This is the first time you won an individual league – how do you feel?
- When this individual league started, I was resolute. I’m so happy I was able to win like this. I struggled through each match since the 32nd round , so I feel that there is a deeper meaning to my victory.
If you had to pick one toughest opponent in this Lost Saga MSL, who would it be?
- I would have to say Leta from the 8th round. When the terran and zerg know each other very well, the terran has a bit of an advantage. So my match with Leta was the most difficult.
It was your first individual league finals – weren’t you nervous?
- Strangely enough, I wasn’t that nervous. I tried to play with a calm mind just as if it were practice.
How did you practice?
- Free and Geumchi from Woongjin Stars both took time out of their resting period to help me a lot. My zerg teammates also watched me and gave me a lot of advice.
After joining KTF, you’ve been showing great stats.
- Once I joined KTF, seeing as how it’s a large enterprise, I changed my perspective and began to practice harder than before. Game by game, I prepared very hard. My parents also gave me pressure (laughs). They told me that since I joined a large company, I would have to practice even harder.
If you hadn’t lost in the 2nd set, it is quite possible you would have 3:0ed.
- Because the 1st set played out so smoothly, I lost focus in the 2nd set. So I lost in the 2nd second and regretted it immensely.
In the first set, with your zerglings you were able to destroy his forge and gain an advantage.
- After I got the forge, I thought to myself that fortune was on my side today. In practice, that never happened before. I think it was Jangbi’s mistake.
You seemed to be aiming for 3:0 victory.
- If I hadn’t lost focus in the 2nd set, I believe I would’ve been able to 3:0 and win. This is definitely something I will have to make up.
It seems after you joined KTF protoss have become very strong.
- Now it seems no one can tie me and Yarnc down (laughter). In our team, zergs do well against protoss. Our team’s protoss are also good. Because of this, my protoss play was able to get better. After joining KTF whenever I played protoss, KTF zerg would teach me many new things. Fixing things one at a time, I think I eventually got better. In the past, once the game got to the midlate to late game, I didn’t know what to do (laughs). However, now besides my opening aggressive play, I also learned management for late game.
You mentioned you wanted to become Protoss’s disaster (beat them all).
- In the finals since I played protoss, I think they’re a bit easy. In the future, whenever I play protoss, I want to beat them all.
Among your Zerg sunbaes (respectful term for older person), is there someone you particularly like?
- I like (real)Yellow the most. I think it’s because I like his big push plays. I think our styles are slightly similar so I like him.
Today Yarnc came to support you – is there anything you want to say to him.
- I’m your hyung (older brother) so it’s definite that I win a title first. If you also work hard I firmly believe you will also be able to win a title.
What do you think of your nickname “Chance Park”?
- For some reason because of that nickname my game style fortunately enough seems to play out well. I think it’s a fitting nickname.
How are you going to spend the prize money?
- I’m the type to save all my earnings. I plan on doing the same this time. Of course, I will buy dinner for the teammates and friends that helped me.
On the 22nd, there is a Winners League playoff match with Hwaseung.
- Tomorrow, whoever I vs, I feel like I will beat them. Because today there was a chance I would lose, I was slightly out of the lineup (laughs).
KTF now has 3 players with titles.
- Me, Flash, and Forgg tied together they call us “Park Chan Ho” (combination of their Korean names – also the name of a famous Korean baseball player). With today’s victory, we’ve become three title holders. I believe our team will only get stronger in the future. With the combination of our strengths, I hope we can carry our team to a victory.
What kind of player do you want to become in the future?
- Today, I won the MSL title, and last time I won the WCG gold medal. In the future, I want to win more starleagues, and in the proleague I want to experience more wins.
Last words?
- Our team’s protoss helped me like it was their own match coming up. The zerg players even with the upcoming Hwaseung match helped me a lot. Woongjin’s Free and Geumchi I also thank once again. Also, with today’s finals the fans prepared a lot so I want to thank them. My parents also always helped me with “mind control”. It’s because of them I was able to produce such good results today. I’m extremely thankful.

- 처음으로 개인리그 우승을 차지한 소감은
▲ 이번 리그를 시작하면서 정말 독하게 마음을 먹었다. 이렇게 우승까지 하게 되어서 정말 기쁘다. 32강부터 정말 힘들게 올라왔는데 더욱 뜻깊은 우승인 것 같다.
- 이번 로스트사가 MSL에서 가장 힘들었던 상대가 있다면
▲ 아무래도 8강에서 맞붙은 신상문 선수가 가장 어려웠다. 테란과 저그가 서로를 잘 알고 있다면 테란 쪽이 조금 더 유리하다. 그래서 신상문 선수와의 경기가 가장 어려웠다.
- 첫 개인리그 결승전이었는데 떨지는 않았나
▲ 이상하게 별로 긴장되지 않았다. 마음 편하게 연습실에서 게임을 했던 것처럼 경기에 임했다.
- 연습은 어떻게 했는가
▲ 웅진의 윤용태 선수와 김승현 선수가 쉬는 기간임에도 불구하고 정말 많이 도와줬다. 우리 팀 저그 유저들도 뒤에서 보면서 조언을 많이 해줬다.
