24 강이 시작되던 때, '우승자 징크스'라며 몰매를 맞던 이윤열은 더이상 찾아볼 수 없었다. 24강에서 마지막 남은 희망의 불씨를 살리고, 재경기와 와일드 카드전, 16강과 8강에서 마지막 세트까지 가는 접전을 펼치고 올라온 이윤열의 앞을 막을 사람은 더 이상 없었다.
If you look at beginning of the round of 24s, you wouldn't have found a Nada who was being brutally beaten by the 'winner's jinx'. He revived the last flame for survival in the round of 24s. And there was no one to stop the Nada that came up through the regames, the wild card matches, the round of 16s and 8s, which were all insanely close games where Nada barely pulled out in the last game of the series.

초반부터 2대0으로 앞서나가며 기선을 제압했다. 그러나 한동욱의 스피디한 움직임에 두 세트를 내줬다. 자칫하면 흔들릴 수도 있는 마지막 경기를 이윤열은 자신만의 스타일로 완벽히 잡아내고 2연속 결승 진출에 성공했다. 6년동안 깨어지지 않던 2연속 우승 기록 역시 코앞에 있다.
He took the lead as he went 2-0 from the beginning. But Casy took two games with his speedy movements. Even though it is easy to be shaken by the gravity and the importance of the last game, Nada took the last game in his own style and succeeded in reaching the finals twice in a row. The achievement/record of winning 2 consecutive OSL, which has never happened in the last 6 years, stands in front of Nada at this time.

-2연속으로 결승에 진출했다.
▶멍하다. 너무 기뻐서 뭐라고 말을 해야할 지 모르겠다. 그 정도로 기분이 좋다. 정말 처음에 시작 전에 안 떨린다고 말은 했지만 사실 너무 떨렸다. 상대에게 하는 말에 안 떨린다고 써놓고 너무 떨리길래 후회했다.
-You reached the finals twice in a row.
▶I feel dazed. I'm so happy that I don't know what to say. That's how happy I am. I said that I wasn't shook up/nervous before the games but I was actually very nervous. I regretted saying that I wasn't nervous because I became even more nervous after I said those words.

-알카노이드 시리즈에서 승률이 매우 좋다.
▶ 완벽히 섬맵이라고 할 수는 없지만 알카노이드도 섬맵이라고 생각한다. 섬맵은 눈치싸움이고 드롭십 싸움이다. 그 싸움은 내가 자신있다. 상대의 경로를 빠르게 눈치채고 미리 대처하는 게 자신있다. 초반에 크게 벌어지지 않는 맵에서는 확실히 자신있다.
-Your winning percentage is very good on Arkanoid.
▶You can't say Arkanoid is a completely island map but I think Arkanoid is an island map. Island map fights come down to recognizing the opponent's strategy and dropship usage. I am confident in those kinds of fights. I am confident in finding my opponent's attack route and preparing beforehand for the attack. I am confident in any maps where I don't fall too far from the beginning.

-첫 세트에서 도박적인 전략을 사용했는데.
▶ 상대가 첫 세트에서 내가 바이오닉 할 거라는 생각을 못했을 거 같다. 그래서 바이오닉으로 최적화 빌드를 만들었다. 한동욱 선수의 배럭을 보고 위치를 더 빨리 확인해서 유리했다. 스캔으로 팩토리가 올라가는 것을 보고 이겼다고 생각했다. 더블 커맨드가 아니더라도 바이오닉이 러시오는 것을 미리 보지 못하면 못 막는다. 1, 2세트에서는 내가 준비한 전략은 맞아떨어지면 아무 것도 못하고 지게 돼 있는 전략이다.
-You used a risky strategy in the first game.
▶My opponent (casy) probably didn't think that I would do bionic in the first game. So I created a build that uses bionic to the fullest ability. I was at an advantage because I saw Casy's barrack and figured out where his base was. I saw his factories with scan and I thought I won. Even if it's not double CC, you still can't block a bionic rush if you don't see it coming. The strategies in game 1 and 2 are ones that are unstoppable if they work.

-3세트에서 역전패를 당했다.
▶주도권을 놓치지 않으려고 같이 역공을 펼쳤는데 너무 좋은 위치에 드롭이 돼서 좀 당황했다. 천천히 막아야 하는데 그러지 못하고 유닛이 각개격파했다. 3세트가 엄청 유리하다가 뒤집힌 경우라서 심상치 않은 분위기가 느껴졌다. 불안했다. 4세트에 못 이길지도 모른다는 생각도 했고, 내가 절대 앞선다는 생각도 하지 않았다.
-You lost to Casy's comeback in game 3.
▶I didn't want to lose map control so I counter dropped but I was surprised because he dropped in such a good spot. I was supposed block it little by litte but I kept we kept on losing units 1 for another. I felt the atmosphere turn heavy because I lost the 3rd set even though I was at such an advantage. I was worried. I thought I coudln't win in game 4, and I didn't even think I was ahead at all.

-4세트에서도 유리한 국면이 있었는데.
▶내가 상황판단을 너무 못햇다. 그 상황에서 들어갔어야 했는데 3세트 패배가 걸려서 제대로 하지 못했다. 3세트는 공격들어가서 졌기 때문에 이번에는 차분히 천천히 하자고 한게 화를 불렀다.
-You seemed to have the upper hand in some situations in game 4 as well.
▶I made a poor decision in that situation. I should have went in but I couldn't do it well enough because the game 3 loss was still shaking me inside. I lost game 3 becuase I charged in so I wanted to attack calmly and slowly, and that ended up turning against me.

