Q: You've won your first Code S championship. How are you feeling now?
A: In my career as a progamer, I haven't had this kind of result, but now that I've won like this, I'm happy. I think next season I will be able to play overflowing with confidence.
Q: Before the games you predicted a 4:2 score. The result went according to your prediction.
A: I won games 1 and 2, and had prepared builds for 3 and 4 so I thought I would win 4:0. But in games 3 and 4, Leenock used different play than I thought he would. They were disadvantageous games, but I did my best and because I had confidence in games 5 and 6 the score ended up 4:2.
Q: Starting from the first game, the games were impressive close matches. If you hadn't been able to win the first game, how do you think today's competition would have gone?
A: In the first game, he didn't find my hidden expansion but the game was really close. But I saw Leenock made a mistake with his banelings and I thought I would be able to win. Six games were played today, but it was a big physical burden. If I had lost the first game, I think that it could have become harder to win.
Q: In the second game on Crossfire, your 1 Factory – 3 Barracks play was impressive. Was this a prepared build or an improvisation?
A: Because I analyzed Leenock's play, I thought using something he didn't expect would go well. I originally prepared this lethal strike and planned to use it in the second game. I saw that my opponent had 3 hatcheries, and I had a gut feeling that I could win.
Q: You yielded the 3rd and 4th games and the score got tied up. When the scores became even, how was your mental state?
A: While I was playing the third game, I didn't know I was at a disadvantage, but I knew I was in the fourth game. After the score evened up, my teammates complimented me saying I did my best in an unwinnable situation in the fourth game. So I think my mental state was stable.
Q: Today was your first finals. Was your skill fully shown?
A: Before the games I was shaking, so I was worried. But when I entered the booth my anxiety all dissolved. During the games my hands were loose [T/N as opposed to like slow/stiff] and I was able to show my skill without any anxiety.
Q: In the sixth game, your defense of counter attacks was impressive. Did you face that sort of thing a lot in practice?
A: Calm Before the Storm has a lot of paths and is big, so this kind of situation happened a lot. When I didn't have forces to stop a counterattack, I retreated immediately. But if you just stop it once, a good timing for an attack comes for the Terran. It was a situation I anticipated sufficiently.
Q: This season, you started distinguishing yourself after the Round of 8. When did you start thinking you could win the tournament?
A: In the round of 32 or 16, I thought I couldn't make a deep impression. The community too almost all just thought that I would lose in the finals. I didn't think that kind of thing. I believed in myself and tried to push confidently. After I won 3:0 in the Round of 8, my anxiety completely disappeared. Starting then I thought of victory.
Q: A lot of people predicted Leenock to be superior. I'm curious what you thought.
A: My girlfriend read message boards and got angry (laughs). But I was confident. This is because even though Leenock is good, my prepared strategies were good and I felt confident in TvZ.
Q: Speaking from your victory today, what areas were you better in than Leenock?
A: I prepared like usual, but my teammates told me a lot of Leenock's weaknesses. I got a lot of help and felt confident against Zerg, so I was able to play comfortably.
Q: You've won a Korean championship title. Now don't you feel ambitious about foreign tournaments?
A: Up to now, I've wanted to go but haven't been able to. But now since I've won, I wonder whether invitations won't come soon. I definitely want to go to foreign tournaments often next year.
Q: It seems like your play style has really improved. Your command of MVP's precision and Slayers Terrans' drop play was impressive.
A: In the past I just practiced. But this season I learned from watching other people's play. So I was able to absorb their strong points. But I'm still far away. I think I will have to practice even harder during the rest period.
Q: It seems like you're greedy for a second win. Around when do you think you will be able to do it?
A: If I just improve my TvT over the break, I think I'll be able to advance to the finals next season too (laughs).
Q: You are NSHoseo's first champion. What did your coach and teammates say to you right after you won?
A: They all complimented me saying I did well. When I just saw the finals on TV I felt jealous, but when I won a championship myself I was really happy. I want to feel this feeling next season too.
Q: Today your dad accepted the trophy. What did you think?
A: It seemed like I would cry, but thankfully I didn't. My dad has a lot of interest in my games. When I first said I wanted to play games he opposed it, but after I stood by my decision he helped me more than anyone. I think I was able to win thank to my dad's help.
Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: Since I won, I've gotten a lot more confident. I want to practice hard for next season and let people know that MVP isn't the only Terran, and that I also exist. Also, I will work hard to show more interesting play to receive a lot of love from fans.