- KTF 이적 후에 굉장히 좋은 성적을 거두고 있는데
▲ KTF로 이적하면서 회사가 대기업이다 보니 마음가짐이 달라지고, 연습 때 예전보다 더 독해졌다. 한 경기, 한 경기 더 열심히 준비했다. 부모님께서 계속 압박을 주기도 하셨다(웃음). 큰 회사에 갔으니까 더 열심히 해야한다는 말씀을 하셨었다.
- 2세트에서 패배하지 않았다면 3:0도 가능했을 것 같다
▲ 1세트가 너무 잘풀려서 2세트에서 살짝 방심을 했었다. 그래서 2세트에서 패배하고 정말 후회를 많이했다.
- 1세트에서 첫 저글링으로 상대의 포지를 파괴하는 성과를 거두기도 했다
▲ 포지를 파괴한 뒤에 오늘은 나에게 운이 따라주는 것 같다고 생각했다. 연습 때 단 한번도 나오지 않았던 상황이다. 허영무 선수의 실수가 있었던 것 같다.
- 3:0 승리를 노리고 있었던 것 같던데
▲ 원래는 2세트도 방심하지 않았다면 예상 스코어대로 3:0 승리를 할 수 있었다고 생각한다. 이 부분은 보완해야 한다.
- KTF 이적 후 프로토스전이 강력해진 것 같다
▲ 이제는 아무도 나와 박명수를 묶을 수 없을 것 같다(웃음). 우리 팀 저그들이 프로토스전을 정말 잘한다. 우리 팀 프로토스도 강하다. 그렇기 때문에 나의 프로토스전이 강해질 수 있었다. KTF로 이적한 후에 프로토스와 경기를 하면, KTF 저그 선수들이 새로운 것들을 정말 많이 알려주더라. 하나씩 고치다보니 강해진 것 같다. 예전에는 중후반을 넘어가면 거의 할 줄을 몰랐었다(웃음). 하지만 이제는 원래 잘하던 초반 공격 뿐만 아니라 중후반 운영을 배웠다.
- 프로토스의 재앙이 되고 싶다고 말하기도 했었는데
▲ 결승전에서 프로토스를 상대해보니 조금 쉬운 것 같다. 앞으로도 프로토스를 만나게되면 다 이기고 싶다.
- 저그 선배들 중 좋아하는 선수가 있다면
▲ 저는 홍진호 선수를 가장 좋아한다. 아무래도 홍진호 선수의 몰아치는 스타일을 좋아하기 때문이다. 스타일이 비슷해서 좋아하는 것 같다.
- 오늘 동생 박명수가 응원을 왔는데 하고 싶은 말이 있나
▲ 내가 형이니까 먼저 우승하는 것은 당연하다. (박)명수도 열심히 하다보면 다음에 꼭 우승을 할 수 있을 것이라고 믿는다.
- '찬스박'이라는 별명에 대해서 어떻게 생각하는지
▲ 왠지 그 별명 때문에 내 경기 스타일이 운 좋게 딱 맞아 떨어진 것 같다. 상당히 좋은 별명이라고 생각한다.
- 이번 시즌 상금은 어떻게 사용할 생각인가
▲ 모든 상금을 저금하는 편이다. 이번 상금도 그렇게 할 생각이다. 연습을 도와준 팀원과 지인들에게 한 턱 쏘는 것은 당연하다.
- 22일 화승과 위너스 리그 플레이오프를 앞두고 있는데
▲ 내일 어떤 선수와 붙어도 다 이길 것 같은 느낌이다. 오늘 혹시 질 수도 있으니까 선봉에서는 살짝 빠져 있었다(웃음).
- KTF가 세 명의 우승자를 보유하게 됐다
▲ 나와 이영호, 박지수 선수를 묶어서 '박찬호' 라인이라고 부르더라. 오늘 우승으로 셋이 우승자가 되었다. 앞으로 우리 팀이 더욱 강해질 수 있을 것이라고 믿는다. 우리가 힘을 합쳐서 꼭 광안리에서 팀을 우승시키고 싶다.
- 앞으로 어떤 선수가 되고 싶은가
▲ 오늘 MSL 우승을 했고, 저번에는 WCG 금메달도 땄다. 앞으로는 스타리그에서 우승을 차지하고 싶고, 프로리그에서 우승을 경험하는 선수가 되고 싶은 마음이다.
- 마지막으로 하고 싶은 말이 있다면
▲ 우리 팀 프로토스들이 자기 일처럼 열심히 도와줬다. 저그 선수들도 화승전을 앞두고 있음에도 정말 많은 조언을 해줬다. 웅진의 윤용태, 김승현 선수에게도 다시 한번 감사드린다. 그리고 오늘 결승전을 대비해서 프론트와 팬들이 많은 것들을 준비해주셨는데 감사드린다. 부모님께서도 항상 '마인드컨트롤'을 도와주셨다. 그 덕분에 오늘처럼 좋은 결과가 나올 수 있었다. 정말 고마운 마음이다.
