Where the idea came from and a bit about myself
I was mulling over what this was supposed to be and what it would be called for a while. Originally I was planning on calling it the TL drawing club, or Drawing community, but I know there's so many other talented artmaking members of the community out there. I've seen some excellent graphic design and 3d modelling work from TL's members but it seems all sort of scattered and dissident. The idea here is to bring us all together so we can feed off of each other and encourage and teach each other.
I must admit the motivation behind creating such a community on here is slightly selfish. When I was in college, I was in a BAA Illustration Program, there was always groups of people that did very well, top of the class, most talented, went on to great thing, and they all seemed to hang out with each other. I realized that this wasn't some sort of elitist group that formed with the purpose of being the best, but that these people got to where they were as a result of the people they fraternized with. They fed off each other, taught each other, and challenged each other to become the best.
Since I've graduated I haven't been able to immerse myself in a community of like minded individuals similar to what was available to me in college. And it's evident, at least to me. I feel my skills have degraded considerably, I don't have the same drive, or the same creativity I had in college. I've tried rekindling the fire with a blog a few months ago, but it wasn't quite the same, and I still felt isolated in my process. Creating this group would be a way for all the artmakers on TL to come together and feed off each other.
Other TL art communities
We saw a similar initiative not too long ago with sketchpad.tv where we had artists streaming their process and work. I think it was a great endeavour but where it fell short was the lack of connections it made between the different artists and community. It felt just like a bunch of isolated individuals showing their stuff and getting limited feedback.
Purpose
This thread is a place for people to share their knowledge, work and inspiration here. Post stuff you've been making recently, ask for help, give help, post websites or work that you've been looking at recently, links to your blog and links to portofolio, whatever you want. Or just talk about yourself, what's up with you and what sort of stuff you've been into, even outside of art. Let's get to know each other a bit and push each other to make great stuff.
What to post and what not to post
• Post your own work • Post links to inspirational work • Post links to your site, blog, portfolio • Post WIPs • Post tutorials and learning material • Do not post memes • Do not post adult themed artwork • Do not post other peoples work unless spoilered and appropriately tagged. • Do not post links to stores or sell anything • Do not bash artists work, everything critic should be constructive
I look forward to everyone's contributions. If there's anything people would like to add or things they think I've missed feel free to PM me.

Ohh this could be interesting - thers been some really impressive blogs with various SC related art in them, would be nice to have it all in 1 place =)
I'm currently working with aquarelles - will see if I have something decent to post later, for now I'll just share this link http://www.polykarbonbbs.com/ I've been a member there since 05 and although some of the crowd can be REALLY elitist and arsey they have some amazing artists posting - definatly worth a look for anyone interested.

I think this is a great idea. Would be awesome to have somewhere to collaborate with some of the other artists out there too. Might have to break out maya and do something new. I streamed the creation of an sc2 overlay a couple weeks ago, was enjoyable, I'd do it again.

Great idea! I hadn't heard of sketchpad.tv, would have contributed. Tried ages ago to get different artists to collaborate on blog posts here but it never took off, this would be great though! I never had formal art training beyond secondary(high) school, currently post work on my tumblr:

Look forward to contributing here!

So far so good for myself, despite the absence of the flood of content and support I had dreamed of : P. I've actually been drawing daily and manage to convince myself to update the aptly name artblog I created some years ago. I posted some of the stuff I've been working on throughout the last year for school/personal project videogame. I posted a bunch on my TL blog for that one as well before predictably running out of motivation and steam. Being invested in this little project though has renewed my motivation and commitment and I hope to be updating the crap out of that Blog in the weeks to come. tkaliszartblog.blogspot.com
I've also been drawing various streamers I've been checking out to get some practice with faces, so once I ask them for consent I'll probably post some of those up here as well.

I know SOME one on here does that "speed art" thing, where an artist draws, or sculpts or whatever, and then time lapses it so a viewer can enjoy what would be a length creative process in the flash of time. I REALLY like this, and wondering if anyone is interested in collabing with us.
This would be the track in question:
http://valuedcustomer.bandcamp.com/track/origami
We are pushing to blogs , and getting some reviews, we are active and not resting, so it would definitely be seen by people. It's kind of a hip hop / radioheady kind of thing....
We are TOTALLY open to what you might create, we can give guidelines if that helps you pump out ideas, or we can just let you go free willy or maybe listen to the tune and see if that flows through you. A small compensation might be able to be arranged. I hate asking people to work for free, because as a musician I know how that feels... we can talk. Any takers? We are VERY open minded in terms of what the subject could be, ideally something a little more rare/challenging/out there/ honest.......
Anyone interested? It can be a fun way to collab.

Just want to share some things. This is a really great place to hang out for anyone into pixel art. They have contests constantly. It's really provided me with tons of inspiration as I've delved into the world of pixel art and taught me some interesting ways of making this sort of stuff. Every time I visit it motivates me to sit down and make some stuff.
And so on a related note, this is a new Pixel themed overlay I've been working on for my SC2 stream.
![[image loading]](http://i822.photobucket.com/albums/zz142/raine_kalisz/overlaypixel-1.jpg)
I've been using FFsplit to stream recently and this overlay ingame. It's a little tedious switching it on and off and out of game, but it's worth it for the aesthetic improvements and, what I believe, is the unique nature of the overlay.
I'm kind of sad that more artistic types on TL didn't embrace this thing and it's been kind of stillborn, but I will faithfully continue to update it until it catches on : )
Edit: worked on overlay some more.

Pixel art is a badass medium with an absolute ton of subtleties of digital art that normally get lost in the wash of photoshop tricks and techniques. Most people will write it off as "retro 8-bit shit" but some great and relatively modern pixel artists (Fool, Helm, Jalonso, TinC etc etc) show the possible breadth of the medium in the ground it can cover. I started my art endeavors with pixel art (at pixeljoint, no less! I was Saboteur!) waay back in 2005 and would have a hard time picking a better place to start. Props to you, good sir, for trying out pixel art and seeing what you can do with it!
This thread makes me feel like I should make a website, actually.

Not much of an artist, but I pranced around deviantART for some time. I tend to write more tales and short stories than I do drawing doodles, but I got some stuff that I'll post up every now and again. As a student in the earth sciences, I have the privilege to view amazing geology across the US, and I've got some (don't mean to boast) amazing photographs. Would it be okay to show those here? If not, that's cool with me; I've got a couple drawings I'd like to showcase.

That's some crazy stuff, but you really need someone to make you a website! I'm sure you must have someone who's a graphic designer or webdesigned, or maybe someone on here can design you something simple. Cool stuff, it just needs a nicer medium to show it off!
