to seal his team's victory.

He managed to defend well against 'Commander' (P)Stork's 3-gate attack in the match against Samsung Khan on the map Heartbreak Ridge, and suceeded in getting this season's 25th win. Best took this victory as a sign of getting out of his recent 5-game losing streak slump.

The following is the interview with Best.

- You have managed to end your 5-game losing streak and finally won a match.
▲ It has been a long time since I was last sent out, so I am happy that I won. I am even happier due to the fact that my opponent was Stork hyung (T/L note: 'big brother', showing close relation).

- You have never experienced a 5-game losing streak before.
▲ There was once where I was at a 6-game losing streak, teamplay matches included. But it was the first time I was on a 5-game losing streak for my individual games. I somehow kept losing, and those losses slowly accumulated. I thought to myself, "have I gotten weaker?". In the end, I think that it was my lack of confidence. I especially kept losing to zergs, so I lost a lot of confidence.

- Although you were in a slight slump, your team was continously winning.
▲ It was fortunate that my team continued to do well despite my slump. I think that it was because of that that I managed to make an appearance today. I am very thankful towards my teammates.

- What thoughts did you have after finding out who you were going to face against today?
▲ The only player in Samsung Khan I lost more to than I won was Stork. After I saw who I was facing, I thought to myself that if I lose this time, it would have a tremendous impact on me. That is why I prepared even harder.

- You quickly proceeded to seal your victory after defending Stork's attack well.
▲ After I defended against his first attack, I was at a great advantage. I thought that he will try to break through my defenses, so I paid special attention to my defenses. I managed to defend better than I had thought. I barely lost any dragoons, and after defending his attack, I was 90% sure to win.

- During your slump, (P)Bisu played an active role in keeping the team going.
▲ I am thankful that Bisu was so active. The image of Bisu leading the team has strengthened. I also feel slightly sorry. It helped to motivate me. I think that I need to work harder so that I can be Bisu's pillar of support (laughs).

- Your new targets and a few words please.
▲ After I joined the team, the only time our team went to any finals was the Proleague Grand Finals. I want our team to make it into this season's Grand Finals. I think that my team's performance is more important than my own.

- Any final words?
▲ I am on very good terms with Stork, so I'm slightly sad that I had to face him like this today. It seems that Stork is slumping too recently, and I hope he can show his dominance he once showed in the Incruit OSL. I hope that the next time we meet, it'll be a fierce match.

Enjoy, feedback and corrections always welcome

what's the thing about thezerg playing zerg? they make it sound like it's his offrace.

I think Smix made a translation mistake there... The fourth question and answer should be:

- Even after you joined SKTelecom T1, you didn't perform well against Zergs.
▲ Even if I did not play against Zergs, I would have lost. But my mindset is now different than before. etc etc.

I'll PM her right away

Ah, when I said 'playing zerg' I meant he played against zerg, but I realize this sounds misleading so I added 'against' in the translation. Thanks for pointing it out

I love the respect between SKT and Khan's Protosses, they seem to learn a lot from each other. I feel like Bisu has improved his PvP and PvT thanks to Best after joining SKT, and BeSt being the macro beast he is should learn the art of mindgames after his epic BO5 vs Stork in the Incruit OSL.

I also hope Stork can show us the brilliance of Incruit OSL again.

I believe Best did show that his overall gameplay, including more harassments and mindgames improved tremendously after Bisu joined SKT1. I think it was in Incruit?

LOL?
Than who are Bisu's and Best's Zerg practice partners? I mean, c'mon, the "ace" zerg of the team is playing against B teamers! I know they sometimes practice with pros from toher houses, but mainyl with thier team, am i wrong about this?

LOL?
Than who are Bisu's and Best's Zerg practice partners? I mean, c'mon, the "ace" zerg of the team is playing against B teamers! I know they sometimes practice with pros from toher houses, but mainyl with thier team, am i wrong about this?

Inside the team, maybe Hyuk or Anomia, beats me. When preparing for matches, although I think it applies the most for individual games rather than just proleague, some playes will contact players from other teams and practice. Bisu is pretty close with savior iirc, so he might practice with him. Oh yeah, and July, they're quite close too.

In many of the interviews translated by awesome tl.net-ers you'll see playes thank other players from different teams for the practice games they had or for some builds they used.

If I'm not mistaken (please do correct me if I'm wrong ), SKT1 has the most leisure time of all pro-gaming teams, having only 6 hrs allotted to strict practice and more freedom to practice with players from other teams or w/e.

EDIT: Totally forgot, such lack of politeness on my part not to thank for the translations. Great job, Smix and konadora, keep it up.
SonuvBob: Yes, the majority of TL is college-aged, and thus clearly stupid.
