Live report threads have been a part of the TL culture for the better part of 8 years. During those days a typical live report OP would normally be one of the following:
- "Hey does anyone know what's going on with this match?"
- "Here are the lineups"
- "I didn't see a thread, so I made one!"
The live report threads that pop up today are simply leaps and bounds ahead of what we started with. And while there has been a number of contributors who have made live report threads better, one man stands out.
opterown played a significant part of making live report threads are what they are today. He really took live report threads to the next level in terms of quality - be it through use of polls, ease of accessibility of information, prompt updating, sheer number of live report threads created or simply creating an incredibly useful live report resources thread which have served many others well. It's safe to say that live report threads would not be what they are today without his contribution. (He's also done some other cool things, like the unofficial world champion)
We very rarely award stars on TL. They are reserved for people who make standout contributions to the site - simply looking at our most recent stars dakota_fanning and juicyjames gives you a good gauge of the caliber of these people. opterown recently retired from making live report threads, but to honor his contribution to live report threads, today we award him with a forum star.