-마지막 세트를 앞둔 심경은 어땠나.
▶ 첫 경기다. 다시 시작이다. 긴장은 되지만 알카노이드 맵은 내가 자신있으니 천천히 무난하게 가자는 생각을 했다. 신한은행 스타리그 2005에서 연성이형이 동욱이를 상대로 2대0에서 2대2까지 갔다가 3대2로 이긴 경기도 생각나고, 정말 많은 것들이 떠올랐다. 내심 상대가 바이오닉을 해주기도 바랬다. 나는 막는 법을 알기 때문이다. 그런데 정찰해보니 더블 커맨드더라.
-How did you feel before the last game?
▶ It was the first game. It restarted. I was nervous but I was confident on Arkanoid so I thought I should take it slow and steady. I thought about how ooV went 2-0 then 2-2 then won 3-2 against Casy, and so many things popped into my mind. Internally, I hoped my opponent would do bionic. Because I know how to block it. But when I scouted he Double CC'ed.

-커맨드 센터가 깨지며 위기를 느꼈을 것 같다.
▶9 시 멀티는 최악의 경우 깨진다고 생각했다. 의외로 시즈탱크가 너무 많이 죽은게 피해였다. 그래도 드롭십을 지속적으로 줄여준 게 승리의 요인이다. 나중에 7시와 8시가 공격받을 때 잠시 3차전 생각이 스쳤다. 그 때를 기억하며 차분하게 하자고 다짐했고, 병력을 모아서 공략했기 때문에 무난히 걷어낼 수 있었다.
-You would have felt in danger when you lost your CC.
▶I thought the 9:00 expo should only be given up in the most dire situations. I lost more tanks than I thought and it did a lot of damage to me. But I was still able to win because I constantly took down dropships. When 7:00 and 8:00 was attacked game 3 passed through my mind. I remembered that game and decided to take it clamly and I gathered my troops and attacked, which let me defend against the attack.

-5전을 치르며 한동욱을 상대하는 법을 완벽히 깨달은 것 같다.
▶동욱이의 플레이는 정말 공격적이다. 한 번 기세를 잡으면 빈틈을 잘 찾고 나보다도 공격적인 모습을 많이 보여준다. 그래도 알고 막으면 막을 수 있다. 그래서 드롭십의 경로를 찾으려고 노력했고 그걸 찾아서 미리미리 차단했다.
-I think you understood how to fight against Casy after that BO5.
▶Casy's shows really aggressive playing style in his games. Once he gets the momentum going he finds holes really well and he shows his aggressive side, which is even more aggressive than my aggressiveness. But you can still block him if you know what he's doing. So I did my best to find the dropships' attack route and I kept on blocking them before they could do any damage.

-시즌 초 부진으로 인해 많은 질타를 받았었다.
▶ 안티팬들의 말이 오히려 힘이 됐다. 이윤열은 운이 좋다, 이윤열은 뭘 못한다, 이런 식으로 질타하는 말들을 약으로 받아들이는 내공을 쌓았다. 이번 결승 진출은 그분들의 힘도 크다. 그 사람들에게 내 실력을 제대로 보여주고 싶다는 욕심이 컸다.
-A lot of people slandered against you while you were having a hard time at the beginnig of the season.
▶The anti-fan's words actually became my strength. I was able to internalize words like "Nada is lucky", "Nada can't do this and that well" and turn it into my strength. I owe my advancement to the finals to the antifans' power. I badly wanted to show them my real skills to them.

-24강에서 이학주에게 승리한 뒤부터 변화가 있었던 것 같다.
▶너무 긴장하고 간절했던 경기를 역전승으로 이긴 후에 이렇게 갚진 승리를 했는데 떨어지면 안되겠다는 생각을 했다. 이 경기가 빛나려면 계속 올라가야 한다, 떨어지면 금방 잊혀질 것이라고 생각했다.
-You seem to have changed after your win against UpMagic in the round of 24s.
▶I barely won that game in spite of my nervousness and the closeness of the game with a comeback, and I thought to myself that I shouldn't lose after taking such a precious win. I need to keep going if I want that game to shine more, because I if I become eliminated it will be quickly erased from everyone's memory.

-설 연휴는 어떻게 쉴 예정인가.
▶제사를 지내야 하기 때문에 내려가야 한다. 집의 모니터가 LCD라서 숙소의 모니터를 들고 내려가서 틈틈히 연습하겠다.
-How will you rest over the new years' break?
▶I have to go down to do a ceremony (for his dad who passed away I presume) Since the monitor at my house is LCD I will take the monitor from the training room and practice when I have time.

-연습을 도와준 선수들은.
▶ 우리 팀 테란들이 정말 많이 도와줬다. 태양이까지도 바이오닉 빌드를 짜는데 큰 도움을 줬다. 또 삼성전자 김동건 선수, SK텔레콤 최연성, 고인규 선수, MBC게임 염보성 선수가 도와줬다. 특히 고인규 선수가 가장 큰 도움을 줬다.
-Who helped you practice.
▶The terrans in my team helped me so much. Even Tae-Yang helped me create the bionic build. Kim Dong-Gun from Samsung Khan, SKTelecom's ooV, Canata, MBCgame's Sea helped me, especially Canata.

-결승전에서 상대하고 싶은 선수는.
▶당연히 마재윤 선수다. 복수하고 싶다. 꼭 결승에 올라와서 나와 대결했으면 좋겠다.
-Who do you want to face in the finals.
▶Savior of course. I want to take revenge on him. I want him to advance to the finals and face me.
