Day 4 Preview
WCS America's first Challenger League comes to an end with the fourth and final day of the tournament.

Sen was one of the better foreigners in 2013's Premier League, but much like Jim (eliminated by Bomber), he's had the horrible luck of being matched up against a tough Korean player from the qualifiers. Even through Sen has momentum going his way with a string of great tournament results, facing a Korean pro in a ZvZ is always a dangerous proposition.
Check has not had much live tournament success so far, but he has been a formidable player in online competitions, especially in the previous Acer TeamStory Cup where he served as Western Wolves' #2 player. Seeing as the Challenger League is online, he should be able to bring his A game.

This "mirror" match-up features two American high schoolers on ROOT gaming going up against each other. While both players are fairly young, Astrea takes on the role of the newcomer against the more established player in Illusion. From what we can gather, Astrea is a promising young player that a lot of people are excited about, but the track record in this Challenger season so far heavily favors the defending Premier players. Will Astrea be able to go against the grain and break through?

Drunkenboi escaped the worst possible fate by avoiding a Korean, but he's ended up with the next worst opponent in a Chinese pro. After the all-conquering Koreans, the players hailing from China have been the second most dominant group in WCS America thus far. While MacSed and Jim did most of the repping for their country in 2013, there were plenty of other skilled pros back in China waiting for a chance. Seeing as Toodming broke through tough competition to take one of the three Chinese qualifier spots, he could very well end up being a force to be reckoned with in Premier.

XiGua was one of the first Chinese SC2 players to really become known in the West, taking second place to Mvp at WCG 2011. Since then he's been overshadowed by players like Jim and MacSed who have had the chance to play in more high profile tournaments, and now XiGua has a chance to force his way back into the international spotlight.
But before he can do that he will have to get over his most difficult hurdle yet in his WCS journey as he faces the LYGF's Tassadar. Yes, it's true that Tassadar is more often a butt of jokes than a source of fear (GSTL caster Wolf barely hesitates when he calls Tassadar the worst GSTL player ever), but that's in the context of facing other Koreans. With a peculiar aptitude for all-ins, Tassadar is a player who is more than capable of snuffing out the hopes and dreams of foreigners.

Well, this is it. If PiG falls here, there will be no one to represent that wide region Blizzard calls Oceania/South East Asia. Overall, PiG has improved steadily and is arguably performing the best he has in his career. However, he still may not be at the level yet to challenge a Korean Protoss like Crank, with hisrecord showing he struggles against such opponents.
Crank may not have the individual tournament accolades of some of the other WCS America players, but he's not someone to take lightly in a series where there's a lot of preparation involved. He's defeated plenty of Korean pros who would be considered to be better than him in the GSTL and other team leagues, and he should take care of business against PiG if he treats this match with the same severity.

Finally, we have a good old fashioned USA vs. Canada match. Alongside Minigun, Suppy was one of the best and most consistent US players in the WCS 2013 system, and he'll look to see if he can keep up his good performances in 2014. His opponent MaSa has often been touted as one of the best NA Terrans, but for one reason or another, hasn't been able to make a name for himself in large tournaments. With a win here, MaSa can rectify that situation, as well a swing the US-Canada balance of WCS America in Canada's favor.
