Hi, all,
After several months of development, the SC: Evo Complete Ranked Ladder OPEN ALPHA is live, and it’s free for everyone to play.
You can find everything you need to get started here: https://rentry.co/evoladderbot-openalpha
The ladder runs entirely through Discord, letting players find opponents and report results in a structured practice environment. Because of how StarCraft II handles custom games, the bot can’t (and will never be able to) create in-game lobbies for you, but everything else you’d expect from a real ranked system is here: skill-based matchmaking, map vetoes, leaderboards, ranks, and more. All you have to do is meet your opponent in-game, set up the lobby with the provided settings, play your match, then upload the replay and report the result. We already have over a hundred players and hundreds of matches played!
The ladder depends on the honesty and sportsmanship of its community. Our admin team is dedicated to keeping things fair and transparent: we prohibit barcodes and actively investigate dishonest or toxic behavior. Together, we can build something that works better than StarCraft II’s own ladder.
We’re just a few days into alpha so expect bugs, missing features, and the occasional rough edge. I’m improving the bot daily to make the experience as smooth and seamless as possible.
See you on the ladder,

I'd play but not really worth the effort for me at least. Just runs into the same issue as shield battery with extra hoops to jump through for no real gain. (SB at least has mirror match-up dodging preferences and explored map QoL features). At the bare minimum I'd expect automatic reporting for wins/losses for games that are >1min.
Restricting barcodes if it's already through btags doesn't really make much sense especially starting off. Creating more friction on something that's already probably going to struggle to get off the ground. GL though.

Should advertise that you have more average active games than stormgate
(assuming it's true, not exactly a high bar to clear)

I want to play it but I need leaderboards to stay motivated
User was warned for this post

I was warned so I guess I should elaborate on my post in my defense? What I would like is something like what fear dragon used to host a web based leaderboard the url used to be ladderhero.es and you would just go to the website to view standings. I do understand this is a ranked ladder, and so by definition there are going to be leaderboards- I guess through discord? The post doesn't say where the ladder is and the link the provided doesn't have any link to a ladder as well so I guess I am just advocating for ease of access. That's just my opinion and I don't feel like I should get a warning for a relevant system suggestion but fair enough.

The link in the OP does have that info. There are a list of commands for the Discord including that for the leaderboard.

It's there, but I'm pretty sure it's by design to obfuscate it in order to hide player count + racial outliers. Just speculation though, possibly giving it too much credit - could just be incompetence. Guy is claiming 150 matches a day but the game log and server looks dead.
From what I can gather most people play one game and they're over it (I didn't even make it to that point). I saw the hoops required for the bot commands not to mention launching. Sincerely doubt anyone that wants to just try it out is going to be bothered with that. I couldn't be and I was actually looking forward to giving it a shot..
Not really sure what it accomplishes over a bare bones vanilla discord server or even just an in game chat channel. Idea is good and I wish it would succeed but it's only going to be as good as its implementation.

If blizzard actually made an official ladder for this I would play the crap out of it. I think SCEvo is really awesome but there needs to be as little hoops to jump through as possible. Even something like Shield Batterys broodwar client I think would work wonders.

To my knowledge you can’t do something like Shield Battery via the SC2 client, or indeed WC3Champions so you have to go this kind of route instead.
If I’m incorrect on this, I stand corrected in advance!

Technically a War3Champions solution (or similar, ish) would be possible according to a few people I've talked but it would take extensive work and man hours.
