Is this a viable strategy vs terran mech?

In all my games vs terran mech I feel like the zerg player needs to have way better micro than terran to even stand a chance. Unless you do perfect flanks, your units get torn apart by tanks before they even reach their destination. So then I did some thinking. If units die before they can do damage, then why not use drops to ensure that they reach their destination? Protoss already use zealot bombs to take out tank clusters (using their own tanks against them lol) and it seems like it'll be even easier for zerg. Just load up your entire army in the ovies. To engage the terran mech army, send in your mutas to draw fire from the goliaths and drop your units right on top of the terran army. Not only will the tanks fire on their own units, but your units will arrive at their destination to dish out damage. Now the obvious counter would be mass valkyries, but that's what scourge are for right? Best of all, this completely changes the equation and it's the terran who will be microing the hell out of his goliaths to try to pick off your ovies.

I tried this in a game and took out my opponents army twice before getting steamrolled due to my shitty macro.

My question is if this strategy is at all viable at a higher level than I'm playing at.

mm

I think it wont work cuz Gollies absolutely rape ovis, plus i dunno if timing the ovi drop ability plus speed is really worth it so early

Hmm sounds fishy, could you maybe post the replay?

If your opponent gets 4-5 valks scourges arent gonna matter, they will evaporate just like the ovies, 5 upgraded valks can kill ovies in like 2 seconds anyway. This is really risky but it could maybe be used once if the Terran doesent have any valks. Other than the build day[9] suggested does work fine against mech terran, you wont have to micro the slightest (well a little bit but nothing out the ordinary).

This shouldnt be your main strategy but you could try to pull i off once, though it would be hard.

Usually there are twice as amny goliaths as tanks so i dont think it's that good of an idea. Drop is useful because if the T doesnt turret up you can flood over his main

How is managing massive amount of drops make micro easier? :S

I'm not sure you guys read everything in my post. I stated that you build a massive group of mutas and send them in to draw fire form the goliaths, then send in the ovies.

No. Theres no single match up in this game that requires you to have more micro than your opponent to beat him.

Shuttles are much faster than overlords and zealots last longer than hydras and still you dont use them when the terran has too many goliaths, and since that is the case vs a zerg.. Also, theres a reason why protosses never attack with half their ground army and recall the rest in the middle of the terran stuff. By halving your army youre really damaging its effectiveness, Both their damage and their life expectancy are reduced by more than half.

And no matter how good your micro is, you wont be unloading from all your overlords at once, and if you lose the battle, youre not only losing your army, but also any chance you have at rebuilding it soon.

Theres also no reason why your army shouldnt attack at once.

by the time u make a "massive group of mutas," terran will have double the amount of goliaths. This isn't viable because it's not cost effective due to losing all your mutas and overlords. LOL

Don't reopen a thread after it's closed. This isn't viable and ignores every basis of the strategy forum guidelines.
