DISCLAIMER: The following part of the thread is designed to easily navigate the interview. You can jump to the desired section of the conversation, simply by clicking on
these highlighted headings (except for this one) . The quotes are there to give a short introduction into the guests reply and do not represent his answer in its entirety.
00:11 Introduction
00:45 What is Ministry of Win and who is behind it? Essentially we are a group of 4 people, really, united by a vision to create something new in the landscape of eSports in Poland and Central Europe...
01:55 Who can apply for the house? We invite all kinds of players from all over the world to join us...
The language that we will speak at the house is English 100%...
You don't have to be a top pro gamer to think about applying to our house.
03:39 So we are speaking about high Master/Grandmaster players? Players who are on the verge of becoming professional?
Yes, that would be the ideal target for our undertaking...
...but we are not closing our doors to anyone really...
04:56 Let's say I applied for the gaming house and I got the spot. What does that mean for me? How long am I staying? A week, a month or a year?
That's really up to you Jojo. [...] You can sign a contract for one month, two months, three months, half a year or a year. It's all up to you...
You have to pay for your own travel to come to Warsaw but are picking you up from the Warsaw airport. We have our own car and our own driver.
In the house you do not have to pay for anything. All food, all bills, everything is covered from the money you pay us every month.
There will be 12 players and 2 coaches.
Each player will have a very good amount of the coaches time. The coach will probably know everybody and attend to each players own mistakes and strengths and build on that.
There is also a house manager who will help with the organizational side of things.
07:38 How will a player pay per month?
2500 Polish zloty [on May 8th, 2012 that amounts to 595.93 Euros/£480.62/$775.48]
Everything is already included in that price and we think it's not that high compared to general living costs in Europe...
08:45 What kind of bedrooms are we looking at?
We have 4 exquisite rooms. They will be shared.
Player rooms:
- One 2 Person room
- Two 3 Person room
- One 4 Person room
There are 5 bathrooms in the house and each of them has a shower so there will be no problem at all regarding bathroom comfort.
Both coaches and the house manager will live at the house as well at all times [...] They live on a different level of the house.
[...] There is a cinema room, with a bar and a machine that makes smoke and a 600 Watt subwoofer [...] There is a casting studio as well. [...]
PICTURES OF THE PRACTICE HOUSE (INSIDE AND OUTSIDE)
10:39 The press release mentions a chef... That is correct, there will be a cook. It's a professional cook with many years of experience...
11:52 Are players supposed to bring their own gear?
The computers are already there and on our website there is a full specification of the computers the players will get...
13:04 The location of the house. How far away is it from the city center of Warsaw?
The house location, trust me, is outstanding [...] it's 10, maybe 15 minutes away from the very center of the city...
15:47 Who is the coach and what kind of credentials does he have? [...] he's very passionate and very devoted to StarCraft II despite his young age because he is, I suppose, 20 [...]
17:24 What race does the coach play? [...] Zerg if I recall correctly [...]
18:37 What kind of content will be produced under the banner of Ministry of Win? Events are a very important part of our business idea and venture approach. We want to be the heart of the community...
[...] We have our own broadcasting studio in the house...
22:29 Message to the viewers / Shout-outs [...] I think that our new approach will redefine eSports in Europe [...]

600€ is quite expensive for poland no?
|
|
Is there a plan on acquiring any of the players training in the house or is this stricly a business; practice house for players wanting to find a team and becoming good enough for a pro team through the gaming house?
|
Use one spoiler for the pictures, not one for each please!
The house looks mad cozy. But what's a machine that makes smoke ?
|
We are accepting all players, no matter what team they are or if they are teamless. Of course there are still some requirments regarding the skill level etc.

To teach players how to make a fog of course.
No, seriously - I think Jędrzej said that just to show how cool the cinema (chill-out) room is and what kind of equipment is there.

I would have said: To simulate the fog of war when watching replays and VOD's on screen in the cinema room obviously.

Not really.
I live in a 66 m2 flat around 20 minutes away from the city centre in a semi-decent area of Łódź (and keep in mind that Warsaw, being the capitol city, is the most expensive one to live in). Around 300 EUR covers all my bills. Then there's food, fun, transportation.
Poles do earn way less on average than Western Europeans, but the costs of living are comparable in most cases. Average salary in Poland is ~900 EUR as of april 2012. Trust me, the price offered by MoW is a total steal.

Great idea, loving that . Hope to see it expanding in the future

Not sure If I would call it a total steal but the fact that everything from shampoo over food to computers is provided really doesn't make it expensive. It sounds like a very reasonable price to me.
