Today Complexity Gaming and Quantic Gaming are announcing that the professional gamer contract of Johan "Naniwa" Lucchesi has been sold, effective immediately.

"We approached Quantic Gaming and were pleased to find that they were interested in purchasing the contract rights to Naniwa," said Jason Lake, Founder and CEO of Complexity Gaming. "He is an amazing talent but we have come to discover that he does not share the core values of compLexity and felt it was best for both parties to part ways. We wish him the very best in his gaming career. We will be seeking another top contender to fill his spot in the near future."

Mark Ferraz, Founder and CEO of Quantic Gaming, provided the following statement regarding the acquisition, “We’ve made a commitment to invest in StarCraft 2, in order to deliver the most memorable and engaging experiences for both fans and partners. Acquiring NaNiWa aligns with our revised approach nicely. We expect our ‘Power-Protoss-Duo’ to deliver at the highest and most entertaining level. I warmly welcome Johan to the team.”

About compLexity Gaming:

Complexity Gaming® is the premier competitive gaming brand in the Americas. Owned and operated by some of the finest minds in the industry, Complexity has a long heritage of championship caliber teams, superstar players, news reporting and gaming entertainment ventures. Complexity's gamers have been featured by numerous mainstream media outlets like Sports Illustrated, New York Post, Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal. They have also appeared on live television programs such as CBS' 60 Minutes and the Championship Gaming Series, have been featured in film documentaries and were a focus of the book "Game Boys."

About Quantic Gaming:

Quantic Gaming, LLC is a revolutionary eSports, new media, and brand representation organization that is building bridges between the competitive gaming establishment, industry partners, and publishers through professional management, social network outreach and utilization of new media platforms.

As a subsidiary of Quantic Gaming, “Quantic Media” delivers compelling production grade media to tens of thousands of viewers each week, and is comprised of one of the most elite teams of directors, producers, and commentators in the industry.

Read the website post here.

NaNiwa had this to say regarding his change of teams:

“I know I might get criticized by fans and haters for switching teams, but what Quantic had to offer was simply better and much more similar to what my visions are for my career. With Quantic I will have the opportunity to live with SaSe and that will for sure help me a lot. He’s not just a good player but a very dear friend of mine and it will be fun and interesting to play in the same team as him.

I was not a good fit in Complexity because I was all alone in Korea, and they had no plans to send any more of their players here for a long time. I may come off as a cold person in interviews and with the way I act in general, but I get lonely quite easily. Living with other people who speak English and being around StarTale (who embraced me with open arms when I first came to Korea) is an exciting prospect for me. If my time within Quantic goes as well as I think it will, then you can bet I won’t be moving teams again. Thanks to all my fans! Continue to support me in the future please!”

Said it in the other thread, but really surprised. Naniwa must be one hell of a nightmare behind the scenes or something 0_O.

Best of luck to all parties, Quantic starting to look REALLY strong.

Naniwa is in a race with major to see who can play on the most teams in sc2.

Huh?? I find this kinda strange, so long as he stays in Korea its ok I guess, but switching teams so many times this year can't be good for him. It's his 4th team now

Makes sense, considering that Nani was close with StarTale and QxG is hopefully about to start something with them,

Clearly I understand naniwa now, he and major are in a competition to who can switch teams the most I expect another team switch from major to keep ahead of nani.
On another note thought I'm not too surprised to be honest lots of big names jumping teams recently, sC, polt, Sangho + clide and now naniwa.

Naniwa spending all his prize money on new accounts to name change :D

In all seriousness, Quantic is starting to look very scary. Good pick up on their part, sad that it didn't work out with Complexity.
