I mean, electing someone that isn't motivated would be a pretty bad idea. Could you elaborate on your motivations for running a bit.

Even if I might not have the highest desire to be an elected, once there I will surely have the motivation to do well in my position. 1. Obviously. 2. I don't doubt that you will. 3. You are basically saying that you will try hard if you get elected. That's good, anyone that doesn't think so shouldn't be running. That's not a reason to run in the first place though. Unless you feel the other candidates can't be trusted to be active. On March 18 2009 02:43 semioldguy wrote: Also @ BWdero: I usually enjoy being a regular Townie the most (more than a special role or being Mafia) for some reason. I still have fun with the other roles, though I really like figuring out who Mafia are a lot more than I enjoy playing as them. Though I enjoy all of it to be honest. Being elected would ensure that I am not green. I'm sorry but you aren't making sense. First you say you enjoy being green more then anyhing and then you say you are running because being elected will make sure you aren't green. What? Am I misunderstanding something here?

I say that being elected makes sure I am not green, because it is a true statement. In fact, I state this because this is where my inner-conflict resides (something you asked about to begin with). You wanted to know why I didn't seem fully motivated to run... it's because I enjoy being green most. I am running because I don't like any of the other candidates other than BC. If that still doesn't make sense to you, then it probably isn't ever going to. The way and reasons a person acts will not always make sense to everyone, even in hindsight. Nah that makes sense to me. Misunderstood you that's all. And yeah I'm not liking candidates other then BC myself. On a general note, everyone that is running please put forward a platform that consists of more then 'I will do what town says'. That's nice and all but every candidate is like that. I mean nobody is running on 'I will never listen to what town says'. So please put forward some ideas of your own. What cunning plan to destroy mafia can you devise? Do you agree or disagree with the plans put forward so far? What makes you a better sheriff/mayor then the other guys?

Established intelligent players can do a LOT of damage very quickly because their ideas are often sound and they are more likely to be believed based on previous games. If I knew that putting a hit on those players would mean that they would be confirmed town and put in charge of coordinating town efforts I would seriously consider other options before attempting to kill them. It's a choice really, let the intelligent players run amock for a few days while killing unprotected town or risk putting one of them in charge.

Odds are at least one veteran is a mafia (though that didn't happen last game) and won't be hit and medics will probably double up on protection before coordination so it makes sense for mafia to begin by hitting skilled, experienced players until they can narrow down some blues from vigi hit clues or behavior / slip ups / etc. Yeah I was off. It's a solid plan if we manage to get the one that got hit through the night before his incarceration.

Outstanding clue analysis, you have me convinced. That sort of stuff is what I'm looking for in a sherrif/mayor.

Why are people voting for mayor/sheriff choices based off day 1 clue/behaviour analysis? I know that its a good way to catch mafia on both counts, but heres the issue. Day 1 clues will have only 2-4 clues total each insanely vague, and each to a different mafia, never more clues pointing at it. Also, chuiu typically has his clues as specific words, so using an entire sentence isn't his style bases on past games. Next, we have barely any posting habits to follow on someones behaviour to have it exactly down at this point, it is just as hard to prove someone is mafia off the little posting done. I understand both areas are equally important, but for day 1, neither are truely reliable. Incorrect, last game Chuiu used the note about nuking town as a clue pointing to Fearus. The clue was about an action the mafia made, basically telling town to fear them. On February 28 2009 13:46 Chuiu wrote: In the morning a note was delivered to the Police HQ. It read "We've killed two of your officers and if you don't find us and kill us first we will kill more. Lynch someone every day starting today. Use the experts of the town to find us before we kill you all. If you fail to lynch someone or try to evacuate the town we will set off a nuclear warhead hidden within the city killing everyone." The mafia were playing a cruel game it seemed. That morning an announcement was made that all people would have to assist the police in gathering clues and voting on the suspected to be lynched every day. Change had come to Liquidia, and the whole world was watching to see how it would respond. That entire bolded part was a clue. Meaning that Chuiu does indeed make his clues more elaborate then simple one word clues at least part of the time.

No need to apologize, taking the effort to write long and well thought out posts is a good thing. I disagree with you on Pyrr beeing overzealous though. I was rather impressed with the effort put into that post. And he has already admitted that he realizes that as a day one analysis it's most likely wrong. It's still the best case against anyone we have though. Yeah the clue could point towards others but still, we have to lynch someone on day 1. Though lynching an inactive does seem like an alternative worth considering.
